In this analytical reflection, I will be analysing the practical performance with an emphasis placed on the compositional process. I will also reflect upon any criticisms received, reflecting on how the critical response process helped shape my groups performance. Throughout the development of our piece, it became focused on reliance and how we rely on a variety of objects and people to get through life. This made us research into how we can show reliance with our bodies. I looked at the choreographer Steve Paxton, and began to experiment with contact improvisation. I also studied my own reasoning behind why I dance (See appendix 5) and began to craft ideas of what I wanted to perform through scoring. Scoring is a really effective as a compositional process and it really helped me to focus on what I wanted to show and the spacing of each performer on the stage. Initially I began working on a score to describe how I wanted my movements to segue into one another (See appendix 6) before moving on to visual recordings of my choreography to share with the group (see appendix 7). The musical creativity of my second song I feel worked well through my leap and expressionism, the song choice came from one of my favourite artists, Darren Criss. Not for his singing but his songwriting is filled with so much emotion and I always feel connected to his work. It is incredibly relevant to the solo movement I am describing through my body as it is a language of destruction and reaching out for help.
