High schoolers rush through every essay written for their teachers each year, always procrastinating until the last second. Nothing changes even when they miss due dates and lose grade letter points. Wikipedia is the fastest way for them to look up fast information, rather it be correct or not. Teachers all of the world have their own set rules about using wikipedia, but it never fails for students to use wikipedia on their papers. Wikipedia is ranked among the top ten most used websites in the world, so it must have some credit. Should it not?

Using one source alone is a bad decision enough, and it being wikipedia is asking for a low grade for any assignment. Three to four references will insure that every fact is correct and there are not any slip ups on the information written. Anyone on the internet is able to publish anything they want to since it is free and fast. All information should be fact checked in encyclopedias and other websites. …show more content…

If they wanted people to think Marilyn Monroe died in 1912, they could type on their computer just that and post it for anyone in the world to read. Relying on something without a publisher’s address is unintelligent,so now, in 2017, a user must have a wikipedia account to change any information, so that if they were to post false information their posts can be deleted and have their account banned. Wikipedia pages now have small screenings to check large dates and place informations, conducted by the average person everyday. With these minimal screening, accounts, and fact checkings the accuracy of wikipedia has risen in the past 16
