I first became involved with anime at the age of five when a traumatic event occurred in my life which led me to the world of anime. I remember that my dad took me to the park to play and that there was a man being aggressive along with cussing at the community. We were still inside the car and the man walked up to us and started hitting the driver side of the car, I jumped to the back of the car and began crying out of fear, screaming to my dad to lets go but he wouldn’t listen. The police came immediately and secured the man but I didn’t care about that, I just didn’t understand why my dad wouldn’t listen to my words of plea. What helped me cope with my problems was watching anime and seeing the predicaments the characters got into. By the end of the different anime, I would grasp a life lesson that it represented, being live your life the way you want to, you’re in control of your own destiny, be brave, and you have people who cherish you, so smile. These are just a few of the important life lesson that I acquired form watching anime. Moreover after hearing the story of the El Cristo Roto from my grandma, and knowing the significance, sacrifice, it made me gather up the strength to possess a strong will of self-control. Nothing in this life is realized without hard work and sacrifice. I plan to transfer to an animation school and graduate in order to become an animator. I chose the path of an animator because I want to show people of all ages the lessons that a cartoon or anime can portray to us. I also worked with my brothers in construction, mainly helping them to put up walls, surface preparation, and painting. Moreover, in December, my dad and I go to Michoacán, Mexico every year to work in my grandpas’ ranch, knowing that it’s time to harvest beans, corn and to collect grass and hay for the animals. At the end of the month, we mark the avocado trees that need harvesting the following month. Apart from working within the family, I also help out the church community by volunteering to help sell at special events but if a subgroup needs help I sometimes help them out too. Moreover, during high school, I would read and act out stories for children during a book festival for Mexican culture. An achievement I value must be the first academic metal I received during elementary school for being the student of the year, even though it was my first year as a student. I still feel proud of the achievement because it represents all the hard work that I made, this award was giving to students that were hardworking, helpful, and nice so receiving this award was a
