Autobiography
Science is a subject where a lot of students dislike it and a lot that enjoy it. I am a student that enjoys it. For as long as I remember, I have always enjoyed science. My first real science class was in sixth grade. My teacher was very good at giving demonstrations and letting us do many hands on experiments. Some of his best lessons were when he would give a demonstration and then let us try and figure out what caused it. This just furthered my interest in science. Every year after that science was my best subject. Also, by this time I started to think that a career in science could be a possible future. Around eighth grade I started to do research on careers that had to do with science. In high school I took some type of science class

Also I joined a biology club. My favorite class in high school was zoology. We looked at many different animals and also got to work with real specimens. During this time I thought that zoology could be in my future. In the biology club we did many things outside of school. My favorite was testing the water in the local river. We collected many insects and water organisms and determined how clean or dirty the river was. I really enjoyed being outside gathering data and then finding results from that data. Continuing my research in what I was going to do after graduation I found out that Northern had zoology as a major. Zoology was always my main science interest ever since the class I took in high school. Once I got to Northern and took some classes in biology and zoology, I started to second guess myself. Finding out that zoology was for me was kind of hard because it was something that I thought I wanted to study. But now I am an Elementary Education Integrated Science major and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to bring my knowledge of science into
Bill Nye the science guy uses the “finding Humor” habitat of mind and creating, innovating, and illuminating. He finds creative ways to teach such as music videos and funny clips. He makes the learning instead of boring fun and kids rather fun learning the basic facts. He achieved a goal by being creative and finding humor. One other thing he does well is communicating with clarity and precision. Bill Nye shows he can do this because of his impact on kids, he communicates very well, which allows his audience to understand him. His teachings help the children of today learn about science and he did that by thinking of a creative way to teach science and along with it be
But that year was biology and we were able to do so many school in class projects like dissecting a squid and using its ink pouch to write my name, catching bugs then killing them and pinning them to egg cartons and working on classifications. For a bunch of 12 year olds all the learning we did was through actually doing the science or looking at real live/dead things. This I found to be the best way to learn. Actually working with the thing we were learning about did not only engage each student much more, but it made science fun and a class to look forward to each
Science became my favorite subject. I developed a love for learning about science including everything from environmental studies, to genetics, to anatomy, to astronomy, etc. When I started my first semester at Harford Community College in the Fall of 2014, I set out for a job in a veterinary clinic. I needed more clinical experience to eventually get into vet school. I had heard about the Veterinary Assistant program at HCC and wondered if that would be a program worth pursuing.
When he was asked what advice he would give to someone entering this field, he replied that some days will be trying, and some students may test your patience at times, but the outcomes and rewards are completely worth it. Being a science teacher can be tricky, but he loves the job, the challenges, the rewards, and his
In the degree that I am seeking I know there will be a lot of science to take. Science has always come natural to me, possibly because you can actually see the product and touch it. I plan to become a veterinarian not just for the love of animals but for the science and knowledge also. The dissecting of animals has always been interesting to me. It is a whole new world that I can wait to explore even more. It is amazing how God made living creatures. I just want to help keep them form getting sick and doctoring them when they do.
When I began high school, I was a little lost. My English was still frail- which was one of the reasons I kept to myself. When my homeroom teacher passed me the paper to choose a “career path,” I didn’t know what I was doing. All the words jumbled in my head and I didn’t bother to ask because I did not know how. I think I chose ‘cosmetology’ probably because it sounded like its Spanish version. Nevertheless, my sophomore year, things started to clear up, I was now considered fluent and actually understood what was happening. That same year I changed my cluster to STEM- I have always loved science and I truly knew that was my passion. Everyday after class, I would go home and read more on the subject. Passing hours on end reading through science journals and reading recent studies wasn’t a strange day for me.
A substantial part of the enjoyment that will come from pursuing a STEM degree is knowing it is something that I have always wanted to do since I was a young girl. When I was about 10 years old, I started to watch the Discovery Channel on television. These shows captured my attention and my love for science, and ultimately led me to want to pursue a career in the science field. Then, when I was a freshman in high school, I realized my true love of science from honors Biology and being introduced to the microscope. Now, three years later as a senior in high school, I am continuing my love of science by taking AP Biology. Throughout my life, my experiences have only strengthened my love and enjoyment in this field.
I have always been fascinated with science-oriented interests. I remember being young and intrigued by the complexity of the human body. As I grew, puzzles and critical thinking became essential to my learning process.
Not everybody loves Biology,.. either do I. I always terrify at those subjects. They are difficult, dry, bloody, and involved to a lot of memorization. A side from that there are tons of reasons that hold me back from becoming a nurse. I don’t like the subjects, I am scared of blood. Despite all of that, I found that it is challenging. When I was in 11th grade I had the passion for chemistry. I like doing all the labs, observing chemical reactions, and combine or calculate the percentage of substances. I always think that chemistry is the most excited class I have ever took besides math, and foreign language.
As a child in middle school, I started thrusting myself in my academic career. I joined Science Olympiad, in which students compete in different sciences. I competed in events such as astronomy or anatomy and from this point on the passion for science grew. When I entered high school, I continued my career with Science Olympiad, but decided I needed to broaden my perspective. There had to be more than science olympiad, a whole new field that would let me practice and see science working at one of it's best.
two semesters of science, which changed my life. In my junior year I changed my major to
Basic Biology was something that I always wanted to complete. It would provide me a better understanding of whatever my family doctor says whenever I go to see him for a check up and how certain foods affect my body.
Most native american families are patriarchal. This was true for CB’s family growing up as well. He said that his father was in charge of most decisions that were made but he did consult with his mother before finalizing them. His household that he lives in now is more balanced between the two or even slightly matriarchal. CB’s wife likes to take charge and make decisions while CB is a more relaxed person that worries about problems as they come. CB has five children and when they were growing up they were all expected to do the same chores as one another no matter what their gender was. This is contrary to the standard Native American way of life where the women would take care of the children and do the cooking while the men would hunt and fight other tribes (Dayer-Berenson,
I am one of the very few select in high school who opting for a Career choice has been effortless. As a young ,curious minded girl, I have always obtained a passion for medicine and animals. When I stumbled upon the veterinary field I knew exactly what I was going to do. In high school I was introduced to many other career paths such as infectious disease , cardiology, neurology and many more gratifying jobs but none of them involved animals. I desired a job which involved animal conservation as well as medicine. At first, I had a different notion about Zoology. I believed a Zoologist only takes care of animals in Zoo's. It later on in Life came to my knowledge that Zoological medicine is a specialty in veterinary medicine that addresses wildlife
...o listen carefully to ensure that kids are discussing scientific ideas, not socializing. The teacher's role is to ensure that students achieve their primary goal: meaningful understanding of scientific concepts. The practices described in this article help bring this about in several ways. When instruction centers on students and focuses on hands-on experience with scientific phenomena, science class becomes an exciting place. When instruction concentrates on the investigation of current problems and issues through scientific inquiry, science class becomes a relevant and meaningful place. When instruction emphasizes the development of communication skills, science class becomes an invaluable place for preparing children to tackle the challenges of adulthood. And the education community owes it to its students to assess their academic progress fairly and accurately.
