Reflection Of Classroom Observation: Participative In Class

After the conversation wih my CT, Kelly, I have gain greater insights on how lesson objectives, instructional methods and time management can be changed to cater to different claas profile. One thing that I noticed about the classes is that the students are motivated to learned and are participative in class.

In this first week of observation, my first observation was with the Pre-u 1 classes covering the chapter on demand and supply. Since the students are still new to the subject, many of them are still grappling with what economics is about. I experienced the importance of setting clear classroom routines and expectations, building trust and strong rapport with students , maintaining positive discipline and positive classroom culture. The establishment of routines and expectations helps to save time on administrative matters such as the collection of homework and having to discipline the students for misbehaviour. The positive classroom culture helps to create a condusive learning environment where students are comfortable with sharing their answers with the whole class and participate actively in discussion. I have also learned some innovative ways to check for students’ understanding such as the ultilisation of notebook for students to share their takeaways and also using it as a medium for less vocal students to raise questions that they are too shy to ask in class. This notebook helps to assess what the students have learned and lthe questions posed can be address in the next
