I am currently doing my internship at Cradles to Crayons, I started my internship on September 5th and the internship that I am doing is called partner relations. First day, I meant with my supervisor and another student that is interning at Cradles to Crayons. Second, I had to read the agency handbook and sign some papers. Then I was trained by another intern that is currently working there. I watched and learned about the different things that I will be completing doing my time at Cradles to Crayons. I had to get all the packages (kid packs) for the case managers that arrived on Tuesday because Tuesday is pick up day. I help the case managers with their orders. I also did a lot of labeling of products that go out to the children, and a lot
The Devil’s Arithmetic is written by Jane Yolen. The story’s main character is Hannah. Hannah is a thirteen year old girl who is unappreciative of her family and everything they do for her. During a Seder dinner, Hannah is transported back in time to rural Poland in 1942. In this time Hannah becomes Chaya. During a wedding procession, she is captured and taken to a concentration camp. In the camp Hannah experienced different kinds of family structures. Some of the family structures Hannah experienced in the camp were with her immediate family, her friendships, and with other strangers.
The Girl with the Brown Crayon tells a simple personal story of a teacher and a child, interweaving the themes of race, identity, gender, and the essential human needs to create, and to belong. With these characteristic charms, and wonder, Paley discovers how the unexplored territory unfolding before her and Reeny comes to mark the very essence of school, a common core of reference, something to ponder deeply and expand on extravagantly. The child, Reeny, meets a writer of books and story-teller, is introduced to his fictional characters, and debates, with other children, their virtues and weaknesses.
In the beginning of my senior year I was eager to expand my understanding of how it would be to work in a hospital. An opportunity arose allowing me to volunteer in the hospital at the University of Chicago. I was able to volunteer at the children's playroom, which consisted of a weekly commitment. The daily tasks I had to perform where to enlighten the spirits of children and reduce the amount of anxiety that developed within them when they approached a hospital visit. I would play games, read books, or just company the patients at their bedside. I especially love to interact with the younger patients because their laughter and innocence warms my heart up.
You did an awesome work, I heard. We have monthly meetings, where we talk about the latest news in the nursing world, policy and procedure, quality improvement and many more issues. What I really enjoy about the meeting is that everyone can address his/her concerns without feeling afraid and intimidated. The meeting led by a registered nurse who is familiar with our day to day situation at work.
HYPOTHESIS: My hypothesis is that none of the Crayola colors are pure colors because they are a mixture of other color components.
My internship began with a short orientation of KPMG’s office located in the Wells Fargo Building of downtown Minneapolis. After some introductions and a few training sessions that outlined what was expected of us in terms of the rules and laws we were required to follow including disclosure of client and firm information and independence affidavits, for example, we were briefed on our trip to Orlando for National Internship Training which would take place the following work day. Training for Partnership-focused federal tax interns would last a whole week filled with events and educational seminars that would introduce us to tax fundamentals and software tutorials that would be helpful during our time with KPMG. National Internship Training would be the primary training session for every KPMG intern in the nation, hosting thousands of interns assigned to all pillars of accounting (audit, tax, and advisory). During meals and events the interns had opportunities to meet interns from around the country helping to expand our professional and social networks, which I found to be one ...
