This was a very informative article. I was unaware of all the deaths in result of gun violence. I didn’t realize that people who worked for the government or who was in congress were often targets. In order to fully get rid of gun violence in schools, each and every school should have metal detectors that can detect weapons and always have security guards on duty. By doing this, parents are more comfortable with sending their students off to school. Taking this step in every school around the world would definitely cost lots of money but it will honestly be worth it. After all the school shooting we’ve heard about, we’d definitely be saving plenty of lives just in case an incident does happen. I went to highschool in a rough neighborhood and
we had to go through metal detectors each morning while entering school. We have no gun violence accidents to date at all. Guns should not be allowed in schools period. There are less harmful weapons that school authorities can have access too. Guns are too risky for the sake of children's lives. Wayne LaPierre argues in favor of laws permitting gun ownership and for having armed guards in schools. Mark kelly has been effective by such gun violence and in some ways he is in opposition. Gaining support for these arguments remind me of the fallacy of popular appeal. Knowing these people's experiences and stories with gun violence makes people become sadden and they begin to feel sympathy so they do whatever it takes to be on their bandwagon.
Second I am going to discuss the differences between the two articles. These two articles have a variety of differences. The main difference is how they are going to prevent another shooting. The NRA focuses more on a program called National School Shield Emergency Program. This program focuses getting a trained security officer put in every school to help protect the children. Making them more strict so individuals have to renew them every couple of years. It also talks about going threw safety and fire training requ...

...e can finally put some of the missing puzzle pieces together. Such as the motives Adam Lanza had for the shootings, and why he targeted children. Also with a little knowledge about how school shootings/violence is increasing every day. We can see how most of these shootings are always relating about the same motives, bulling. Understanding the characteristics of the shooters and the causes of most school violence/shootings can help us look for signs and hopefully stop the tragedy before it happens. As a future teacher, I know what kind of signs to look for in my students or people in general to help them before an event like the Sandy Hook happens again. Hopefully the government will come to a complete choice about gun laws and we can start to see some kind of different on their end. However, this issue needs to be focused more on for us to start seeing a decrease.
I am tired of living in total fear that my school, town, or any other public place will be the new breaking news of a shooting. No person right in the head will go around shooting up a school or anywhere else because they were angry at the people there. If we want to actually do something other than cry we need to know the first step in how these things happen. 1)person makes plan 2)person buys gun 3)peruses plan. We may no be able to stop a person thought process but we can sure as heck change how someone messed up enough to kill people to buy a gun. There is no reason for those type of people to be aloud to. How am I supposed to go to school and leave my house without thinking "wow, this could be it". Today I walked out of school to see police

It is a sad time in American history when one can easily recount recent school shootings in their own area. This ease stems from a sharp increase in the number of firearms brought into elementary and middle schools across the country, with an intense focus on the issue beginning after the shooting of 20 children from Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut. Most school shooters are male, white, and often upper middle class. They are also more, often than not, under some type of mental stress that is causing them to create this type of violence in our communities. In fact, many school shooters are never suspected of doing any harm to their peers and teachers until it is much too late.

On a Tuesday April 20,1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, students at Columbine High School, took the lives of thirteen other students before taking the lives of their own. When we think of events like this, we have many questions that go through our mind. Thoughts like why did this happen, could it have been prevented, and how did impact the individuals involved just to name a few. There are probably several more thoughts that go through the minds of a nation when we hear about traumatic evens such as a school shooting.

Specific Purpose Statement: To persuade my audience that each individual must take responsibility for his or her own actions. The must not blame guns for problems caused by people. .
On December 20th 2012, an armed gunman walked into Sandy Hook elementary school and shot twenty seven children. This event had a huge impact on people’s emotions. However this is not the first shooting that has happened in schools. Furthermore, bullets are not the only weapons that are being carried into school campuses and class rooms. These types of crimes have happened too many times in the 20th century and this shows how weak the school safety plans are.
Assignment 2: Persuasive Paper Part 1: A Problem Exists Frank Wilkins ENG 215 Research and Writing Professor David Coia Recently we have had to many shootings in our schools. This is a long post but I think it is worth reading. All that has been on my mind since that school shooting yesterday is the hurt so many people in Florida are experiencing today. Parents waking up today facing the fact that they will never get to see their child again. It breaks my heart I can’t even imagine the heartache that they are going through.
28% of U.S. students in 6-12 grade have been bullied. 30% admit have have done the bullying. 70.6% of students say they have seen bullying in their school. 70.4% of school staff have seen bullying and 62% witnessed bullying two or more times in the last month and 41% witness bullying once a week or more. That is disheartening that teachers would look away or ignore someone who is getting bullied and is in needed of help. Bullying can really affect students and how they look at themselves and what they think of themselves. If we as adults and teachers don 't help our students out in a time of need they aren 't going to trust us. Some things we should do to make school a more safer place for students is we should have teachers monitoring the hallways between passing time. Be more assertive when punishing a student for bullying. Furthermore we should always be on the lookout for bullying and if we see it happening stop as soon as possible.
