“Too often in life, something happens and we blame other people for us not being happy or satisfied or fulfilled. So the point is, we all have choices, and we make the choice to accept people or situations or to not accept situations.(Brady)” People of this world tend to blame others for all their misfortunes and unhappiness. Although most of the time they wrongly assign this blame, there are some times when the blame can be put on others. One of these exceptions is with the classic love tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. In this story Romeo and Juliet died in a confusing mess of disaster events. The blame for their deaths can fall on others such as Lady and Lord Capulet, Tybalt and Friar Lawrence, but in the end most of the blame comes down to where …show more content…
the whole quarrel between the Montagues and the Capulets, Romeo and Juliet's ancestors. Two people that carry some blame for Romeo and Juliet’s is none other than Juliet’s parents, Lady and Lord Capulet. They are partially responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death for many reasons. One reason Lord Capulet is partly responsible is that he forced her to marry Paris. Hang thee, young baggage! disobedient wretch! I tell thee what - get thee to church o' Thursday Or never after look me in the face. Speak not, reply not, do not answer me. My fingers itch. Wife, we scarce thought us blest That God had lent us but this only child; But now I see this one is one too much, And that we have a curse in having her. Out on her, hilding! (3.5.160-168) This quote shows exactly how Lord Capulet treated Juliet. If he had not been so harsh to Juliet she might not have tried to fake her death to escape and be with Romeo. Juliet told Lord Capulet, her father, that she did not want to marry Paris. Instead of being understanding and helpful he scolded her and moved the date of the wedding up. When he moved the wedding up she was forced to do terrible things to make sure she ended up with Romeo instead of Paris. Lord Capulet was not the only parent that forced Juliet to do crazy things, Lady Capulet was also very neglectful. “Talk not to me, for I’ll not speak a word. / Do as thou wilt, for I have done with thee.(3.5.203-204)” This quote shows that Lady Capulet would not pay any attention to Juliet forcing her to pretend to be dead to get out of the marriage with Paris and to be with Romeo. Clearly, Lady and Lord Capulet are semi-responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s death. Another pair of people from Romeo and Juliet that played a part in their deaths, Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, were Friar Lawrence and Tybalt. These two played a big part in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. First, Tybalt contributed to the many reasons that Romeo and Juliet died so early on in life. One of Tybalt’s worst attributes was that he was a hothead. He got angry very easily and often. Tybalt wanted to kill Romeo just because he was a Montague. Romeo, the love I bear thee can afford No better term than this: thou art a villain. Tybalt, the reason that I have to love thee Doth much excuse the appertaining rage To such a greeting. Villain am I none. Therefore, farewell. I see thou know’st me not. Boy, this shall not excuse the injuries(3.1.56-63) Tybalt just wants to fight Romeo because he is a Montague. Romeo had never insulted Tybalt, he just had to come up with a better excuse than “you are a montague” to fight and kill Romeo. Romeo even wanted to be friends with Tybalt, he even stated that he thought they were friends. So by forcing Romeo to fight and kill him, and get him banished by Prince Escalus. After being banished Romeo had to sneak around to see Juliet and had to come up with a devious plan to run away with Juliet forever. Second, Friar Lawrence did many things wrong that led to the death of Romeo and Juliet. One thing that Lawrence did was marry Romeo and Juliet in the first place. But come, young waverer, come, go with me, In one respect I’ll thy assistant be, For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households' rancor to pure love.(2.3.91-94) If Friar Lawrence had never allowed them to get married then many of the problems created between Romeo and Juliet’s being together would have never come to pass.
Another thing that Friar did wrong was help Juliet get out of her marriage with Paris. The event that caused the most harm to Romeo and Juliet that Friar Lawrence was responsible for was not making sure that Romeo knew Juliet was not really dead. He gave a letter to Friar John and put all his trust in him that he would deliver it to Romeo. Friar Lawrence should have taken the letter straight to Romeo and hand delivered it to him. He could tell him briefly about, but leave quickly before anyone heard in on their plan. Obviously Tybalt and Friar Lawrence had major impacts on the outcome ending with Romeo and Juliet’s …show more content…
death. The final, not two but, many people to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are their ancestors.
