I have been a leader in several different occasions but there is a certain one that really sticks out. The one that really sticks out to me is being the president of a club at my junior college at Lincoln College which is located in Lincoln Illinois. The club is called Rotaract which is the college name for Rotary. I was the president for one academic year then I passed it onto an underclassmen named Zoe.

I came about this leadership position by showing up to every meeting, every event, and was very nice to everyone that was in the club. Even though i was only in the club for a semester before I became president. I showed powerful leadership skills, communication skills, and I was more than willing to take on this leadership position. …show more content…

There is a lot of great leaders that make mistakes on a daily bases. So even though I am a leader I still do make mistakes. My first mistake was my attitude, everyone has bad days and some people just take it out on other people. I tried very hard not to, if I was in a bad mood I let my best friend know which happens to be the vice president. So if she knew and I knew that helped us speed up the meeting. I tried to make the meeting very short if I was in a bad mood, so not everyone had to deal with my attitude. My second mistake, which really its not a mistake I just needed to use better time management skills. I had a part time job which happen to be off campus and only about 5 minutes away from the school. I worked about 15 to 20 hours a week at. I was done by six every night besides the nights we had the meetings on. For Mondays I requested that i would could be off by four. There has been a couple events where I have not been able to attend because of work getting in the way. Overall, those are the only two negatives I can think off that might of effected the group. Now, I asked the groups members that were in the group with me at the time when I was president. They may give a response such as, she was to striked, was never available when I needed her or they can have positive feedback such as she was a great president, always let us know what was going on and was always willing to help out …show more content…

At the same time I would do the same survey about me and see if there was a difference and what kind of difference it would be. Based off of the results of the survey is how I would then assess myself and set down with my supervisor of the club and see what she thinks and what she has to say. If I could change something it would be the number of activities we do in a semester. I am a type of person that likes to do things in the community. I also understand that we have things to do on the weekends. I would probably suggest two activities a month one during the week and the second one on the weekends. Another thing I would change is I would of joined a lot sooner than I had which was right after we got back from Christmas Break. A change that i would like to do is the way we do 50/50 ticket raffle at the home basketball games. When I first started as president we were just going up and down the aisles of the bleachers and draw a winning ticket out at half time. When I graduated in May I them going up and down the aisles and sitting out by the entrance and the concession stands. Another change I would do it somehow fit a couple more activities in each semester.

If i was a group member I would evaluate the group leader on his or her communication skills, ability, time management, and what strengths stand out while being in a leadership role. I would hope the leader is expecting
