Career counselors fill extremely demanding positions requiring an unusual amount of effort to accomplish their mission. The Table of Distribution (TDA) only allows one career counselor position, in every Battalion. The amount of personnel fluctuates between 300-800 Soldiers. As identified above MOS 79S, is currently experiencing a shortage causing an additional workload within a small team of NCOs adding additional stress to an already demanding position. The unique skill set a career counselor possesses are different from any other MOS. Career counselors utilize an automated system called RETAIN. Once a career counselor successfully graduates from the basic career counselor course, they receive access to RETAIN. HQDA and HRC both monitor this system. Only those authorized personnel career counselors have access to this automated system. While a unit can assign an additional duty reenlistment, Noncommissioned officer (NCO) to fill the position they will not have access to
Next, Peter and the LCSW explored pre-session changes(PSC). The LCSW asked, “what changes have there been since our 24 Hour Initial Contact?” Peter responded that he is more aware his problems. Since this was a positive change, the LSCW asked, “how did you avoid falling apart now that you are more aware of these issues?” PSC was explored at the start of each session by this question: “What’s different, or better since I saw you last time?”

Richard Rodriguez author and journalist wrote a short piece “Scholarship Boy” to explain to his audience of underprivileged children wanting a better future, the scarifies he endured as a young child: the loss of family ties and knowing himself in order to succeed a better self. Another great author who faced huge sacrifices is known as none other than abolitionist leader Fredrick Douglass, “Learning to Read and Write” giving his found audience a look into the various dangerous tasks he took to give himself a better chance of survival. The two pieces show how one boy sacrificed so much in order to free himself and the other coming from less harsh circumstances but understand sacrifices just as well. All to be able to have a better and brighter future.
You must be able to reach them in a timely manner, in case the plan of the day has changed. The Marine Corps cannot function without its most important tool, the MARINES. One of the smallest and most important aspects of being Marines, being where you are supposed to be and doing what you are supposed to be doing. If your leadership is unaware that you are doing these things then they are to assume you are not completing the task assigned or never made it to the required event. As Marines we are designed to be a force in readiness, able to deploy and execute missions within a limited time frame. Getting an entire unit up and ready to deploy requires a lot of moving parts which make communication and accountability on all levels important. Formations and gear inspections have become so ingrained in the USMC culture because you need to have the proper personal and equipment to complete the mission. Without the proper personnel in the proper place at the proper time the Marine Corps as a whole cannot
This Code mingled old laws with new ones (Pound 2002). Under the new, commanding officers retained much power. This includes the responsibility to convene court-martials and choose jury panels. New checks were introduced, however, and these were similar to civilian procedures. The new Code created a formal appellate review system, which included the US Court of Military Appeals, now known as the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. More importantly, it expanded protections. It gave serviceman the right to remain silent and to be informed that any statement could be used against them at court-martial. The Code also gave them free military defense counsel in serious court-martial trials. From 1968 to 1983, court-martial t...

...es too much room for error. Giving yourself enough time prior to your appointed formation also deters you from making up an excuse for being late. A squad cannot function to its full potential if a soldier is late. It reflects onto your superiors and your unit presentation as a whole. Another reason why showing up at least thirty minutes prior is beneficial, is for you to be in a relaxed state of mind. You do not want to be waking up stressed because you were in a rush, it never reflects well on you and yet again, leaves too much space for error. Lastly, arriving thirty minutes prior is for you to make sure you are well equipped to be prepared for the day. Always arrive early so you will have moments to relax, plan your agenda, connect with peers, get informed and organized for daily tasks.
One of the most significant duties entrusted to an officer is the honor of leading airmen and being charged with the responsibility of their professional development. The people I lead must appreciate what I consider is important because, ultimately, this should also become important to them [Introduction, pg 189].

...d me with our staff and Soldiers we have been given the opportunity to lead. The time and effort spent will be well worth it. Possessing a shared understanding of the operational environment will aid in our planning process when conducting operations throughout our theater of operation. In every operation we execute we know that we will accept prudent risks, identification and mitigation of those risks will determine our ability to accomplish our mission. Incorporating the principles of mission command by building cohesive teams through mutual trust, fostering an environment of shared understanding, and accepting prudent risk will make me an effective adviser to the commander, aid the staff during the operations process, and provide an example for Soldiers to emulate. My involvement in all aspects of mission command is critical to the success of our organization.
On the same note, every day there is a civilian signing a piece of paper, joining the force, preparing to receive world class training and doctrinal lessons on how to be a good leader, as well as, a good subordinate. While on active duty, service members are subjected to continuous training opportunities and experiences. The Army promotion system is a rigorous platform system that requires certain benchmarks in their military education and time in service. These benchmarks ensure that the best available candidate moves forward and takes the sought after position, demanding the highest level of mental fortitude and discipline. These traits, along with others, are some of the ways the Army prepares vets for ensuing education. The Army has established training requirements that ensure soldiers are active in their decision making and critical thinking skills and are taking classes’ equivalent to that of a civilian. The longer a soldier is enlisted, the more training and formal education they will receive to assist in their departure from the military. The Structured Self Development (SSD) created by the Army has allowed many soldiers who were uneasy with or procrastinating continuing their education a chance to ease into it or see what it would be like in a distant learning situation. This training is necessary for promotion to certain echelons and is intended to emulate college level classes, but of the military genre. Currently, many schools accept military training as transferable credits through the Army American Council on Education Registry Transcript System (AARTS). The AARTS program allows a suggested transfer credit registry for military training, occupational skills, leadership courses, and other military specific training that directly correlates with civilian education (Wilson 57).
