Dear Dr. Knight, I am arguing about teachers assigning fewer homework tasks. I state this because we students have other activities to do, us students need more sleep, and too much homework could be harmful to the health. Students think teachers are assigning too much homework, and I have done some research on it. As part of my research, I took a survey, and when I completed it, my stats showed that 86% of the people I inspected as part of my survey, wanted "fewer homework tasks". Although most of the class community wanted fewer homework assignments, a large amount of my classmates said that they were mostly talking about the amount of middle and high school homework than the amount of elementary school homework.
One reason

For example, students can have extremely little or no social time with family and friends. I have noticed that I am always last to come to the dinner table and the earliest to complete my meal, just to get back to my homework. Also, I sometimes have headaches, I receive exhaustion, I have lost weight, and I have stomach aches. Me and my brother has stress and anxiety attacks when we get a large amount of homework. Another example about why schools should have less homework is that kids stop doing activates and forget stuff. When I fail to receive a decent amount of rest, it is natural for me to forget supplies which occasionally gets me in a disorder. One day after all my classes, I was doing my homework, and I had various amounts of it. When I was in the center of math homework, I heard "Dinner is ready!" I realized "Gosh, I must complete this, so I can study, and work on my presentation."and all I could imagine about is getting my homework done so I stayed put. It was about ten minutes later that I had indeed gone to eat and I rushed to complete my meal. In the morning when I awoke, I arose completely drained. When I went to the school, I forgot an assignment, and a folder and constantly got
When you think about school one of the first things that pops into people’s mind is homework. Basically if you have asked your parents or your grandparents they would say that they remember the homework load. Now we all know that homework can be beneficial but also can be very unhealthy with all of the stress that it causes. Over the years the homework load has increased because of the fact that schools think that they need to try to keep up with other countries in academics. And will doing all of this homework now be all for nothing later? The homework load has increased these past couple of years and it is causing a lot of stress on kids and overall is not helping their academics in the long run.
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
Almost every student in every school question why they get a lot of homework. What they don't know is the reason why. Teachers give a lot of homework because they need prepare the students for tests. They need practice so that they can past the test. I know this because it says it on source one,
Children go to school for seven hours a day, when teachers make them do homework it causes them to get stressed. Furthermore if children understand what they learned at school why do they need to repeat it at home? If children are struggling on a certain subject, teachers should be able to help them directly, not with homework because giving them homework on something they don't know anything about is counterproductive. Instead private tutoring could be something schools provide for failing students and not homework.
If students have a lot of homework and get home around 5:30, it will make it harder for some students to complete homework on time. If they have a big test the next day they will need to study really hard but it will be very late. Students will also try to stay up late to get homework done. The repercussion is that they will be extremely tired the next day and unfocused. Students will also be stressed out over what they need to complete and what still needs to be done.
I am still debating my thoughts on homework and I don’t believe in giving homework for homework’s sake. I believe in giving out 2-3 nights a week of homework that enhances what we are discussing in class and students are given the homework assignment at least every week so that they can plan their weeks in
In conclusion, we can see that the subject of homework has a lot of different views which makes it complex. We have learned about the advantage and disadvantages of homework and whether or not too much homework is assigned to students. Both sides of the issue are supported with studies, facts and opinions. Therefor your stance on the issue is yours to decide.
Students are already stressed because of homework. Teachers would give more homework because they have more time and students would have less time to do it. This would be stressful because students who want to have good grades would have to finish it fast just to get time to spend time doing other things. Imagine what would happen to the struggling kids who need more time to do their homework they will start to fail. Another thing that students need is family time because family is important.
for example if we have homework all the time we will have not time for family and friends. some times our family want go out to eat something , but because you have homework you will can't go and pass time with your family. other example is that you can't sleep because you have homework and if you can't sleep you would be tired the next day and don't put much attention in class and you will can not give your best
If kids have too much homework they wouldn’t get free time to play outside until they finish their homework. Students who care about school wouldn’t do anything fun until they finish their homework which means less physical exercise. Too much homework and no time to play outside is very bad for your health. If you are not getting exercise which means your body will be out of shape. Without playing outside your body can get out of shape and obese because you are not exercising every day. When you have too much homework you would be cramped up in your room studying all day and having no exercise. Students shouldn’t be getting to much homework so they could play outside and be healthy and
Examples/Explanations/Evidence: Some kids have to do up to 5-6 hours a night. They can't play with there friends because they have to do homework. They get less of a chance to read for fun, make friends, play games, get exercise, get some rest, or just be a child.
Students are bombarded with hours of homework every night and it interferes with their lives. They are tired of staying up late at night to finish their homework or a paper that is due the next day. They should not have this workload that they have every night because they also have to live their childhood. Life is too short to be staying up until 11:00 because of schoolwork. Homework is unhealthy for students and it is not academically beneficial for them.
One reason behind this argument is that all homework does not equal higher grades. In other words, just because you do the work that teachers assign, does not mean that the concept of the assignment is fully understood. Basically, students now a day’s give in nonsense work and still get credit for that homework assignment. In addition, when a test or quiz comes up they have no idea what they are doing, and end up getting a horrible grade. Plus, it lowers their grade point average, which hurts their grade because they did the homework.
Homework does not improve the knowledge of today’s students. Homework assignments given nowadays are not directed towards a child’s abilities. In Voorhees’s experience, a fifth grade student was given a reference that was at a twelfth grade reading level (Voorhees, 2011, p.363). If students continue to receive homework that they cannot possibly do, they will not improve. Teachers do not realize that they are giving impossible homework and are setting up their students for failure (Voorhees, 2011, p.363). There are possible reasons for this. One could be that the teachers have a high reading level and can understand the materials given to the students. It may be hard for a teacher to judge what an appropriate reading level is when they have such a vast vocabulary. There is also the possibility that the teacher is tenured and just does not care whether they are teaching correctly anymore because there almost no chance of them being fired. Homework has no direct relation to test score...
Say we have homework for at least three of those classes everyday, kids will not be able to get things done in time. If they also have to attend a mandatory extracurricular activity. The extra work and stress adds onto the already existing homework and projects. Stress is unhealthy for anybody especially teenagers who are still trying to figure out who they are. It may not look it, but it takes a lot of hard work to get everything turned in on time and still have time for to relax.
