Whenever I think of school I think of textbooks, notebooks, and pencils. However, existing in this world as it progresses each day, new objects are becoming customary. Schools all over the globe are now teaching student with technology. Aswe all know this is a widely controversial topic. I believe that technology should be integrated in schools because it allows students to learn and collaborate with one another and teachers efficiently, however,the personal use of technology in schools should be limited for its distractive features, and its lack of thinking that it can entail. Being a 10th grade high schools student I can testify that technology has tremendously benefited myself, and my peers. There has been countless times I have been at home, struggling to complete an assignment that is due the following day. As we all know, teachers are not available to assist us all the time. Thanks to technology, like computers or cell phones, I am able to consult with other students who also have received this assignment for help. We are able to send pictures of steps on how to complete a problem, or directly edit one another´s papers. These technological features allow us to use our peers to learn and collaborate effectively. This becomes a wider issue when students begin to pull out cell phones in the middle of class. Cue the distractions. Speaking from a high school student’s perspective, I can say that as much as I love having my phone with me at all times, it is definitely a distraction during class. There is always a number of times, during a lesson or a presentation, where I find my attention drifting off of the lecture, and towards my cell phone. As an individual who usually has a strong attention span, I can speak on behalf of my peers when I say that allowing personal technology would only be a distraction to students.