Long before Romeo and Juliet were born there were two equally noble families, the Montagues and the Capulets. For whatever reason they had a rivalry that lasted many, many years, all the way to the times of Romeo and Juliet. When Juliet was about thirteen years of age the feud between the families had flared up. “From ancient grudge, break to new mutiny, / Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean:(Prologue.1-14)” The feud between the families are responsible for every single other person to blame. While in their situation they didn’t take the correct course of action, it ultimately comes down to the fact that the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets started all their problems. In Lady and Lord Capulet's case, without the feud between the families, Juliet would not have had to kept her love for Romeo a secret in the first place, making it so they never set up her marriage with Paris. With Tybalt, his only reason for wanting to kill Romeo, causing Romeo to kill him and get banished, was because he was a Montague. Finally for Friar Lawrence, the absolute only reason he was involved in any of this was because he married them to try and mend the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. “For this alliance may so happy prove / To turn your households' rancor to pure love.(2.3.93-94)” Without a doubt, the conflict between the Montagues and the Capulets, which Romeo and
Juliet's ancestors started, caused all of these events to take place and without them then Romeo and Juliet could have lived happily ever after. After thoroughly reading and analyzing Romeo and Juliet it is clear that most of the blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death still falls to themselves. There are however other people that pushed them to do whatever they found necessary to be together and some of what they found necessary, eventually led to their death. In the end what ultimately led to Romeo and Juliet’s death was their own ancestors starting the war that made being together so hard for them, but also the resentment and forcefulness of Lady and Lord Capulet, as well as the poor planning and poor execution of that plan by Friar Lawrence and the hot headedness of Tybalt.
Why is it that we as human beings feel the need to blame someone for every negative situation, which occurs? If we really look at the situation with any great depth, we may discover that an almost endless amount of things may be 'blamed' for the tragedy; blaming an individual is pointless - only fate can really be blamed. & nbsp; Some characters who are more commonly blamed are Romeo and Juliet themselves. With their headstrong personalities, and love, which seemed so sure, they had in fact condemned themselves. Romeo was the first to promote the relationship at the Capulet party. It was a case of 'love-at-first-sight' for him, so he felt obligated to seek Juliet on her balcony, and charm the engagement into existence.
Shakespeare's play of “Romeo and Juliet” is well known, and leaves the audience asking: Who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? Most of the play’s characters closely related to Romeo and Juliet carry some responsibility, but there are three characters or groups who had the greatest influence on the story’s outcome. Friar Laurence could be blamed for marrying them and keeping it secret. Juliet’s nurse encouraged Romeo’s pursuit of Juliet, even helping Juliet sneak out to marry. Last and most deserving of blame, however, are the parents, Lord and Lady Capulet and Lord and Lady Montague. If not for the family feud and hatred, Romeo and Juliet would’ve lived, not tasting the bittersweetness of death.
Who is the most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet? There are many opinions on who is to blame for the deaths of these "star crossed lovers." One of these opinions is that both Romeo and Juliet are equally to blame for their own deaths. Romeo nor Juliet knew how to resolve their own problems and went directly to Friar Lawrence. Whenever Romeo and Juliet failed to resolve their problem, their resolution was suicide. Romeo and Juliet also withheld the love affair between them, from their families.
Throughout time, there have been many tragedies caused by romance. For example, the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, is known for its romantic tragedy between two star-crossed lovers. With all the deaths, who is truly to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths? Friar Laurence is most to blame for many obvious, yet overlooked, reasons. The forbidden wedding of Romeo and Juliet could not have happened without the Friar.
In the story “ The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet “ the main characters get themselves in a pickle by falling in love knowing that their families are sworn enemies. Soon Romeo kills Juliet's cousin by accident, Juliet drinks a potion, some words get twisted and at the end both of the lovebirds end up dead. At the end of the story both families are devastated that both of their children pass away, but there are also many unanswered questions. The most asked question in the story is “ Who's to blame? ” and overall I believe everyone has a little part in influencing their death, but I believe that one person is to blame for most of this and I believe that it is the mother and father of Juliet.
