An abundance of Katherines is a young adult novel written by John Green. Hereinafter referred to ‘Katherines’, which I consider a good book that worth to be turned into a movie. If you want a movie that has a simple plot but has profound meaning, lots of laughable moment, a pure romance between teenagers, then this is your choice. It has an interesting storyline, strong characters, and beautiful scenery that can be shown to the audience. People who like comedy would love this film. This story is full of fun and humour, that several of jokes you can’t even recognize for the first time you watch it. Colin’s last name is Singleton, which fits his experience that he has been dumped for nineteen times, and it also corresponds to the conversation …show more content…
he has with Katherine 19, that’s when you realize, uh, the name is a symbol. The squabbles between parents and their teenagers, sworn friends, so far as to strangers, also make people laugh.
It is so real that just like the conversation we would have in our lives, so for those who brought their diehard friends and parents would get a better viewing experience. Now let’s talk about the characters. When you watching a movie, the characters in the story is more important than your image. If the characters in setting were hollow, then it would not be able to move the audience. This is where Katherines does really well. The main character in the books are: Colin, Hassan and Lindsey. Let's start with, um, our protagonist, Colin. He is a prodigy, but sadly, dumped by nineteen girls all named Katherine. He hopes to find his ‘Eureka’ moment to be a genius (prodigy and genius are considered to be two different concepts) so he begin a road trip with his only friend Hassan. Colin is arguably one of the most complex character in the book. He never learned how to interact with people because his parent never treated him as a normal boy since he was young. He terrified his parent by reading paper when he is two years old. Then he trained nine hours a day due to his father wants him to be a genius. When he can’t make friend in school, what his dad teaches him is ‘be a genius so everyone would admire you’. He then dumped by nineteen times and he
thinks this happens because he wasn’t cool enough or good-looking enough or as smart as they’d hoped—in short, he didn’t matter enough. He so afraid he would lost someone he loved again. He wants to be matter so he force himself to do the things he don’t like to pleasure others. The only thing in the world that keeps him going, being a genius lapping up that recognition. And this is what’s conveyed Katherines so well, with many subtleties that you won't catch when you first read it. Now go back and read some episode again, there are many things that make sense. Whoa, Colin is really quick decided to live in Lindsey’s house, where they share the same facilities, living conditions and personal traumas and help both of them to familiarize with one another to understand that they have something in common basically, which makes two of them open up to each other and further develop their romance. Lindsey also suffered with her self identity, just like Colin. In reality, she experiences similar traumas to Colin when it comes to parental influence and loss. Her father leave her and her mother when she was young. She constantly seeking approval and recognition from the olds due to her mother devote herself in running the factory to support inhabitants Gutshot. She never truly know how her mother views her if nothing more than an inconvenience to her work, finding hard to fit in her schoolmates, considering this is owing to she is not cool enough. She becomes depressed at the sight of herself so she force to imitates what her peers do: dye her nails, dress after dress, and attend the outdoor activities with her friends. Lindsey is a nice girl, but like nice girl in the real world, she’s got messed up side. After series of things, she then realize she wastes time and has ignore the olds who always love her for a long time as she falls to her knees and starts to cry in assisted living facility. After she figure out the reason why her mother sells her secret place is for the inhabitants and her daughter to live a better life, she forgives her years of neglect and calls her mother ‘mom’ first time in the book rather than by name. These characters all having their own problem which is close to reality helping the imaginary world more believable. And most importantly, Gutshot, where the story takes place in Tennessee. Beautiful place to film the movie and audience can learn about local culture. I’m also interested how will the movie present the complex formula which Colin make to predict the future of any relationship. So that’s all I want to talk about this book, thanks for your listening. In fact, the right had been brought to make Katherines into a movie in 2007, but the project was then abundant. Hope the movie would come out one day.
Overall I think that the show was worth seeing, even though I let my parents pick the film--which I will never do again by the way-- I think that it was a good production. It was a little boring at first, which might have just been because I didn’t really want to see it in the first place, but the storyline was pretty good. I personally like humor, so I tend to pick shows that I know will have some humor, but I’m proud of myself for seeing something outside of my comfort zone.
Acting of movie is very basic for todays standards. The actions of the Miles Bennell aren’t believable or logical. At some points the women of the movie tend of over action simple scenes. The rest of the cast is monotone and have little emotion. It ok casting, but they could of done better. You find yourself laughing at serious point in the film due to the poor acting. This movie could be recut to become a comedy movie, just based off their facial expression.
The book and the movie were both very good. The book took time to explain things like setting, people’s emotions, people’s traits, and important background information. There was no time for these explanations the movie. The book, however, had parts in the beginning where some readers could become flustered.
I really enjoyed the movie Girls Like Us. I liked watching these girls grow up and change their whole lives around. It showed how the science of sociology is present in everyday lives and relationships and how conflicts can change a person for the better or the worst. What a learned most from this movie was how structural functionalism really does play a major part of how we grow up no matter what our ethnic backgrounds may be.
In conclusion, everyone who enjoys the magic of Broadway and the fantasy world of Hollywood must watch Chicago. Although it is at most difficult to translate a stage musical to an Award-winning film, the vision of director was carefully carried making Chicago a very enjoyable film for the whole family.
Imagine only dating an individual group of people. Only falling in love with a specific type of person. John Green portrayed this in his book, An Abundance of Katherines, published by the Penguin Group in 2006. This publication is a fictional novel directed towards young adults. John Green has also written Looking for Alaska, Will Grayson, Paper Towns, and The Fault in Our Stars. An Abundance of Katherines was a success because of the detailed descriptions, the superior writing style, and the suspenseful cliffhangers.
With the help of superb editing, sound, mise en scene, and cinematography, this film cannot be topped. The fist scene of the movie creates an atmosphere that helps the viewer know that he/she will enjoy this wonderful classic. Throughout the movie there are surprises and fun that makes this a movie that people will want to watch again and again. Gene Kelly said it best when he said, "Dignity, always dignity. " That is what this movie has from beginning to end, dignity.
Gangsters, violence, murder and corruption !!!!! If these are some of the things that you're into, then this is your kind of movie. Be ready to watch it more than once to be sure to get all the movie has to offer because it jumps from subject to subject and can be a little confusing.
With all things above considered, this an awesome movie definetly worth watching. Out of a 1-10 rating scale, one being the worst, and ten being the best, I give this a movie an 8. This was a movie that will get your heart pumping and leave you thirsting for more.
...r, this movie is lack of depth of storyline. The audiences can even predict what will happen in the next scenes. Moreover, the ending of this movie is too cheesy and irrational according to me. If only they change the ending to become more interesting and rational, I will give a four or five stars out of five. In spite of a lame twist ending, this movie is a perfect example to show that managers should be able to motivate and challenge their employee. It is important to remember that a happy employee means a productive employee.
The story opens in modern-day Chicago, where Colin is devastated after he has been broken up with for the nineteenth time. Colin is a child prodigy who has just graduated from high school and only dates girls named Katherine. Hassan, Colin’s best friend, comes into Colin’s room and starts to tell him how he should do something other than moping around all day. Little did Colin know Hassan's idea would change Colin's life forever.
I fell in love with ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ because of its honest and unsentimental feel. It was touching and brimming with energy. It fits so many genres, from romance all the way to comedy, so you will love this movie no matter what your type is. It really has great potential to become the next classic in its genre. If you’ve read this far take my advice and enjoy the next 102 minutes of your life. Trust me you won’t regret it!
I like the film very much. I think its one of the best films I’ve seen ever. The comedy in the film is just my humour, and the action was okay.
