As my peers and I enter the stage of emerging adulthood, we have to begin thinking about what each of us needs to do as individuals to remain healthy and happy in our days on Earth. As of now many of us are in school; pursuing the degree that will be used as a tool to get the job we want. Regardless of the path in life we choose, however; there are a few general categories that we need to work on fulfilling in order to (in theory) lead healthy lives. Throughout this paper I will be using information from the MSU Dept of Health and Human Development well-being model, as well as information form the chapters about adulthood in the textbook “Experiencing the Lifespan”, and seeing how my life matches up with the ideas presented in these sources. …show more content…

Included in this are physical fitness, life expectancy, nutrition, sickness, and health care. In my earliest memories I remember being extremely skinny. However as I entered the fourth grade I began to move to the opposite end of the scale; gaining a little bit too much weight. I began to shed many of my extra pounds as I began puberty, however I still had a slightly noticeable amount of unneeded body fat. I was already fairly healthy, but at the start of this year I decided to push myself to lose the last few unneeded pounds. At the start of the school year I tipped the scale at 182lbs, and I’ve managed to get myself down to 170lbs. Being in better shape than I ever have before, and knowing I still have a ways to go makes me feel confident about the physical side of my life. Moreover, I’m currently eating healthier than I have in the past; and living in a city within a developed nation makes it fairly easy for me to have access to healthcare when needed. Role Confusion. After reflecting on how my life has been going recently, I can see how I fit into this stage. In this segment of one’s life, an individual is often trying to figure out their place in this world; their “identity”. Furthermore, humans of this age are often trying to figure out what their “role” in life will be. Should they go off and be a nurse? Or are they more interested in engineering. Many college goers realize that the life they want to pursue can’t be achieved by going to school and getting a degree. My current plan is to be a nurse, however having to deal with money may prevent me from attending school at Montana State next year, so I need to figure out where I want to go to get this degree done.
