Naturally, being a student, I have a stiff neck and back, which was my main concern going into this. I try to do yoga and/or workout daily, but we all know that that doesn’t always happen, life gets in the way sometimes. I think it’s because I’ve never really had any contact with smokers, to begin with. No one in my family or group of friends’ smoke, and so I’m very fortunate in that way. To be honest, I personally find it to be gross, and can’t really see the benefits it provides, but at the same time, I’ve never tried it so who knows! Exposure to second-hand smoke increases a non-smokers chances of developing lung cancer from 20% to 30%. It also creates a higher possibility of heart disease, and due to the negative effects it has on your blood, it risks a heart attack too. 3 tips to protect your lungs and prevent lung disease are as follows. Number 1: wash your hands. This prevents germs that may cause infections from traveling. Number 2: do something active for 30 minutes each day. This is important because it allows more oxygen to be transported to your lungs. Whether that means going for a walk, or biking place to place instead of taking the car/bus, the possibilities are endless! Number 3: cover your coughs. This topic paper discusses the book Teaching the Nuts and Bolts of Physical Education, which was published in 2008. The accompanying CD-ROM with sample lesson plans was not provided with the book. This book is really a guide to teaching 17 manipulative and 8 locomotor skills that children ages 5 to 12 will learn in physical education class. I will briefly discuss a couple of these skills with a suggested activity. This is a handy guide for a future physical education teacher. There are drawings and steps for each skill and key words or “cues” are also given. Finally, there are “troubleshooting” tips provided to use when a child is not performing the skill correctly and suggestions for practice activities to help children learn the skill. Truly this is a “nuts and bolts” book. It is really more of an instruction manual. I will begin with the skills taught in the book.

During the past decade, there have been exceptional levels of funding and resources solely aimed at physical education and school sport within the United Kingdom (UK). The DFE suggests that 57% of children with SEND attend a mainstream school (DfES 2007). Physical Education (PE) has been a rising topic of discussion due to decrease in activity and an increasing level of child obesity within the UK(Coates and Vickerman 2009). There are various implemented strategies such as Physical Education School Sport and Club Links (PESSCL) and Physical Education and Sports Strategy for Young People (PESSYP), which are instruments to ‘direct and guide practice and policies’ (Fitzgerald and Stride, 2012). Using these governmental strategies, schools try and challenge and attempt to increase participation and engagement with the aim of providing ‘high quality PE lessons’ (Griffin 2012), which targets the government initiative particular the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games to encourage an promote inclusive PE and school sport (Green 2009). Additionally, Fitzgerald and Stride (2012) distinguish on the concluding issue of inclusion should be recongised as part of a broader international concern to promote inclusive education (Forlin et al. 2008). Smoking can negatively affect your system in just a few days, and over time, smokers rarely think about the greater dangers, such as lung cancer, skin cancer, and birth defects. Although I don't smoke, I am still aware of these dangers and try to keep myself away from situations where I am surrounded by smoke. The majority of people don't know that breathing in second-hand smoke is actually worse than smoking a cigarette. People who are constantly surrounded by smokers in places such as bars and restaurants are affected by the smoke they breathe in. While people assume that inhaling smoke straight from the cigarette is worse than secondhand smoke, they forget that the smoker has a filter that holds back some of the toxins that people around them can easily breathe in.

A second way would be that it would help regulate and improve my ability to sleep. Sleep is something many students lack or do not get enough, but exercising and working out can “improve the quality of nighttime sleep, especially when done on a regular basis (Lifestyle, pg. 1)”. Many studies have come to the conclusion that individuals who participate in health and wellness routines as well as a regular exercise program have a relatively increased degree of energy, lower healthcare bills, much better quality of life along with less stress, as well as improved health. Staying in good physical shape and healthy calls for everyone, to be conscious of their health, to be aware of the key fitness and health components and to follow them.
