Do you receive a paycheck at your job? Most females and males do, and some also work at the same job, and for the same hours. But females don’t get the same amount as men do. Yet women have to care for their families, be able to pay for their home, and even more, just like men. I mean really, as well as men, women work their hearts out. Some women push themselves and go above and beyond, and still, they don't get appreciated like men do. Which leads me to believe, that the pay amount between men and women is very sexist. But it should not be. It should be an even amount of pay for both men and women that are in the same occupation and work the same amount of hours. Females and males work for the same amount of time. Plus, they work equally as hard in that amount of time. Therefore, they should get paid equally, this is a no-brainer. But in reality, women don’t get paid the same amount as men do. I think it is sexist not only because men get paid larger amounts but because of the things some men say. For example construction, some men say that’s a man's job so why should you get paid the same. This here proves people are sexist due to salaries that are given between men and women. Another reason is that women are needed to work seventy more days just to catch up to a man's earnings. But women should not have to catch up. We work just as hard as men, so why should we have to get paid less than them. From this, women are not going to be able to retire as fast as men will. Which is very unfair. Although we like to comfort ourselves with the idea that we have gotten our rightfully earned rights, we had not been given bathroom breaks until 1998. This is a pretty logical idea, however, this is something that is much easier for men to accomplish, given that they are paid a higher wage. They have the ability to put money away, whereas it is more likely that a women is going to have to spend all her wages just on living. She won’t be able to leave a job, even if she hates it, simply because she can not afford to. A man with her same qualifications may not have to worry about this due to the fact that he has on average 23 more cents per every dollar, than she does. This to me seems like the root of sexism, and one of the first things we as a society needs to fix in order to help woman feel more equal in the world.
