The play, “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare had ended in a tragedy that was presented in such a way that it had shocked the audience. In summary, Romeo and Juliet, the Star cross 'd lovers, were heavily impacted by their long history family feud. The family feud then lead to Romeo and Juliet and other important characters in the play to keep secrets from each other. Thus, creating multiple problems in the play that resulted in Romeo and Juliet 's death. In the end, Romeo and Juliet were not the only people to cause their misfortune, but fate along with many characters in the play. The people that truly consider to have the greatest effect in this tragic ending were the two families involved in the feud, Capulet and Montague, Friar Lawrence, First of all, Romeo and Juliet are both deeply in love with each other. With this in mind, Romeo and Juliet began to develop their personal hamartias that remained evident until the finale. One of them being Romeo 's sudden rashness. For example, Romeo quickly insisted on marrying Juliet. During act 2, scene 2, Romeo wanted to ask Juliet to get married with him, however, she disagreed because they just met. Later on, Romeo says, “th ' exchange of thy love 's faithful vow for mine" (II,ii,127). This simply shows Romeo 's rashness because he wants to rush the marriage even though he isn 't ready and his rashness soon influenced Juliet as well. Furthermore, another hamartia displayed in the play was his impetuous decisions. His lack of forethought explains how it affected the misfortunate causes in the play. For instance, during the fight between Mercutio and Tybalt, Romeo had tried to stop the fight saying, " courage, man, the hurt cannot be much." (III,i,91), which sadly lead to Mercutio 's fatal death. Likewise, if Romeo weren 't there to stop the fight, possibly Mercutio could have won and could have avoided the misfortunate events of Romeo getting banished from Verona. On the other hand, Juliet 's hamartia was that she became too loyal to Romeo which had affected the misfortune of their appending death. For example, Juliet was loyal to Romeo abandoned the marriage with Paris by taking the In the play, Friar Lawrence was at fault for secretly marrying off Romeo and Juliet because he knew the feud between their two families wasn 't going to end unless he were to marry off the couple. However, as Juliet apologized to her father on Tuesday, he was delighted to hear her apology and rearranged the marriage on Wednesday afternoon. The secret marriage does not help the feud at all it just results in the Friar having to make some risky decisions about the fate of Romeo and Juliet. His plan for Juliet to take the poison and the letters to be sent to Romeo ends up being fatal. If the Friar had not given Juliet the potion then Romeo would never had come back to Verona to kill himself.

Friar Lawrence also came up with a risky solution to get Romeo and Juliet together for the rest of their lives without anyone knowing. He schemes and has the characters believe it is out of his love for Romeo and Juliet; as in their eyes, he is a fatherly figure. He is an older man who should be out to help the citizenry of Verona, but being egotistical, he uses Romeo and Juliet for his personal desires to end the feud between the families. Him being egocentric has the Friar make rash decisions in situations that he had not planned for. When the Capulets and the Montagues come together after the death of their children, Friar Lawrence says, “Her nurse is privy; and if aught in this/ Miscarried by my fault, let my old life/ Be sacrificed some hour before his time/ Unto the rigor of severest law.” (V.iii.266-269). The Friar explains Romeo and Juliet’s love story and the reasoning behind their secret marriage and why he went through with marrying the star-crossed lovers. He does not say that his rashness is to be blamed for their children’s death, but turns to the Nurse’s knowledge of the secret marriage.
