1. What strategies do secondary teachers employ to deliver effective instruction?
In the secondary classrooms, the instructions are straightforward. Unlike the elementary classrooms, the teacher does not have to walk the students step by step in everything. Some of the time the students work on their own. in the 8th grade science class I observed, the teacher broke down the instructions to help the students better understand. Repetition was used to insure the students knew the material that was reviewed during the lesson. When previewing the work, they were going to answer, the teacher reads the questions and referenced them back to where they should look to find the answers to the question. Most of the classroom activates are operated by using technology to assist the teachers. In the elementary classroom, the teacher uses technology for the whole lesson. She uses the ELMO for the notes over the lesson she is going to teach. A computer and projector is used to display the videos that help break down the lesson. A Smart Board is used to display the quiz questions and allow the students to answer as a class by clicking the right answer. In the secondary classroom technology is used just not as much. The Elmo is still used for the notes, And the projector and computer are still used for videos. All the attendance and grades were taken on a computer. They have a program where they enter the grade and it calculates everything for them. They have a system where they simply check whether the student is present or absent and it is sent straight to the office. Technology makes up most of the classrooms. In the secondary grade level, each student is granted a laptop to submit online assignments and keep up with work that is due. I would use technology, just not as much. When relying on technology things can mess up. I like the thought of using technology, but I would use it like the secondary teacher used
