Session 1 Session name- Self awareness Date-30.07.15 Introduction Self-awareness is a psychological state in which people are aware of their traits, feelings and behavior. Alternately, it can be defined as the realization of oneself as an individual entity." (Crisp & Turner, 2010) Self-awareness is the ability to introspect and to distinguish as an individual separate from the environment and other individuals. Self-awareness is basically what one knows about himself or herself. It is a kind of understanding of what one is. An individual by the way of self-awareness tends to find about himself as what his strengths and weaknesses are. So by this the individual knows that in which area he lacks and he can improve. It’s necessary to be aware of one’s qualities as it not only helps an individual to excel in an administrative role but it makes them more effective leader, manager, teacher, learner, colleague and partner. Now that I have better understanding of things about. So now I can deal with problems effectively. If I as professional do not know things about myself and at some point of time something triggers me and I gave a particular response and I am unable to think about it as why did I do that? The client can sense that I am not sure about myself and if he/she thinks like that then how am I going to help him. So it’s important to have knowledge about yourself. This helps an individual to strengthens his/her decision making power because now he/she has confidence in himself/herself as they are aware of themselves. He/she has confidence as whatever decision he/she has made is good for him/her. As a professional it’s important to know about myself as I will be able to help my clients to deal with their problems in a more effective
