Name of serial killer: My serial killer is named Richard Chase. He was also known as the “Vampire of Sacramento” or the “Dracula Killer”. Biographical information: Richard Chase was born on May 23, 1950 in Sacramento, California. He died on December 26, 1980. He was born in Sacramento, California (unable to verify). Richard was born to an alcoholic, authoritarian father and a mentally-ill mother. His parents fought quite often and lost their home to financial issues. He was torturing animals, setting fires, and wetting the bed. He developed hypochondria at an unknown age. In adolescence, he had reportedly been exhibiting unusual behavior among his peers. He entered the home of Evelyn Miroth. She was babysitting her infant nephew, David, and her son, Jason. Also in the home was Dan Meredith who was watching the children while Evelyn took a bath. On his way inside, he shot and killed Dan and proceeded to steal his wallet and car keys. He then followed Jason under his mother’s bed to shoot and kill him as well. He also shot and killed David on his way to kill Jason. He then found Evelyn in the bathtub and shot her in the head. He drug her body onto a bed and raped the corpse while drinking blood from cuts he placed on her neck. He then ejaculated an unusual amount of times on her and then stabbed her anus several times. All of her blood was drained into a bucket and he drank all of it. A girl knocked on the door, supposedly on a play date with Jason, and startled Richard. He fled the scene in Dan’s car and left trails of shoe and hand prints to his home. He even took Dan’s body with him to consume later. Capture, arrest, and trial: The detectives were able to track Richard. He refused to reason with them, but they found an opportunistic approach to search him. He was discovered with Dan Meredith’s wallet. They searched his apartment and found his apartment caked in blood. In 1979, they arrested him and tried him in court for six counts of murder. He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but some thought he might actually be suffering from drug-induced toxic psychosis. He visited the emergency room for testimonials that bones were coming out the back of his head, someone stole his pulmonary arteries, his stomach was backwards, and his heart stopped beating sometimes. He was also diagnosed with hypochondria, where he believed his heart was in danger of shrinking until disappearance. He then came to the solution that drinking blood of animals or humans would stop the shrinking. He was also interviewed and said that he killed to stay alive. He was admitted to a mental institution and was prescribed antidepressants. He was allowed to leave anytime he wanted. He was left unsupervised and his mother told him that he did not need the
