For my industry interview I decided to interview my grandfather who was involved in the recruiting process for student athletes at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut. Just a little background before we jump into the interview, I was born and raised in Madison, Connecticut, my grandma and grandfather lived in the neighboring town next to us. Before my grandfather retired, he was in charge of the recruiting process for a private high school called Choate. He worked with other schools and organizations before Choate, but Choate was the most notable one. The reason I chose to conduct my interview on him is because we both share the love for sports. Whenever I was little and went to see him we would discuss our favorite sports teams and watch games together, whenever …show more content…
To start off my interview I asked him a couple questions about the requirements and what his field of work involves then I transition into why he loves it and what makes him so passionate about it. Here are a couple of questions I asked him with is response attached to them. The first question I asked was, how did you prepare for this position? What degree did you obtain? What prior experience did you obtain over the years? He earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management, after which he worked closely and networked with a variety of different coaches, small organizations and colligate athletics to get a feel for the industry. As an undergraduate student he went out of his way to connect with different people to pick their brain and figure out which direction he wanted to head in for his respectable field. Next question, what was the process like that you had to go through when applying for this position? He started at the bottom and eventually climbed the ladder and made his way up. He learned through others and picked the brains of the people he studied under until he made a name for himself. Once he got the feel for the industry and the proper knowledge to know how
After about an hour of hearing about his career, the interview came to an end. But I took a lot away from it. I think the thing that stuck with me the most is the idea of building a report with everyone you come into contact with. He explained how important it was to build with inmates, but he said it was something that has served him well in every area of his life. Being able to connect with people and see what you can do to make their life a little bit better will in turn make your life more meaningful, no matter what career you chose.
I have always loved sports and the competitiveness that comes along with them. In so doing, I have decided to eventually become either a high school or college coach at some point in my life. Subsequently, I decided to interview the Vilonia High School Cross Country Coach, Coach Sisson. As I walked into her office, I instantly noticed all of the trophies and team photos from all of the past years of coaching. She is also the school nurse so her office has first aid equipment intermingled into the trophies and team pictures. While I set up my notes and questions for the interview on one of the desks in her office, she was finishing up a diagnosis of one of the high school students who felt sick. After her patient left, I quickly started the interview in order to waste no time. She began with how she got involved in coaching. The Vilonia School District expressed their interest to her as being the next cross country coach several years ago. She was widely known for her passion for running and she gratefully accepted the position and has been a coach for numerous years now.
When I was accepted into the University of Oklahoma, I was not aware of the tradition or prestige that the football team carried. Moreover, I had no idea about the honor it was to don the crimson and cream in the arena of athletics. And, I never envisioned rooming with them. I enjoyed sports, but I loved reading and writing more. Initially, I was focused on building a collegiate career that one day would propel me to my goal of studying law. Yet, the more time I spent interacting with the athletes, the more parallels I noticed between their personalities and mine. Their diligence, perseverance and compassion were all traits that I could identify with since they were reflective of me. For the most part, the majority of the athletes were hungry to achieve and they desired knowledge at all costs; a combination that still resonates with me today.
For my informational interview I spoke with a nurse who has experience working on a medical surgical unit in a hospital setting. She has been a nurse for 10 years. She also has her bachelors degree in nursing. I started my interview by introducing myself and explaining what my assignment was about, and how she could help me tremendously with answering some questions regarding her nursing career, and what she does as a medical surgical nurse.
Analysis of key Recruitment Documents The two main recruitment documents at Sainsbury's are the job description and the person specification. A job description lists the main tasks required in a job. Sainsbury's have job descriptions for every job they have from the caretaker to the managing director. The job description describes two types of information: it describes the tasks of the job and it describes the behaviour necessary to actually do these tasks satisfactorily.
I have interviewed my Father through email over a week period, he was very helpful to me and
First of all, I would inquire about how he began to fall in love with the sport of basketball. I have always wondered why he began to be so passionate with the game of basketball and what led him to become such a good basketball player today. I would also ask why he chose to attend Duke University for college to play basketball. Duke has always been my most favorite
He exercised the utmost professionalism during our interview, and was diligent to answer every one of my questions until I had exhausted my time. I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to share some of his valuable time.
It was finally the end of my junior marching season. The time had come for the now former drum major to help aid in the decision of who would be his successor. Ever since I joined my high school’s marching band in my freshman year, I took a keen interest in the position of the drum major. The grace with which the drum major used to keep the band together had amazed me and in that moment, I knew that I wanted to exude that same grace. After the date for the interviews were announced, I would come up with a couple questions that I thought might be asked of me and I practiced my answers, making sure that they were “perfect” or at the very least expressed my interest in the position.
In yet another blatant display of bias from the liberal media, I share the interview questions from Thursday with U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill on Morning Joe.
Some questions would include: Why did he choose this profession? How did he get into coaching? What does one have to do to get a job as a coach? How does a coach become successful? I aim to answer all of these questions and more in my paper.
According to Noe (2012), most experts believe that the most important human resource decision makes by a leader is deciding who to hire. Manager manages the recruitment and selection process.
