Self-Reflection
I have completed many team projects in the past, but none that has taught me as much as this experience. Throughout the transition into college I have been learning the importance of organizing my schedule and workload. When it came to organizing for this project, I not only had to organize it with my schedule, but the schedule of three other individuals. Without much class time to complete the project we had to cooperate with one another and accommodate everyone’s busy and sporadic schedules. I believe we all learned about sacrifice throughout. We were sacrificing a certain social event to meet or sacrificing a particular topic that interested us but maybe not the whole group. Everyone gave up something for the betterment of

Our different styles, instead of dividing us, balanced us. We played off each other every well; where one person lacked another picked up with their strengths. This project was a lesson in trust of not only your teammates but yourself. At first, I was comparing my abilities to my high level peers that I was paired with. As we went on I learned to trust that I could contribute to the group in a high manner from my strong suits and I trusted that one of my teammates would assist me in the portions I struggled with. It was a process in learning that you do not have to take on every task yourself to have it done in a quality manner and that your way is not the only way. Finally, I learned how to develop and build up my weaknesses further by observing the strengths of my teammates. From observing Kenzie’s positivity, I have learned and attempted to begin incorporating a positive outlook in every aspect of my life. When something goes wrong, I attempt to change my inner monologue to something positive and learn from the negative situation. I learned from Josh how to understand your teammates in a better way and delegate tasks effectively based on that deeper understanding. Finally, from Ryan I learned how to captivate the audience and draw people in with top-level presentation skills that I hope to incorporate in the remainder of my college and work …show more content…
During the brainstorming topic, my suggestions were not selected but off of them other ideas flowed from group members and we landed on Doctors Without Borders. Albeit a meaningful and impactful leadership group, it did not interest me at the start. When asked if I was okay with the topic, as opposed to actually sharing my disinterest, I remained silent. My lack of interest caused me to push off my research and start off doing a haphazard job. Eventually I realized I was not keeping an open mind and my selfishness would in turn impact the entire group as a whole. It turned out that this topic did indeed reflect some of my interest and values as a person. I am glad I did realize this eventually, but upset that it impacted my group in a less positive way initially. Another one of my weaknesses as a team member was, and always has been, my inflexible schedule. We are all very busy people, but the way my schedule is presently configured does not leave large stretches of time to do work, especially as a group. This meant when trying to schedule our meetings my team members would have to sacrifice and accommodate my schedule more than most other members or begin without me for a portion of our meeting. Looking back at the work, I am proud of how I was able to contribute despite this challenge; I believe we as a group produced a high quality
To begin the Module we had to establish our teams. As we had previously worked together we chose to work with the same group consisting of myself, CG and HW. (Initials used for confidentiality purposes) Throughout this experience I found that effective team work improved our outcomes as topics could be approached from different angles. Each of us were able to contribute our own thoughts and ideas stemming from our individual experiences, practice and settings and we were able to appreciate new perspectives and techniques from one another. For example, I learnt about the positive experiences that free flow play experiences have had at both CG and HW’s settings.
In conclusion, by going through the five stages of team development, resolving the conflicts along the way and utilizing an efficiency model along with an execution strategy, my team effectively completed the task we were assigned as well as gained plenty of team experience for use in our future projects. My team now knows each other’s strengths and weaknesses much better and will definitely utilize this knowledge to further enhance our team’s efficiency and effectiveness in the future.
Upon completion of these assessments, the work place team is then formed, acquiring team members based upon the needs of the project, mission or goal of the team. The team then proceeds to learn about each other. In learning about one another, individual learning styles must be identified to gain an understanding of how to maximize team performance by capitalizing on team members' strengths via learning styl...
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
From the beginning, where we were unfamiliar with each other and became a team, my team and I had started to learn each other name and getting to know each other. Throughout each meeting, we slowly start to feel more comfortable and open minded with each other. Not only are we getting familiar with each other, each meeting that was held we progress of becoming an effective team member, we learn our strengths and weaknesses of everyone. During the meetings, we learn many concepts from the textbook, “Communicating in Small Groups: Principles and Practices” by Steven A. Beebe and John T. Masterson. We were able to learn different types of concept in the textbook and utilized it as a team to complete certain tasks. The three concepts that impacted my team and I are human
Building effective teams is of increasing importance in modern organisations. According to study, organisational performance and the satisfaction derived by individuals are influenced by the interactions among members of the group. Therefore, teachers try to build a small HRM Module group to make us understand directly how important the group work is; how will the group works and What is the affection about behaviour of individual. This essay will examine that I reflect on how my personal behaviour affected the other members of the group and influenced the group’s overall success or failure. ‘Reflection is an important human activity in which people recapture their experience, think about it and evaluate it. It is this working with experience that is important in learning’ (Boud, D., Keogh, R. & Walker, D. 1985). And then, approaches to conflict management will be the central academic theme. The experience I will focus on is the process of group decision making.
The personal project is a mandatory process in the MYP (middles year programme) that I need to be able to start my IB diploma. For my personal project I decided to learn how to build and a longboard and then finalise my project. I thought of this project because I myself am a rider. I first tried longboard when i was 13 years old and i really liked it and since then it is one of my passions. Therefore i decided to build my own and proper longboard.

Throughout this group project, I had an opportunity to observe and reflect how my personality traits contributed to and hindered the success of the team. According to the Big Five Model, I identify myself as low on extroversion, moderate on neuroticism as well as openness and high on agreeableness and conscientiousness.
Throughout this semester I have learned so much about myself in many different aspects. I learned that I am the direction south and the color blue. For one thing I know that I want to hear what everybody’s opinion before make a decision. I have learned things about my personality that are will be benefit and things that are not a great when working in groups. For example I am a very cooperative person but I am also very dependent on others for ideas. I also learned that I am a collaborator when it comes to being a team player. I try to keep the group focused on the goals and purpose of the activity. I am also the team player that will do whatever it takes to get the team to reach the final goal. Throughout the semester I have improved my skills and realize what areas I need to improve in communication, working in groups, and organization.
Community projects are well known for giving students the opportunity to be able to express them selves and learn new tasks and responsibilities. Although, through out my community project path I found myself finding the right lace to learn and achieve the goals as well as the responsibilities and the role of the experience. Yet, the project wasn’t an easy project because I had to deal with different case mangers and different clients. However, through trying and working on my goals, I was to develop my learning experience in term of making healthy relationship with my clients.
...rks. In a word, the MA experience was considered to be a bridge that combines the student learning with working skills, it would be of great help for my future career.
Throughout this term, my fellow classmates and I have had a chance to participate in a group project with two or three of our peers. The general topic was a vivid problem in a industry. Our class had a very wide and diverse sets of topics: from Styrofoam, to industrial hacking, to corruption in an influential international organization like FIFA, and so many more. Our group decided to develop a project named “Outsourcing and the price we pay for brands”. The name itselves is somewhat self-explanatory, however the problem is so much more complicated and interesting. In this paper, many struggles and concerns, of the group and of my my own, will be unfolded as I reflect the progress of this project.
