In William Shakespeare's “Romeo And Juliet” Romeo is the main character. He is Montague's son. Which means he is the son of his loves enemy, the Capulets. Romeo is very depressed, he is very negative, impulsive, anxious, emotional, and he is a rebel. Romeo is stupid if he would have taken it slow and not rushed things with Juliet they might still be alive. Due to Romeo and Juliet's mad love for eachother, and their families hatred towards each other they died. In act 1, scene 1 we see Romeo is very negative when he tells Benvolio “Thou canst not teach me to forget”(230). This is Romeo saying he will never forget about Rosaline. Romeo is asking Friar Laurence to marry him and Juliet, when they met just hours ago. The quote makes Romeo seem very impulsive because they just met hours ago and he's already asking Juliet to marry him. Don't you think you ought to let there be at least more than one day before you marry someone, well in this case Romeo and Juliet don't think so. I chose this quote Mainly because Romeo says that he is in love with the daughter of Capulet which is Juliet. Of course that's what makes Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet. If Romeo wasn't Montague's only son, and Juliet Capulet’s only daughter there would be no point in Romeo and Juliet. You can't find love in two hours, so this shows me that they're looking just for looks. Basically Romeo shallow, he thinks he's in love just by looks. Don't get me wrong sometimes people find your soulmate like that, but it is very unlikely. I know the whole love-at-first-sight but that's nonsense, you may think so but people are not always what they seem to be. Behind every person there is a monster (2.3.57-58). In act 1, scene 1 Romeo is very in touch with his emotions, “Tut! I have lost myself; I am not here: this is not Romeo, he's some other where” this quote actually makes you think what is Romeo talking. I believe he is saying he's so sad that he is not himself, he's not in the right mindset. Only a person that is truly in touch with their emotions would know this. Then again two hours later he's in love with some other woman. That kind of shows you he is in touch with his emotions but not fully. His mind is telling him something but his heart to telling
