One can groom their dog, cat, car, musical instrument or anything that is significant to them. Focus of this book is on grooming our hearts, bodies and our homes. For us to be persons who are clean and well-groomed, we need to pay particular attention to our inner selves. Motivation to being pro-active in doing things does not come from the outside but from the inside. If people are anxious, isolated and depressed, you can rest be assured they won’t even pick-up that trash they are seeing, spread their bed, wash their bodies, let alone dress appropriately or making an effort to keep up appearances. They would be choke-full bored and giving up on almost everything in this life such as leaving their hair anyhow, spending too much time in bed and generally being careless about almost everything. In other words deportment is being very careful about everything in this life. It poises as the opposite of the later. Deportment is paying particular detail and attention to your very own personal grooming in aspects of keeping -up appearances, staying fresh or refreshed in both mind and spirit. It is an on-going process of liking oneself and validating all your efforts of lively-hood-ness. It is telling your-self that you can do it and make it in this life. Deportment involves walking tall and maintaining an up-right posture, chest out and tummy in like a virgin carrying a pitcher over her head.