It was a very slow environment and because of this I was a bit bored most of the day. The nurse spent most of the morning catching up on documenting incidences that happened the day before. Most of the activity that we saw when I was there happened right after lunch and everybody came in from the playground. The most enjoyable times for me was when we went to the special needs center to check on one of the kids with diabetes. The teachers in that classroom are amazing for being able to know how to teach and handle kids with learning disabilities. I learned that the school nurse is a lot slower environment and has its advantages if you are a parent. It is very important though, a lot of the kids that came into the office where just seeking attention and approval. A school nurse needs to be able to pick up when something is wrong with one of the students. My biggest weakness during the clinical experience was being able to communicate well with the kids. Since communication varies with the different age groups and there are so many different ages in the middle school, I had difficulty transitioning from talking to the older kids to the younger kids and vice versa. Since each of the kids grow at different rates it was also hard sometimes to tell which kids were the older ones. Since the older ones are on the brink of being teenagers and don’t like being treated like they were
The Girl with the Brown Crayon tells a simple, yet deeply connected personal story of a teacher and a student, as well as other students that embrace themes of race, identity, gender, and the essential human needs to create, and to belong. It is about maintaining order, though a sense of self, one’s own knowledge, capabilities, exposing the strengths and weaknesses while forming one’s own identity in school for the teacher and the students. Becoming a part of something greater than self, but not losing oneself, and how educational interaction can take place between teachers and students, all in an effort to fit in, belong, yet keeping one’s own identity through the growth of change and acceptance
In the hospital, I've got to be in touch with real patients and I even got to treat them. I would ask the patients how they are doing and give them some water if they needed it. The staff also gave me a green light and allowed me to talk to patients and connect to them freely. When you talk to the patients, you can really learn a lot from them. .This experience benefited me because I was exposed to the real world and real world problems. The hospital experience also opened my heart as some of the patients were in terrible condition. It made me realize how fortunate I am and also made me grateful for all the blessings in my life. I can only thank God for that. Another benefit that I got from my internship was having the chance to develop cooperation skills with colleagues. I cooperated with the doctors and hospital staff to get jobs done. They have given me important tasks which I completed. They also give me 100% responsibility when working in the
I think the most challenging moments where when kids would not cooperate or their were multiple kids crying. During my last week 2 little girls started but from the minute that their parents dropped them off they would cry because they missed their moms and dads and it would be distracting for the other little ones so trying to keep them focused was difficult. I also learned that little kids are very curious so they would get up to check on the little kids or try and get them to come back to the group so a couple of them would be wandering and it was our job to bring them back. I think to have made it more successful I would have wanted to start earlier and end earlier because I was leaving late and wouldn’t get to bed till late so I would be tired in the mornings but I would quickly be back to my usual energy. This fellowship taught me how to be even more patient because little kids tend to take their time so it taught me to slow down because I’m usually quite fast paced. It also showed me the importance of being alert because you could look away for a second and one of the kids could be running in the opposite direction. The work that I did made me think about taking initiative and getting things
...ry, it is easy to notice how people need different things, and require alternate ways of studying. You notice people’s emotions and how they react to their surroundings. Some people need silence, some need music, some need space, some need distraction and some people just do it to look good.
I have been working with the recreation director, who plans activities for the residents. I have painted the women's nails and read them letters from their children. Also, I have helped with special days like Ice Cream Day, Summer Picnic Day, and Clown Around Day. For each we create special word scrambles. I also have taken patients for walks. We also have birthday parties and exercise days.
I had my fourth day of school nursing and it was very productive. I love my school nurse Brenda; she is so helpful. I love the tricks that she has taught me for assessments, such as if a child’s pulse is up, chances are something is going on. I also helped Brenda with completing the rest of the vision and hearing rechecks. And worked on interviewing my student for the IHP. Because I knew that my student’s strengths were creativity and communication, I decided to discuss why exercising is important for a diabetic patient. J.J. and I had a great discussion about how diabetics are more likely to acquire complication like high blood pressure, stroke, and cardiovascular disease. I found out that she was worried about becoming hypoglycemic because
An internship is a formal program to provide practical experience for beginners in an occupation or profession. By this point in my internship I am more than half way through it and taking on more and more responsibilities and positions as I go along.
During the course of time, I’ve learned many useful things that have led me to be the person I want to be today. From college classes to work experiences, I now have the ability to exceed upon internship experiences that can shape my perspective on life. The purpose of this paper is to summarize, reflect, analyze, and synthesize on my internship experience at the Children’s Home of Reading-Acute Partial Hospitalization Program.
