Randall Saito managed to evade the security at the Hawaiian psychiatric hospital where he has been a patient for 36 years. It is believed he hopped in a cab once outside the hospital and then boarded a plane headed for California. Details on how Saito was able to escape from the facility are yet to be determined. Authorities say that their main task right now is tracking down this potentially very dangerous individual.
Saito was originally sentenced to life in the mental facility after her stabbed and shot an innocent woman. Allegedly, he randomly targeted her while she was out shopping. Her lifeless body was discovered in her vehicle and evidence leading to Saito was discovered. Instead of receiving life in prison for the crime, he plead guilty by reason of insanity and was sentenced to life in the psychiatric hospital. Though he has made several attempts over the years to appeal his sentence, authorities believe that he is still highly disturbed and dangerous.

They urge anyone who sees him to keep away and inform authorities instantly.
Investigators assigned to the case believe that Saito had been planning his escape for quite some time. They also think that he must have someone helping him get from one place to another with such ease. An investigation is underway at the hospital where he escaped to determine if someone on the inside was aiding him in any way. Police say that it will not be a surprise if they discover that a staff member helped him arrange his getaway.
Police all over California and the surrounding states are on high-alert for Randall Saito. No information is known yet about where he might be heading, so officials urge everyone on the western side of the U.S. to stay vigilant, but to act safely if they do catch sight of the
What’s more, the success rate of those cases is only about 26%. Insanity defense can be a possible escape to crime, but in order to state as true the defense of insanity or the insanity plea, the person who is being sued or was sued must declare that he/she is not responsible for his/her actions because of their mental health problem. That person must strongly express that he/she was not aware of the actions. Usually, the first thing that is done in a person’s insanity plea is that he /she needs to go through a thorough mental process. Psychologists or Psychiatrists can help the process on how to figure out the person’s actual state of mind during the crime. However, they are not in the position to decide whether the person is really insane. Only the jury can decide whether the statements in court or the findings support the criminal insanity defense. If the court finds the person is guilty for the possible crime but she or she was not mentally responsible during the time that the crime was committed, often, they will be sent to a psychiatric hospital or placed in a mental hospital for the criminally insane. Usually, punishment is not forever; it will only last until the person is no longer a threat to the people of the world. There are cases where they claim insanity only lasts a certain period of time. This kind of defense is very hard to prove. If the person declares that their

For nearly two years, a killer literally followed wheatfield America’s railroad tracks to slay unsuspecting victims before disappearing back into the pre-lit dawn. His modus operandi was always the same – he struck near the rail lines he illegally rode, then stowed away on the next freight train to come his way. Always ahead of the law.
He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but some thought he might actually be suffering from drug-induced toxic psychosis. He visited the emergency room for testimonials that bones were coming out the back of his head, someone stole his pulmonary arteries, his stomach was backwards, and his heart stopped beating sometimes. He was also diagnosed with hypochondria, where he believed his heart was in danger of shrinking until disappearance. He then came to the solution that drinking blood of animals or humans would stop the shrinking. He was also interviewed and said that he killed to stay alive. He was admitted to a mental institution and was prescribed antidepressants. He was allowed to leave anytime he wanted. He was left unsupervised and his mother told him that he did not need the
The punishment in the State of Texas for committing two capital crimes is life in jail or the death penalty. Andrea’s lawyer tried to show her innocence by protesting that she was insane at the time of the killings. This plea of insanity could have kept her from life in jail or the death penalty. Sure, she would have served a couple years in jail, but she would have been given the opportunity to come out on parole. Now, if this lady was insane like some believe, then how could she know she committed a crime and not know she was doing wrong when actually drowning the children? Mrs. Yates knew exactly that she hurt the innocent children and was awfully aware of what was going on. Mrs. Yates even called the police and her husband to inform them of what she had done. If the death penalty was on her mind while she was drowning the children, then she might have shown some moral awareness before drowning them instead of after they had died. I believe Andrea to be a sane woman, even though she was depressed or had postpartum depression.

Woodham had two trials, one for the murder of his mother and the other for the school shooting. During both trials Woodhams attorney attempted to show Woodham was insane during the killings, but both times the jury denied the insanity defence. In the trial for Woodham’s mother the jury found Woodham guilty and he was sentenced to life in prison. During his second case, the school shooting, Woodham faced two murder charges and seven attempted murder charges. For the attempted murder of seven people Woodham received seven twenty year sentences. For the murder of Christina and Lydia, Woodham was sentenced with two life

She was just a teenager, when she committed a murder, and now sentenced to life. Was it because of her mental illness, or was she totally in her right mind and is just a psychopath? Cheyenne Fink murdered an 80 year old man on December 3, 2012 in Mena Arkansas while out on a walk, also leaving him stabbed 30 times. Fink should be held accountable for her actions, and go to jail.

A horrific crime was committed in 2012 in Aurora, Colorado. A 27 year old man by the name of James Holmes walked into a movie theater and brutally shot at the crowd, killing 12 and wounding an astounding 70 people. Holmes had plenty of ammunition to continue his deranged killing spree but luckily his gun jammed and he surrendered and was arrested shortly after. James Holmes appeared in court and tried to justify his actions by saying he has a mental illness and brought forth witness saying he is a sweet and academically gifted child. In the end the jury and judge didn’t believe it, or just didn’t care, and found him guilty which landed him with 3,318 plus years, or one life sentence for every person he had killed. There was massive amounts
The state of New Mexico does have an insanity law so there is a possibility that he could be charged with insanity and put into a mental facility. He would have to take the Irresistible Impulse test. If he wasn’t in his right mind while doing these crimes than there is a chance he will be put in a facility but there’s a strong chance he’ll be put in prison. He didn’t second guess any of the murders and obviously felt no remorse. While murdering the Macduff’s he also murdered many others. Multiple people were left with a mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, etc.
On June 11, 1981, Issei Sagawa shot Renee Hartevelt in the back of the head. Across the span of two days he butchered her body, at portions of her flesh, and had sex with her corpse. He was arrested after attempting to dump the body in a nearby lake. Due to a mistranslation on his medical records, Sagawa was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial and was extradited back to Japan. The mistake was caught but Japan’s legal system was unable to pursue charges, Sagawa has been a free man ever since and has even become a sort of morbid celebrity. He’s written books, has done interviews, has written restaurant reviews for magazine, has had acting roles, and even took part in sadomasochistic pornography, all due to his odd sort of celebrity status.
