My target behavior was slouching, which is defined as not having my back straight, drooped shoulders and having my head head down. To record my behavior, I had a sheet made on my phone to record how many times I slouched that day, by the hour. So, at the end of every hour I checked whether or not I was slouching or not and recorded that onto my phone. I then took this data and transferred it daily to my graph on excel, to maintain a consistent record. The baseline data went for 59 days and the treatment data went for 30 days.
3. To change my target behaviors, I used multiple treatment procedures. I used a back pillow, placement of a sticky note on my computer/homework telling me to not slouch, and my co-workers or family reminding me to sit up, all as cues to not engage in the problem behavior. Also, I removed some establishing operations that caused me to slouch, such as using a comfy chair/back pillow to remove the need to slouch to be more comfortable. Additionally, there were punishment and reinforcement procedures put into place. While I was at work, school, or at home and sitting in my chair or bed, I would allow my self to check my phone for 5-10 minutes anytime I noticed myself sitting up straight at the end of my hour interval. This functioned as a positive reinforcement procedure. However, if I noticed myself

There were times I was too busy during work and didn’t always remember to check every hour and the sticky note wasn’t as helpful as it could’ve been. To oppose this, I started putting an alarm that was slightly louder to remind me to check at the end of every hour. Additionally, sometimes I would forget to use the pillow, so to combat this I would use a blanket I had at work or at home. Lastly, sometimes I would break my own rules and use my phone anyways, to stop myself from doing this I deleted one of my most used apps every time I did it, this prevented me from slacking off

Social psychology is a scientific study that studies how people think, feel, and how they behave under the influence of other people (Aronson, Wilson & Akert, 2013, p. 2). Thinking about what social influence really means, we tend to think of a person who tries to persuade another person to acting a certain way. It can be a form of peer pressure, like taking that first puff of a cigarette, or it can be conforming to popular societal views, such as obeying the law of the land. Fiction is a great way to learn about social psychological perspectives. Watching popular theatrical films is the perfect way to learn because it illustrates the application of many perceptions within the subject of social psychology.
Creating ways to handle problems with guidance approach are very much like a journey to me. Teachers practice guidance when they help children to learn from their mistakes, rather than punish them for mistake they make, and it should not be considered as misbehaviour, but as mistaken behaviour. This reminds us that Child is just at the beginning of a lifelong learning process. At this stage we all make mistakes. Mistaken behaviour is made up of three different levels which in themselves explain each level in the learning process as they lack the experience and interaction to know the difference and therefore make errors in judgement in their actions. The three levels
Before I started this class I never knew what sociology was. I thought I knew, but I actually didn’t. I thought it was some boring study about the society that we live in, but I was proven wrong by this course. Through many different concepts taught I have been able to understand what sociology really is, and how to apply it to my daily life. There were many topics that we talked about in class that I can apply to my life be it school, work, home. Some of the many topics we talked about that really spoke to me were sexuality, race, and gender.
Throughout this semester I have written several essays and journals using techniques both important and unfamiliar to me. This class helped me use these techniques and steps that are involved in creating and formalizing an essay. The writing process of an essay includes information gathering, creating ideas, and writing it on paper to create a cohesive and organized paper. In complete certainty I can say I lack many of the skills necessary to create such a paper, but during this course I have learned some writing methods which I believe have improved my essays. The essays and journals in this portfolio reveal both my strengths and weaknesses in my writing and how I have both continued to make the same errors and improved in other areas.
The most satisfying class I have taken is AP Psychology. For a major part in my life, I always knew that I was destined to participate in a career that involved the understanding of the mind. Since then, I have been fascinated with psychology, taking time out to watch ted talks about new theories or spending time looking for books and articles about the human mind. When I was aware that I could take AP Psychology during high school, I took the class with no hesitation. Even though I am more than fascinated with psychology, the reason why AP Psychology has been a satisfying class all stands on the teacher. My AP Psychology teacher used real life applications with all of the information presented in the textbook. She structured the class in such
Over the past two months I have been increasing my water consumption for my behavior change portfolios. Before the behavior change portfolios I noticed that I wasn’t drinking enough water. It is important for me to change these behaviors because I want to feel and be healthier. When I wasn’t drinking enough water daily I didn’t feel that well, I always use to get headaches, which brought my mood down. Dimensions of health that these health-related behaviors focus on would be getting the recommended amount of water daily to provide energy. My overall purpose of changing my water consumption was to feel and be healthier. My overall goal was to consume more than 64 ounces of water daily and I succeed my goal.
The change I am trying to accomplish, is eliminating the habit of going to my room and laying down on my bed, using my phone and losing track of time. My first attempt at changing my habit didn't go too well. My first attempt went like this, whenever I went to my room, took all necessary items to do my homework, then proceeded to the living room to finish my homework. That was the plan I was hoping would work. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out too well because of having my phone always in my pocket, which lead to me constantly getting distracted by it. Since the weekend is coming up it might be even more of a challenge to do my homework because I have the" I have so many days to do my homework, I'll do it later" mentality . Sadly, I fell into my old habit and kept on procrastinating on my homework during my

