Edwards shrine really showed what he was thinking but that he could never explain. Edwards shrine consists of many modern house designs, nature images, and lots of body pictures. He has many house representations and images because his end goal is to have a nice house. When Edward walked into Peg’s house he had a look of admiration and happiness. The pictures in his shrine show some hopes for his house and what he would want it to look like in the future. When the professor was alive his house was clean and looked lively but since he died, Edward could not keep up the cleanliness. Edward has lots of nature pictures and ideas. He has pictures of nature because that’s a factor he can control on his lawn and keep it looking nice. The only way
In Duncannon Pa at the top of Cemetery Road is the Duncannon Presbyterian Cemetery. The road narrows and bends in between large sections of green lawn filled with gravestones. Follow the most outside road around the cemetery towards the older side where the stones begin to fade, slow down for the sharp bend and at the far corner you'll find where the first log church that was built in Duncannon stood. The one that is standing there now is not that church, but a replica, built to look exactly like the original.
Edwards gets caught and every friend of his from the neighborhood turns on him. Edward Scissorhands has an overall mood of self-discovery for most of the characters. In the film, Burton uses close-up shots in order to convey an unusual tone towards Peg’s curiosity. For example, when Peg goes to Edward’s house, she continues to walk into the house after seeing topiary in the garden. This achieves divergent tone because Peg being comfortable to walk into a dark home for a customer which contributes to the overall mood of self-discovery, because we discover what kind of person Peg is.
Tim Burton also uses great Lighting to make Edward look like shouldn't be there, for example, it shows Edward cramped into a small car and with bright colors in the background. In the scene where they enter Edwards garden it seem so beautiful up close, but like hell far away because its very dark over there, then when it enters back into the house it seems like it would be from a horror movie. And the make up on his face makes it more fit with the lighting because of the scars with his pale white face and his crazy black hair.
The costuming in Edward Scissorhands was very thought out and was used to develop the characters, as well as the story. For example, the townspeople who took in Edward seemed to be regular people in a regular town. The people wore bright colored clothing with colorful accesories as well. The women wore bright clothing, either dresses or a pair of leggings, with bright makeup as well. The men wore casual work clothes, and all of this gives of a normal vibe to the town as if nothing out of the ordinary happens in it. Another example of the clothing in the film is when Peg (Avon lady) sees Edward for the first time. This moment can make the audience start to compare the moods that both characters give off. Edward lived in a dark, gloomy place
After the trip, Ed returns home to his wife, to civilization. However, he is now unaffected by the feminist influences that plagued him before, he is a man and understands his place in the world. The trip pushed his limits, forcing him to overcome the emasculation granted him by society, as when he fought the gun from the would-be rapist’s hand or when he killed the other mountain man with nothing to rely on but himself. He has reclaimed his manhood, his “true, whole self” as Entzminger would say, and may return to civilization the better for it.
In the short story, Cathedral, by Raymond Carver, the author uses imagery, symbolism and narrates the story in first person point of view. The Cathedral’s main theme is being able to identify the difference between being able to look and/or see and it is portrayed through the main characters role in the story. Carver uses a unique style of writing which gives the short story a simple way for the reader to understand the story’s theme.
It was from the obituaries that Eddie would learn of the recent deaths of local women. Having never enjoyed the company of the opposite sex, he would quench his lust by visiting graves at night. Although he later swore to police that he never had sexual intercourse with any of the bodies ( they smelled to bad), he did take a particular pleasure in peeling their skin from their bodies and wearing it. He was curious to know what it was like to have breasts and a vagina, and he often dreamed of being a women. He was fascinated with women because the power and hold they had on men. The people of Plainfield, considered Ed Gein a gentle man who everybody trusted. Ed had a very strict childhood. His father died when he was very young. His mother then decided that she would raise her children and not marry or be involved in any relationship. Mrs. Gein told Ed and his brother Henry that all women were bad and that sex would lead to heart breaks and diseases. Later in life, Ed confessed he felt his mother was good in every manner (deranged, wierd, sick, http.//www.deranged.com). Authorities suspected he had a sexual relationship with his mother. Within a matter of time Ed's mother and brother had died, leaving Ed desolate on a farm which didn't even have electricity. Ed worked odd jobs like a handyman and baby-sitting. In his free time, Ed conducted psychotic experiments. Fascinated with the female body, Ed often indulged himself in anatomical textbooks. To actually see and feel for himself, he went to the graveyard and exhumed several bodies, including his mothers'. He found pleasure in handling dead women's sex organs. Even worse, he skinned the corpses and dissected the bodies. The inventory inside his home consisted of heads, hearts, livers, intestines, and skin scattered about. At night he would take off all of his clothes, put on his mothers skin, and dance around the house. Seeking yet more sexual gratification Ed made furniture and musical instruments from body parts. Some of these items included lampshades, tom toms, and bracelets. Gein then moved on to killing other people. Even though he only killed two women (Mary Hogan and Bernice Wordan), Ed was still considered a serial killer. After killing Bernice Wordan, the evidence left behind lead to Ed Gein. When the authorities arrived they were welcomed by an assortment of human artifacts. Shrunken heads, drinking glass skulls, and skin furniture. Ed didn't realize that what he had done was wrong so he invited the police in for coffee.

In this primary source Friar John is sent by the Pope to Batu Khan's camp to understand the Mongol intentions. This is similar to the account that Ibn Fadlan gave about the Viking's lifestyle, but about an election. They arrived to the election of the Khan and waited for their response. In the time they were waiting he describes how they erected a white pavilion with a wooden palisade. The first few days they wore different colored velvets for the event. The emporer and the chiefs met in one of the tents for the election. The election brought envoys from Russia, Gerogia, the Caliph of Baghdad, and Sultans from the Saracens. When they finally saw the emperor they talk about his wealth he has recieved. "So many gifts were bestowed by the nevoys there that it was marvellous to behold- gifts of silk, samite, velvet, brocade, girdles of silk threaded with gold, choice furs, and other presents (428)." The emperor tried to keep the monks ignorant of his intentions to fight the western world after the celebrations. A month later they were able to write their questions down and get the reply that had to be translated and checked. Friar John and the Christians under the emperor believed that he would convert to Christianity because of the clerics, the supplies given
Louis Comfort Tiffany is one of America’s most acclaimed artists that began his career as a painter working under the influence of George Inness and Samuel Colman. In the film Edward Scissorhands, it shows how ugly the world can be. Society separate people by their race, wealth, and even abilities. Society looks down upon those who are different and disrespect them greatly. The audience disagrees with this greatly as people should be supporting, loving and caring. In this film we see that nobody can create a person, only God. Edwards creator
This may also explain my expectations of Faneuil Hall, picturing how my friends had described it to me. As Waker Percy would say “the privileged knower” , “ the preformed complex”.
Marble have been used in some of the historic instances in ancient times. Rome’s Pantheon, Athens’ Parthenon, London’s Marble Arch, Michelangelo’s masterpiece ''David'' and Agra's Taj Mahal are popular examples of it.
