Look to the left of you then the right. Rememer those people you just looked at now BANG. That one person, is on the ground bleeding from a bullet wound. You are now a victim of a school shooting, you now are one of those kids from Parkland who survived and their friend just died. Imagine bringing your little brother or sister to the movies and gun shots are fired, your sibling now knows the hard truth that superheros aren’t real and that they can’t save them now. Imagine going to a party or concert and bullets rain down or come from the side and everyone around you drops. THESE are things many fear today.Guns have been an issue since the Columbine Shooting in Colorado. Why can’t there be restrictions to it? It seems all this place has in mind …show more content…
So was Dylann Roof, the man who shot 9 people in Church, “protecting” himself? Was Nikolas Cruz “protecting” himself when he killed 17 high school students? This makes our constitution look like a joke and a look of false hope. Should I be scared to go to a movie with my loved ones, worried that this is the end? Should I be scared to walk into class and think today is a great day then hear “GUN!” ? Should I be scared to go to a party or huge gathering and be scared bullet will rain down? Or lastly should I be scared to spend my Sunday in church and be scared the door will be kicked open to a shooter. I AM A CHILD! I SHOULD NOT FEAR THESE THINGS RIGHT NOW! I should wake up everyday, do my work and be worried about my grades and graduation and not guns and bullets. The NRA and Trump believe that arming teachers with guns will keep students safe but an incident on March 14th CNN reports a student getting injured due to a teacher “Accidentally” shooting the ceiling and debris hitting a student, imagine if that student got killed? Would Trump just blame the teacher a resourse officer not trained enough? Or say its the students fault? The NRA blamed the pastor of the church for not having a gun to protect those 9 killed in the Charleston Church, New York Daily News reported, a place close to home. Then simply diagnose “Mental Illness” for these things. Are we

I am tired of living in total fear that my school, town, or any other public place will be the new breaking news of a shooting. No person right in the head will go around shooting up a school or anywhere else because they were angry at the people there. If we want to actually do something other than cry we need to know the first step in how these things happen. 1)person makes plan 2)person buys gun 3)peruses plan. We may no be able to stop a person thought process but we can sure as heck change how someone messed up enough to kill people to buy a gun. There is no reason for those type of people to be aloud to. How am I supposed to go to school and leave my house without thinking "wow, this could be it". Today I walked out of school to see police
This was a very informative article. I was unaware of all the deaths in result of gun violence. I didn’t realize that people who worked for the government or who was in congress were often targets. In order to fully get rid of gun violence in schools, each and every school should have metal detectors that can detect weapons and always have security guards on duty. By doing this, parents are more comfortable with sending their students off to school. Taking this step in every school around the world would definitely cost lots of money but it will honestly be worth it. After all the school shooting we’ve heard about, we’d definitely be saving plenty of lives just in case an incident does happen. I went to highschool in a rough neighborhood and
It is a sad time in American history when one can easily recount recent school shootings in their own area. This ease stems from a sharp increase in the number of firearms brought into elementary and middle schools across the country, with an intense focus on the issue beginning after the shooting of 20 children from Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. Most school shooters are male, white, and often upper middle class. They are also more, often than not, under some type of mental stress that is causing them to create this type of violence in our communities. In fact, many school shooters are never suspected of doing any harm to their peers and teachers until it is much too late.
One of the most heavily debated subjects today in the United States is guns. Over the last few years, mass shootings and spree shootings have been covered widely in the media. It leaves many Americans wondering how we can just sit by and let this happen. However, this is no easy task to attempt to solve or something that will just go away overnight. Taking away the guns won 't solve anything or just fix the problem as a whole. The United States constitution not only protects, but guarantees the right to bear arms as an American citizen. Why should we let the acts of a few sick and mentally ill ruin the right for the rest of law abiding citizens. The focus should center more around tougher background checks and mental health. Many Americans,
School shootings are the leading death by a fire arm in the United States. What motivates these people to want to kill others? Acts of violence at schools is not a new thing. School shootings date back to the 18th century. However, school shootings are growing more common in this day in age. What motivates these people to want to kill others? With social networks more and more people are being bullied, which results in more kids snapping and shooting up their school. Bullying isn’t the only reason for school shooting, now smart kids are snapping under the pressure of unrealistic standards set for them by their honors teachers. In high school teens get the choice to take honors classes, or regular classes. The biggest difference in these classes
All over the world there are problems with guns. How do we stop the issue? That is the big question. Many places have totally outlawed guns, yet some make them a requirement. Which one is going to benefit our country more? Government seems to think that gun control is the right thing – no one should have guns.
