To be qualified for the UBC scholarships, you will be selected by your school counselors for the grant as it is competitive.
Most of the well reputed Canadian universities are public universities and they don't provide the international students with a lot of money. As most students will ask for scholarships for black women, you might need to rethink again "Why would it be a good idea for Canadian universities to" provide full tuition scholarships to International students.
That’s totally free money to foreign students who will not benefit the country after their graduation. Most great universities in Canada will cost you around CAD 18,000 to CAD 25,000 just for tuition

The Canadian economy could be hurt badly if the funds are spent mostly on post secondary education. The funds are generated by taxpayers and if all high school students want to pursue a free post secondary education, then the Canadian government will have to raise taxes. Since the Canadian citizens already pay high taxes, they will not be willing to pay more taxes on top
Poverty is a serious issue in Canada needs to be addressed promptly. Poverty is not simply about the lack of money an individual has; it is much more than that. The World Bank Organization defines poverty by stating that, “Poverty is hunger. Poverty is lack of shelter. Poverty is being sick and not being able to see a doctor. Poverty is not having access to school and not knowing how to read. Poverty is not having a job, is fear for the future, living one day at a time”. In Canada, 14.9 percent of Canada’s population has low income as Statistics Canada reports, which is roughly about two million of Canadians in poverty or on the verge of poverty. In addition, according to an UNICEF survey, 13.3 percent of Canadian children live in poverty. If the government had started to provide efficient support to help decrease the rates of poverty, this would not have been such a significant issue in Canada. Even though the issue of poverty has always been affecting countries regardless of the efforts being made to fight against it, the government of Canada still needs to take charge and try to bring the percentage of poverty down to ensure that Canada is a suitable place to live. Therefore, due to the lack of support and social assistance from the government, poverty has drastically increased in Canada.
Since BSC is Test Optional, I believe that there should not be a test score requirement. I believe the minimum GPA to apply should be a 2.5. I believe a separated essay and interview should be required for this scholarship. A scholarship committee should produce possible scholarship questions. The deadline shall be February 1st.
In order to maintain a normal lifestyle, single mothers have to shoulder a lot of responsibilities- running errands and spending time with their kids, besides having to work for long durations at office. Statistically speaking, almost 38 out of every 100 single moms lie below the poverty level, which can be obviated if they possess a bachelor’s degree. For receiving proper education, women like these need financial aids to support themselves through undergraduate school. Thus, keeping in mind such conditions, certain college scholarships have been proposed to financially assist single mothers.
The average income in Canada is 76,000 per year, that is a lot more than India. Compared to the 276 million people that live in poverty in India, Canada only has 4.9 million people who are living in poverty. While that is still a lot of people, that is a lot less than India. There seems to be a big wage gap as well for women in Canada. Canadian women earn seventy-two cents for every dollar earned by a man. That can lend a huge hand in the current poverty issues facing Canada. I thought we were breaking the glass ceiling but it seems we have a long way to go. While there is poverty in Canada it is not anywhere close to what India is experiencing. Canadians have access to government assistance and better access to jobs. In Canada they offer universal healthcare as well as access to public education. Those are two things India is lacking. Free healthcare means better health and the ability to work and provide for yourself. Canadians also have access to education, the more educated you are the more likely you are to excel in your future. What I found interesting was the fact that the poverty most Canadians experience is only temporary, about 60 percent of people only go through it for a short time. When I looked at India’s situation, the people living there seemed to deal with poverty their entire lives if they were born into poverty. Canada has a lot more policies in place to help people excel and better their
For many years now, advocates for giving out scholarships based only on financial need have been pushing to remove special abilities from the criteria to award the money. This proposed system is already in use in the form of financial aid. Scholarships were created to reward individuals who exhibited talent that would benefit the college. Therefore, the basis for giving scholarships should consist equally of scholastic achievement, athletic ability, and need. Scholarships are in place to reward special talents. They should remain separate from financial aid where the only determining factor is need.
The Texas Student Housing scholarship will allow me an opportunity to work towards a clear foundation of my future business – one which I am determined will ameliorate the world. Without this scholarship, much of my efforts will be used towards paying for housing and tuition. However, with this scholarship, I will be able to efficiently allocate my time and resources towards my business, which I hope will help elicit happiness from people in Austin and eventually, countries across the world. As a result, I value this scholarship as a necessity.
The average student debt in Canada is approximately $26,000. Would you be able to afford that amount of debt as a young individual if you do not come from a rich family? In Canada, approximately 40% of students do not pursue post-secondary education due to financial barriers. Therefore, post-secondary education should be free because more educated people will lead to a better society, it currently leaves many people in debt, and would lead to an equal opportunity for all.

Many governments, including Malaysia, Vietnam, China and Chile to name a few, operate large scholarship programs that support high performing students to undertake graduate studies abroad, typically professional masters and doctoral studies in fields that are national priorities, and often with a bias toward the natural sciences (OECD and World Bank 2010, pp. 46–52). Masters degrees are often funded by a particular government department as a way of recruiting the brightest graduates and bringing international experience into middle management. Doctoral studies are often funded by the Ministry of Education as a way of developing the country’s academic labor force to support the expansion of universities. Perhaps the largest scholarship scheme
John Williams Cat Weiner Proper Allocation for College Scholarships Fairness is a principle that western society ingrains in its people. But what is fair when everyone cannot get the same treatment. Whether it is vaccinations, welfare, or in this case college scholarships, allocation must be used when there are not enough resources to go around. There are many ways to allocate resources, some working better than others.
