The following essay will be a self-reflection on the use of interpersonal skills demonstrated throughout the course. There will be reference to experiences in the Weekly Workshops, In-Class Interaction Session, Skill Video, and Tutorial Exercises and how the skills gained transitioned to be useful within my personal life. Within the essay there will also be discussion into my personal strengths and weaknesses and how I have or aim to improve and continue to improve on my interpersonal skills. Weekly Workshops began at the start of the semester for the duration of 6 weeks. These workshops developed our skills in the context of counseling a client. In the 6 weeks of workshops we focused on skills such as listening, door openers, minimal encouragers, infrequent and open questions, empathic/attentive silence, reflection of feeling and content, assertive, submissive and aggressive behaviour. In this class we were assessed on our attendance, level of participation and developing skill level. I believed I met the criteria within the terms of attendance for the workshop. Skills demonstrated with in the first scene of a road rage incident were escalating assertion, managing emotions, aggressive behaviour, problem solving and submission. I believe the behaviours displayed in this scene were accurately presented. Feedback toward my acting in the scene would be it was unnecessary to break out of character, as there was a moment of laughter. The second scene was based on a blind date where the skills inappropriate discloser, avoidant, appropriate disclosure were demonstrated. I played the part of a naïve woman on her first blind date faced with an experienced dater. In the scene one can identify the inappropriate
