Absolutely. And so in you know fact in our senior year of the rising seniors the spring semester of their junior year we. In a lot of time with that classes they formally prepared to take over the team as they become the senior class and you know when I tell him I said a senior class has have to have very high standards because those standards now become the minimum for the team and if you can't because you can't live up to those standards. You almost have to make a decision to eject you know and say you know I cannot be a senior in this team and not have the highest standards because you accept the minimum standard for the rest of the team and so and that that means that the level of maturity. You know do I want to accept that and at the same time or just understand that you're going to have to maintain the standards and if you're not that person that can really do it then you just don't be the person that tries to get out in front of everything and that's a discussion that we have with all of them. Everybody's going to have skill sets and make sure that you know this is not the best person for the situation. If nobody does anything that somebody's going to fill the void. So get out there if that's your skill set. That's your strength get out there and lead. I look at it as deserving to lead it is not when you have a title. Absolutely not. When you when it's just because …show more content…
you have the title. It's because the situation demands it because you're the only person there or you know the urgency of it or whatever. And so when in charge take command or your influence is greater than your position you will have a soft more who has great leadership influence on the rest of team and I encourage that. Don't wait till your senior to spread. You know your influence. So those that's when I look as deserving to lead you normally like you said it's when there's the seniors of that kind of work their way up and they're in there that's the traditional leaders but their past behavior their performance as a freshman sophomore and as a junior is going to determine how much influence they start with as a senior and it's never too late. We can always you know people are very forgiving we understand that we're not perfect people we understand that and so of all that work for people who have not thought have been the best but if all the sudden now they're leading me very well then I go with it. I'll go with it because I get. I think that they have now deserved it. Raphael: Mike that's this advice and I think it probably shows in the successful records you catch not only on the field but in terms of graduating quality people with Damani Abby.
Just to wrap this up a little bit. I know for a long time and he's We've spent a lot of time talking about leadership the excitement about it and of the influence you can have on people and I want to just share with the listeners if you will because (NOT CLEAR) leading people. I mean is it worth all that it's frustration and responsibility to I mean are there great words out there for someone to step in that
leadership. Mike: Yes but you know in the soccer world at least in the college soccer oh it's not financial very good anymore. Yeah everywhere but in the military. It's not going to be that either. And I tell you I'm a soccer coach because I love the game of soccer. It's a passion for me but that's not what keeps me doing it. And that's why I love being at the college level too I think it's one of the last good cancers where you can really more kids to see our players go from their freshman year and to when they graduate into see them now the way they act the way they carry themselves the way they care about each other and the way they look out for each other and then to see them when they've gone on to graduate. You know that guy is now I have players you know who are pretty old because I've been coaching for thirty years. And so you know it's funny I look back I was only a couple years older than I when I first started cooking which means they're only a couple years younger than me now but I see them and they're very successful they're raising great families they're leading great organizations in to me to have the reward is just to see that's what fills my thing is to see what they're doing.
Leadership is about taking personal and social responsibility for working with others to achieve common goals.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
The 1960s was a period well remembered for all the civil rights movements that occurred during that time frame and the impact these movements had on the social and political dynamics of the United States. The three largest movements that were striving in the 1960s were the African American civil rights movement, the New Left movement and the feminist movement. These three movements were in a lot of ways influenced by each other and were very similar in terms of their goals and strategies. However, within each of these movements there were divisions in the way they tried to approach the issues they were fighting against. Looking at each of these movements individually will reveal the relationship they all share as well as the changes that were brought forth as a result of each groups actions.
When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.
At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
The creative class is an emerging socioeconomic class in the United States. Richard Florida, a well-decorated Professor, defined this new class of Americans. Richard Florida focused on social and economic theories, which has developed a popular reputation in many cities today where the creative class has been adopted. This new class of Americans emerged after Richard Florida debuted his book The Rise of the Creative Class: And How it’s Transforming Work, Leisure, Community and Everyday Life in 2002. After 2002 postindustrial cities began to move to more economic development.
In order for a leader to be a leader, he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able to affirmatively influence “on others”. A leader needs to “believe” in himself and have the confidence that whatever you say will excite and what you do can motivate others. You must be optimistic about what you do, to have some relevance to being in existence.
Leaders are the individuals who help to create options and opportunities. They help in identifying the choices and solve the problems. They build commitment and coalitions. Leaders do this by inspiring others and working along with them to construct the shared vision of the possibilities and commitments of a better group, organization or community. They engage the followers in such a way that most of the followers become leaders in their own right. The variety of demands of an increasingly complex world very often require that leadership be shared by most of the members of an organization, in appropriate ways for different situations. A leader is the on...
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
Although there are many outstanding, albeit necessary qualities of a good leader, it is the leader’s beliefs in which greatness is given its first breath, fostered by action, and spread throughout the institution. A great leader believes in encouraging, not destroying; in setting the precedence instead of yielding to prominence ; in collaboration, not division; in giving, not taking; and in having high standards and volunteering to be the first of many to be held to them. A great leader does not take advantage of the people being lead, but instead, creates an advantage for the people by giving them the opportunities to lead. Only when people take ownership of an institution will passion be cultivated, action be taken, and greatness be achieved.
For many years, I have been told by teachers, family, and friends that I am a good leader. Until fairly recently, I had never truly thought about what it means to be a good leader and just took it as a compliment. Leadership is an intangible concept which cannot be properly outlined in a dictionary, but one which must be formed and explained only through one’s own philosophies and experiences.
To inspire and influence others, a leader must have many skills and abilities. As motivational speaker Jim Rohn, states, “ the challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.” (2010) Moving an entire group of individuals toward a singular goal is a considerable undertaking. Without effective communication skills and a clear vision of what needs to be accomplished, one will feel like they are trying to herd cats rather than leading.
Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. Being a leader one must maintain an image of being the role model. I believe that this is leader should be who is someone who has the ability to influence, encourage, listen, and nurture. They are able to inspire, stimulate, persuade, shape, and have an effect on others.

"A leader is an individual (or, rarely, a set of individuals) who significantly affects the thoughts, feelings, and/or behaviors of a significant number of individuals” (Gardner, Howard 2012). An essential part of a leader lies in their ability to motivate and influence people to follow their lead. Leaders are both men and women who have the ability to influence others in a community, control situations, connect with others and persuade others to follow them or the goals they define. To be a good leader one must set a good example and make correct decisions for difficult choices. I myself am implementing leadership skills into my every day life. Leadership skills are all around us. They can be applied to any situation where one may be required to take the lead. This can be