Friar Lawrence should be blamed for the Tradegy of Romeo and Juliet because he acted to quickly. The Friar arranges for Romeo and Juliet to be married in secret, without thinking of the consequences of his actions. For instance, Friar hurriedly says ““…come, come with me, and we will make short work.””(2:4:101) Not only does Friar Lawrence marry Romeo and Juliet but he rushes their marriage. Although earlier he wisely states “wisely and slow. They stumble that run fast.” (2:3:101) Friar tells Romeo that slower is wiser, yet he rushes their wedding. Furthermore, the Friar is hiding Romeo after he has ki...
Finally, the friar gives the letter about "the fake death plan" to Friar John when he should have delivered it himself. Despite any other "at fault" characters in Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence is the most responsible for the tragic events that occur in the play because of his miscommunication, dishonesty and poor decision making. Beginning with Friar Lawrence's first mistake, he marries Romeo and Juliet not knowing that it would create a controversy. When Friar Lawrence marries Romeo and Juliet, no one knows and there is no parental consent. By not telling anyone, Romeo and Juliet are put in danger because of this secret.
“Don’t waste your love on someone who doesn’t value it.” In the play Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare exposes the life of two young lovers in the Renaissance period fighting for something they cannot live without; each other. Although fate takes its toll, the everlasting feud between two families, conditional love by parents, and the irresponsibility’s of father and mother like figure are the main causes in the death of Romeo and Juliet. The idea of love is something that is valued in this play from many different aspects of characters, lines, and scenes. Shakespeare leaves the minds of readers soaring over not why it happened, but who was at fault.
In William Shakespeare’s play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ the main characters are responsible for their own deaths because they refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions. Romeo acts irresponsibly throughout the play making inappropriate decisions. Juliet is persuaded out of her apprehensions by Romeo and is blinded by her unrealistic love for Romeo. However, the two lovers cannot be blamed entirely for their own deaths as other characters and the two lovers’ feuding families hold responsibility.
Had Friar Lawrence not been involved with Romeos and Juliet's decisions, the story may not have had a tragic ending. In William Shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Friar Lawrence should be blamed for the death of the two main characters. The first mistake Friar Lawrence makes, is secretly marrying the two lovers without the parents consent right after Romeo had just loved his "perfect" Rosaline. Then, he agrees, to the Capulet’s, to marry Paris and Juliet. Lastly, the worst mistake was giving Juliet the sleeping potion.
First of all, The Montague’s and Capulet’s hatred for one another shows another depth about how human errors create the setting of Romeo and Juliet’s death. If only both families had gotten along from the beginning, the two star-crossed lovers could have had a friendship from the very start. If the families were close when they were young, they could have grown up to realize that the two were in love. Juliet would have been able to tell her parents, and that way, they would have been ecstatic about the engagement. The reason this is their fault is because if they had been on civil terms with each other, the deaths wouldn’t have occurred. Shakespeare almost made it appear like the parents did it on purpose for them to have to go behind their backs. Romeo and Tybalt’s battle to the death was also fault of the families disliking each other, and if this conflict had not taken place, the wedding wouldn’t have been forced upon Juliet. In this case, she ...

Juliet's father is forcing her to marry Paris, this is one of the major reasons why Juliet and Romeo give up their lives to be
Throughout the whole play the Capulet's and the Montague's have a distinct hatred for each other. This hatred only causes Romeo and Juliet to lie to their parents about their love. When Juliet finds out Romeo is a Montague, she is devastated. Even though their families are enemies, this doesn’t stop them from getting married. Friar Lawrence marries them believing this will end the feud between the two families, “In one respect I'll thy assistant be: For this alliance may so prove to turn your household's rancour to pure love.”
Romeo and Juliet Essay Every action we take, decision we make, and person we fall in love with always leads us to our inevitable destiny. Some people are meant to live happily ever after, while others may not be so lucky. Romeo and Juliet ended up being one of those not-so-lucky couples. Born as enemies, their love ended up pulling them closer to their destiny, which was proven to be death.
The Montague and The Capulet family have what seems to be an everlasting feud. Romeo and Juliet met without any knowledge beforehand that they came from their very own family’s enemy. Juliet expressed this when she found out that Romeo was a Montague “My only love sprung from my only hate!” (Shakespeare I.vi.137). Meaning that she has never been in love until this point but coincidentally as soon as she finds a lover, he comes from the only family that has a conflict with her own.
