This is a short story about a senator who’s running for reelection and is diagnosed with an incurable illness and given less than a year to live. He has a family, a wife and five children, while all along he's keeping this secret away from them that he's dying. After the senator gave his speech, he took a walk around town to talk to the townspeople to make sure that they felt secure. Instead of telling anyone, he keeps his illness to himself and continues on with his campaign as if everything is okay. In the town of Rosal Del Virrey, he gives a speech and then walks through the town admitting small favors to people, persistently reminding them that this favor is a gift from the senator. With not well-controlled diabetes and acquiring an infected burn wound makes it harder for the patient to get treatment. Thus with the condition of the patient and her current social status, she is unable to afford the treatment and medications needed to alleviate her suffering. Her health conditions worsen and added more suffering to both health and expenditures. Talking about Language and Rhetorics, which in turn means using lanuage to communicate persuasively. Rhetorics date all the way back to the fifth Century in athens, Greece. There is 3 types of Rhetorics that are known. The First being Logos, which is the logic behind an argument. Logos tries to persuade an audience using logical arguments and supportive evidence. The next is Pathos, using Emotional Apeal in terms of persuading someone or an audience. Then there is Ethos, using moral competence to persuade the audience to trust in what they are saying is true.

During the 1950s, racism against African-Americans was a prevalent issue in the United States. Although all blacks were supposed to be free, under a corrupt law system, blacks were victimized mercilessly. Therefore, many civil rights activists emerged in order to fight for equal rights for the black community. The most notable activist was Dr Martin Luther King Jr. King engaged in various civil rights boycotts and protests. Out of all of his civil rights efforts, the most prominent was the “I Have a Dream” speech, given on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the “March on Washington” in 1963. The speech illustrated the issue of racism and provoke the audience to sympathise with the blacks while providing hope to the depressed African-American community.

Abraham Lincoln, known for his revolutionary campaign that was the first to state slavery was wrong. History portrays Abraham Lincoln as someone who wanted equal rights for all races that statement is not necessarily true. He wanted the slaves to be free but did not think that whites and blacks could live peacefully together. On November 10th, 1963 Malcolm X, later known as el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz, delivered his “Message to the Grass Roots” speech to the Northern Negro Grass Roots Leadership Conference held at the King Solomon Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. 1963 was a year of change, and a year of turmoil for African-Americans and the nation was in the midst of the (African-American) civil rights movement. In short terms, in the fight for the disbandment of racial discrimination worldwide, the king’s speech was used to shed a light at the end of a dark, long tunnel throughout American society. Racial discrimination has had a black eye on the forefront of American culture but with Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech, it helped heal the wound of a century of punishment in the African American community.