The Locus of Control assessment shows how much a person believes they have control over the events that occur within their life. However, I am a person that is multitasking I prefer to work alone so I can hold self-accountable for my actions, although the field I am employed in requires my working with a team. I retain shared information, think it over then discuss to see if new options arise. My score was a 4 which to me means I am a person with an internal locus of control. However, a person with external locus control blames the events in their lives on outside forces (Paul et. al, 2017). Moreover, Multiple Intelligence assessments is an assessment which shows the different ways a person learn which include eight bits of intelligence that influence the way person processes information.
Social cognitive theory is the study on how an individual stores, processes, and applies information about others in their everyday life. It was first known as the “Social Learning Theory”, and was later changed to the term known today as the “Social Cognitive Theory”. The definition of social cognition is defined as any cognitive process that involves one or more than one person. While the definition of cognition is unconscious process in the brain that bring about representations. Social cognition purpose is to study social knowledge, social structure, group behavior, social influences, social categories (age, race, sex) defines a person. (Science Direct) Social cognition is thought to be the outcome of social interactions. One will learn by observing others, this is known as vicarious learning. For example, one is more likely to follow another’s behavior if they can identify with them, whether it be personality wise, age proximity, and more. (Verywell)
Defining psychopathological behaviour comprise of dysfunction of psychological mechanisms and negative impacts against social and physical health, in consonance with Dr. Jerome Wakefield’s notion of “Harmful Dysfunction”.
In the beginning of the semester, we as a class learned about the 8 Habits of Mind. We learned about curiosity, openness, engagement, creativity, persistence, responsibility, flexibility, and metacognition. They were all good habits but many of them, I lacked in all honesty. I already came equipped with some of them but they needed a refresher, which this course did give. How I choose to use them while growing as a student is up to me now.
PSYC321-Social Psychology taught me about the ways in which people are influenced by others, how people make decisions, inferences we make about others’ attitudes and personalities, and influence of situational and variables on behavior. I learned that people behave the way that they do for so many reasons. Behaviors are caused more by the social situation than they are by the characteristics of the individuals. One of the concepts that I recall is Lewin’s equation which indicates that the behavior of a person at any given time depends on both the characteristics of the person and the influence of the social situation. Some of the things we do can also be attributed to cultural influences and differences that exist between societies. I found
Mac: I am a psychology major with a large interest in research. I strive to carry out this project for I have an extreme interest health/behavioral knowledge. I have previously taken psychology 246: Research Methods. Research Methods taught me, step-by-step, how to create and complete a research project. I have had the opportunity to create, run, and write an entire research project in this class. Aside, I am currently involved in Psychology 410 with Dr. Erin Hill. This class allows for students to partner with a professor to either aid them with his/her current research or for the professor to guide the student with his/her own personal research. Dr. Hill
