In our daily lives we all make decisions. These decisions are influence by external factors. Our decisions made then have a consequence that follow. The consequence could be good or bad. Regardless if the outcome is positive or negative it occurs everywhere, even in stories. The short story "Rules of The Game" by Amy Tan has an epitome of decisions gone wrong. Meimei, the protagonist, studies chess and becomes an adroit player. She competes in competition and wins her trophy. Her mom approbation her and begins to brag of her to people in the streets. Meimei being with her when she does that does not like it and tells her not to do it. The reason that she told her mom this was for the reason that she was embarrass, "It's not that, it's just so obvious. It's just so embarrassing", that every time she was introduced to strangers by her mom it would be awkward for her (Tan 11). The embarrassing introduction to strangers is what led Meimei to tell her mom "I wish you wouldn't do that, telling everyone I'm your daughter" (Tan 11). The result of her decision led her to be eschew at night when she came back. When she came back from the alley she walked in and whisper from the mom stated "we not concerning this girl. This girl not have concerning for us" that her family will no longer care for her for the reasons that she does not care for them (Tan 13). It is shown by her mom by not making her any food, and the food for her to eat is the leftovers in bowl on a table. I know the results of her decision are harsh and cruel, but I agree with what her decision was. I do not support in kids rebelling against their parents, however parents should be responsible for their kids and know what is best for them. If she felt uncomfortable there is nothing wrong with her saying that she feels that way. Her mom should be meticulous in how her actions could affect her daughter.
