Technology Influences Technology not only changes people’s lives but also alters the way of their brains work. Moreover, it also influences on the way people interact with others. The internet is now becoming the most popular platform for people to get in touch with others, and it forms the online world. Because of the online community, people are getting used to communicate with each other using their devices. However, the online world where people hide or change their identity changes the way of their understanding others. Moreover, is also alters the way people define truth. The Internet provides many opportunities for people to get and post the knowledge. However, the information online could be wrong depends how people define Authentic. Marshall Poe in his essay “The Hive” discusses about the development of Wikipedia and how it works. Before the invention of Wikipedia, people need to do many research in order to get the truth . However, people now only need to search online and get any information which is not always reliable. Both essays discuss the difference between virtual and real world. Moreover, it shows how the new technology interact with human’s lives. The new technology provides more chances about both the communication and knowledge collection but at the same time limited people’s opportunities to finding the truth. Human is the specie who have to communicate with each other and cooperate together. People used to contact with others by face-to-face and letters which is limited by distance and time. However, the invention of Internet cover the limitations and creates more operations for people to choose. People can talk to anyone at any time without considering the distance and cost. However, because the Internet let people hide their identity, it is different for people to make friends online and understanding a person fully. Christian in his experience express that, “If my finger slips off the tab, if she hits the wrong button on her console, if there is some glitch in my phone provider’s network, or hers- I am anonymous again”(105). Because the identity is covered online, Christian cannot get the real identity of the person who talks with him. Therefore, when they end up this conversation, their interaction end as well. In this way, people cannot build a strong relation with someone who the meet online. The Internet limited people’s relationships and push them far away from each other. Even though, the Internet create more opportunities for people to interact with others, it barriers the chance of building relationships.
