The Deaths of Romeo and Juliet
Was it just one person’s fault, or a mixture? In this essay, I will
include many different reasons as to why Romeo and Juliet die. I will
explain in detail each point and put forward my own opinions. I will
use quotes to back up each point and explain why the historical
context is relevant. At the end, I will conclude with whom or what I
think is the most important reason that contributes to the blame of
their deaths.
I will begin with different people who could be to blame. There are
many possible people, so I shall start with the Nurse. In one
respect, the Nurse is very good at her job, but in another, she is
not. The Nurse loves Juliet very much, but abandons her
responsibility of looking after her when she allows her to become
involved with Romeo. Anyone can see that the relationship is going to
cause trouble. The Nurse then furthers her involvement in matters by
helping to arrange the wedding between Romeo and Juliet. In her
defence, you could say that she did not have much choice in the
matter, as Juliet was in control, “I am the drudge and toil in your
delight”. This shows that the Nurse is following orders from Juliet,
because she thinks it will make Juliet happy. Although she does, she
does not seem to be bothered about the damage she could cause in the
future. This is one reason why the Nurse could be to blame for the
deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
Another point in the play where the Nurse contributes to the deaths of
Romeo and Juliet is when the proposal of Paris comes along. At this
stage in the play, Romeo has been banished. The Nurse disregards
Juliet’s feelings for Romeo and takes the easy option, telling her to
marry Paris, “I think you are happy in this second match, for it
excels your first”. Juliet despises the Nurse for saying this.
Nurse has betrayed Juliet, she and Friar Lawrence were the two who knew and believed in Romeo and Juliet's love, and Nurse abandons Juliet in a way in this scene, telling her to marry Paris, and forget Romeo. I think that when she is saying this that she is thinking of herself, and of what she could lose if they were discovered, but at the same time she was thinking of Juliet's well-being, and that she would be safe in Verona, with Paris: "I think that you are happy in this second match, For it excels your first; or, if it did not, Your first is dead, or 'twere as good he were As living here and you no use of him. " Lady Capulet shows a very different love for her daughter to the love which Nurse shows her, she has hardly looked after Juliet for much of her life, and is distanced from her. She will usually do what she believes is right or what Juliet wants, like secretly meeting with Romeo and arranging the wedding of Romeo and Juliet. Throughout the play, the relationship between Juliet and The Nurse always shows. The Nurse has a playful as well as caring relationship with Juliet.
The Deaths of Romeo and Juliet in William Shakespeare's Play Romeo and Juliet was written in 1595 for an Elizabethan audience. It was set in Verona and Mantua in Italy. People of Shakespeare's time thought of Italy as immoral and famous for it sexual affairs and crime. The audience would have expected Romeo and Juliet to include affairs and violence but would still react shocked to the actions going on in the play, as even though it would be normal, because of the notorious rumours of Italy, the audience would be used to have a happy ending. When fate and inevitability are present in a storyline the audience feels pity for the characters and fear for what is going to happen.

The story is about a young boy and a young girl who are in love with each other but both of their lives end in tragedy. Then Romeo soon meets Juliet and they become a thing. The new couple are wed secretly and only the friar and Juliet's nurse knew. Then after Romeo kill tybalt and is forced to

The Nurse aides Romeo by telling him a way to Juliet’s room showing her approval of the relationship. She did not provide any form of counsel to Juliet or inform Capulet or Lady Capulet about Juliet’s relationship. Due to the fact that the Nurse does not do her job and doesn’t tell Juliet to end her relationship with Romeo, it caused this ill-fated relationship to continue. To add to the issue, the Nurse later betrays Juliet when Juliet begs her for help. “I think you are happy in this second match, For it excels your first, or, if it did not, Your first is dead, or 'twere as good he were, As living here and you no use of him.” (3.5.226-238). The Nurse goes against her previous actions and expects Juliet to forget about Romeo by dispraising him. Juliet wants to remain faithful to her husband and this betrayal along with Capulet’s ultimatum causes Juliet to act hastily and want to die if she wasn’t with

The play is about a boy, Romeo, and a girl, Juliet, from two rival families that fall in love. The two families, the Montagues and Capulets, have been fighting for a long time and it affects the entire city of Verona, where they live. It is debated whether or not the deaths of the star-crossed lovers could be blamed on numerous people. The tragedy of their deaths was the faults of multiple characters and could have been prevented.
The Nurse was also responsible for the tragic ending of the play. When Romeo and Juliet met, the Nurse became their messenger. She helped them be together even though she knew Romeo was a Montague and that Juliet's family would disapprove. The Nurse brought news to Juliet from Romeo telling her to sneak out so they could get married. She helped Juliet get out of her house by bringing her a rope ladder to climb off her balcony with and telling her parents that she went to shrift. The Nurse kept Romeo and Juliet's marriage a secret from the families. When Juliet's parents said she should marry Paris, the Nurse agreed and said that Juliet should forget about Romeo because he was in Mantua. With the Nurse no longer on her side she had no one to help her and back her up but the Friar. In this way she had a large impact on the terrible ending of Romeo and Juliet.
William Shakespeare treats death in Romeo and Juliet different for each set of characters. Some character deaths was because a familial issue, other were for legal issues. Romeo and Juliet's death was a familial issue, Mercutio’s death was a personal issue and Tybalt's death was a legal issue.
