Are Cats Better Pets Than Dogs? Everyone has that one question. the question that makes everyone fight for their opinion. Are cats really better pets than dogs? With about 74- 96 million cat and 70-80 million dogs being owned in the U.S, there is a disagreement on which animal is actually the better pet. Most are opinions but what about the real facts? Cats are more of a companion because they can endure less care, easy to clean up after, and are less cost effective than dogs. First, cats don't need a whole bunch of care. They need a good litter box, and litter. Depending on how big your cat is, you should get a litter box that has enough room for your cat to go wherever they

When they feel dirty they clean themselves with their tongue. Their tongue feels like sandpaper for a reason. Most cats do not like water, or taking a bath, so they use their tongue like a hair brush to get rid of all their dead skin, dirt, and fur.(why) They are not as messy as dogs. They don't get into the trash or tear up the certains. They just sleep, eat and play. Have you ever noticed that when a dog drinks water its all slobbery and gets all over the floor? Cats on the other hand have special bumps on their tongue to get water. They slightly dip their tongue in the water and it soak up 2 times the amount that dogs get. Cats don’t slobber and the water doesn’t get all over the floor. (Why) Cats are also cleaner because they bury their poop or pee, unlike dogs who leave it for us to step …show more content…
Getting shots for cats are cheaper than getting shots for dogs. The average cost for cats to get all of their shots is about $45 to about $90 their first year.(how) To get a cat its shots for years after is about $10 to $40. Dogs on the other hand cost about $20 to $150 their first year and $10 to $100 the years after. (How) Sure you have to buy cat litter and dogs don’t need litter, but what if you train the dog to go inside on a doggy matt. You have to pay for those too, and they are more expensive than cat litter. Also if you want to walk your dog you would need a leash. Cats don't need leashes. Your have to train your dog. You can't just go to the store and buy a perfect dog, you have to train it. Same with cats. Dogs can survive on their own if they have all the stuff they need to survive. Dogs are not as messy as you think. They can tear up stuff if you leave it out. Cats can bring in dead animals like mice and birds. Cats also have to be bought a cat box, a leash because more cats are dying at a young age because of their
One of the many factors that pet owners look into is space. How much room will the dog, or cat have to play, sleep, and even eat? Many people think that, because they have a small dog, that they do not need a lot of room, yes, this maybe true, but they need to take the energy of the dog into consideration. Cats on the other hand can live in tight spaces, whether they have tons of energy or not. Both animals depending on the size and breed need the space that can accommodate for these aspects.
According to the article “Pet Statistics” by the ASPCA estimates there are 70-80 million dogs and 74-96 million cats owned in the United States. It is impossible to determine the number of stray dogs and cats, but the ASPCA estimates there are 70 million cats alone that are strays in the US (“Pet Statistics”). The overpopulation of dogs and cats live either on the streets and die each day, they live in a shelter and try to get adopted, but even then they die. The ASPCA states that nationwide about 7.6 million companion animals enter the shelter and of the 7.6 million approximately 3.9 million are dogs and 3.4 million are cats (“Pet Statistics”).
Most people like dogs more than cats. I like dogs more than cats. More than half a million people in America like dogs as pets more than cats.

Dogs are extremely lovable and the only thing in life that they want is to be loved by their owners. With dogs, everything in life revolves around love and affection. The only thing that is on a cats mind is food and what they
When you talk to pet owners about owning a cat versus a dog, it stirs up much controver-sy in many ways. By looking at both cats and dogs, the cat outweighs the dog in many ways, which makes the cat the superior selection when making a final decision on which one to get. Cats have very desirable qualities that make them an award winning choice to many owners. The qualities that appeal to most are the ability of the cat to live in small spaces, they do not eat large amounts of food for their meals, and they are very sedentary and independent in nature making them a low maintenance pet. One additional desired feature is cats are well suited for owners that have a very busy lifestyle and minimal time to give to their pet. This added feature
By that their paws are a subject to injuries. Besides that dirt can regularly acumulate under the claws, which the cats cant clean on their own. For those reasons we must regularly check out cats' paws and clean them off by a damp cloth if we notice any dried up dirt. If we notice any thorns, cuts or swelling we have to clean the paws, remove the thorns and don't let the cat outside for a while. And tiny infected wounds can develop into a much bigger problem.
Felines have soft fur and each cat, individually has a different personality, a great addition to
Over 71 million American households (62%) have a pet, and most people think of their pets as members of the family. Some research studies have found that people who have a pet have healthier hearts, stay home sick less often, make fewer visits to the doctor, get more exercise, and are less depressed. Pets may also have a significant impact on allergies, asthma, social support, and social interactions with other people (Casciotti) .

We all are busy people who are out of the house most of the day. We need a companion to help us ease the stress from daily life. For example, if you are purr-catinating on essays or preparing for speeches late at night, you at least have a companion by your side. A great companion is the cat, you get to pet a fluffy thing and get free scratches. Why cats? Well, cats are purr-ty interesting creatures. According to Discovery News, in 1960s, the CIA tried to turn a cat into a spy, but un-fur-tunately, they failed when the cat was ran over by a cab. Another interesting fact according to Buzzfeed is female cats are typically right-pawed while male cats are typically left-pawed. There is also a cat island named Tashirojima that are terrorized by stray cats in Japan. The main problem is there are too many cats in the shelters that need a home, according to ASPCA, approximately 3.4 million cats enter the shelters every year. Well the solution to this is you can adopt a cat. There are a few things you need to do before adopting a cat.
Both dogs and cats are good for companionship, because they are both very sweet, loveable. However dogs have a much more need for attention, dogs constantly want to be played with, and sometime aggravate their owner until they get what they want. On the other hand, cats pretty much like to stay to themselves. Some cats may stay away during the day time and only come out at night. Dogs sleep pretty much at night while some cats are up all night.
Are there enough litter boxes for the amount of cats you have? For example, if you have two cats in your home, and you should have at least one litter box per cat. Cats like to have their privacy, and this is particularly true when it comes to their litter boxes. In fact, most veterinarians recommend that even if you have just one cat, you should have at least two litter boxes for
Two Ways of Viewing Cats and Dogs Cats and dogs share several similarities, but they are very different. These two animals are two of the most popular pets today. Apart from that, owning a pet forces one to take on the responsibility of keeping it alive. One’s pet must be fed, watered, and kept healthy. Doing this requires us to move about.