When we talk about death by gun violence most people think about mass shooting at a school and it is very easy to fall into one of two categories. Either all gun violence deaths are cause by the gun or by the gun owner. But to understand gun violence deaths it is important to understand what exactly gun violence is. Gun violence is a combination of different circumstances: from kids finding his or her father’s gun to spree killing to mass murder to domestic violence to gang violence. Solutions cannot be found as one big idea; there is no “one size fits all.” Gun regulations should stay the as they are currently because too many laws make it harder for people who use guns for protection to get guns, criminals will get guns easier if there are
There are many different types of school violence. The one that gets the most public attention is school shootings. The term school shooting is basically defined as an act where a student, school staff member, or intruder from the outside commits an act on the school campus. One of the most well known school shootings took place at Columbine High School near Littleton, Colorado. On a Tuesday April 20,1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, students at Columbine High School, took the lives of thirteen other students before taking the lives of their own. When we think of events like this, we have many questions that go through our mind. Thoughts like why did this happen, could it have been prevented, and how did impact the individuals involved just to name a few. There are probably several more thoughts that go through the minds of a nation when we hear about traumatic evens such as a school shooting.
Guns kill people. That is the way society thinks now-a-days. Everyone is now becoming an expert on all things guns just so they can have a say in how the United States should regulate gun usage. If half the people who want to ensure more restrictions are put on guns actually understood how to use them and understood the pros of concealed carry—or even open carry—they would stop being so anti-gun. Open and concealed carry could potentially be a problem solver in these mass shootings. A victim possessing a gun can create intimidation between shooter and victim, and the said victim could in turn use his weapon to stop the offender from killing.
Eighty-nine people die from gun violence in the United States every day according to the Brady Campaign , from school children to victims of domestic violence to people going about their daily lives. As we mourn the lives of those killed in incidents of gun violence across the country, we need to take action. We should all do everything in our power to keep tragedies like this from happening again. When it comes to addressing mass shootings, we need new answers
Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that each individual must take responsibility for his or her own actions. The must not blame guns for problems caused by people. .
“The more energy they have to gin up to execute their plan, the harder it will be to do so” (Newman). When “Would be shooters” are faced with a challenge they most likely don’t go through with their plan. The dedicated shooters are those who intend on finding guns and shooting people, those who have the drive. “Totally dedicated shooters” are the type of people who wont give up whether the guns are accessible to them legally or illegally. Dedicated shooters have a plan of action and intend on going through with it. These types of people likely suffer from mental illnesses. “The abnormally high level of school shootings in America is not solely a gun issue a mental health issue, or a media issue, but rather a problem caused by a combination of mental illness problems, social inequality, gun control policies, and the structure of schools”(Gupta, 2016). Structural inequalities in the United States cause stress, which lead people to turn to radical measures. Factors such as economic change, racism and social changes cause constraints on behavior. Mental health is also a leading factor to school shootings. “Metzl and MacLeish’s research shows that up to 60 percent of mass shootings in the United States since 1970 involved shooters displaying symptoms of mental illnesses—including paranoia, depression, and delusions—and the evidence suggests that
Some school are making their school a gun free zone. However, it is true that some people try to attack gun free zone because they know that no one has a gun to kill them back. Even people call the police, it takes time for the police to come and shooting does not take that much time to kill people. To solve this problem I think the campus safety should carry guns. Also, teachers may have a right to have guns, too. When the shooter comes into the classroom the teachers are the only adult that could protect the students. To protect children they all have to be trained how to use the gun. Also it is necessary for teachers and campus safety to have a mental health care periodically. There are many scientist who are researching about what kind of people tend to become mental illness and when do they become so. Unfortunately there is no strong evidence so, it is very important to watch out for the mental health of people who carries
