Reasonable dought of Adnan
Adnan Syed was convicted of the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee and has been in prison ever since. In the serial podcast there was a huge amount of interest in his case, when a Baltimore judge allowed the case to reopen post-conviction proceedings and new evidence. According to serial Adnan and Hae were still good friends after they broke up. There was no logical reason of why Adnan would kill Hae.
On January 13, 1999 Hae min Lee was found dead a month later after she went missing, the day Hae went missing one of the first persons the police decided to call was Adnan because maybe he would’ve known were Hae could be found. Since people had said they seen

Hae with Adnan the day she went missing.
When the police decided to call Adnan to ask if he had seen Hae, he said that his reaction was not surprising. Adnan taught that maybe she had gone out of town or gone somewhere else. Jay who was Adnan’s friend said that Adnan was the one who killed hae, and that his plan was going to be to ask Hae for a ride after school and do what he had planned while jay had Adnan’s car .Some people also heard him asking Hae for a ride during school. That is why the first person that the police decided to investigate was Adnan he was one of the main suspects.
In my opinion Adnan could not have been the main suspect that committed the crime.
There were not enough evidence for Adnan to be accused for the murder of Hae min lee first of all what jay has said does not match up and most of all the timing Adnan had to have in order to actually kill Hae. He could have not killed Hae in such a short amount of time of 21 minutes. The evidence that could have helped a lot would’ve been a DNA test to have proof whether he was guilty or not, but since it was in 1999 they still did used DNA as an evidence. Jay has been constantly changing the story which makes it a little bit stranger of why would he keep on
changing the story of what actually happened (ep 4). Could it been that maybe he could’ve been the one who killed hay, who knows? Because he did say that he was with Adnan when he helped him burry hae. But yet Jay testifies that he had nothing to do on killing hae, every time that jay gets asked questions about the day hae disappeared he seems to be stunned of what he is going to say. Some people believe that if it was a regular day for someone it is most like to not remember what exactly happened that day unless there was a special occasion that certain day. Adnan confesses that he would never do something like that” But Adnan has always maintained he had nothing to do with Hae’s death” (Serial 1). Adnan could hardly remember what he had done that day because according to him nothing special happened that he could remember. Another reason why they had accused him for Hae’s murder was because of the Neisha call the girl that Adnan was flirting with who received a call from Adnan’s cellphone, which Adnan had stated he did not have his cellphone that day he had let jay borrow his cellphone for the day. That it could’ve been that jay was probably with someone else that called neisha or that it could have been a “but dial” as how Adnan said that call would have happened. If it was a “but dial” it could’ve been because in 1999 att at that time they would still charge costumers if it had kept on ringing without answering.
What would you do if you were convicted of a crime you didn’t do? The story of Serial narrated by Sarah Koenig is about a man named Adnan Syed. Adna Syed was wrongly convicted of killing his ex girlfriend Hae Min Lee.Jay Wilds is a friend of Adnan who used to smoke weed with him sometimes after school, but he is also a suspect in the case. This story is interesting because Koenig is trying to find out who the murderer is of Hae Min Lee or if Adnan can be proven innocent. Believe that Adnan is innocent of the murdering of Hae Min Lee because one piece of evidence which are letters that a woman named Asia wrote to Adnan claiming that she saw Adna that day and at the time Hae was murdered at the library and that she even had a little chat with him. Another piece of evidence is that Best Buy tweeted a tweet saying that they never had a payphone which Jay claims that Adna called him from to come pick him up.
In Episode 8 of Sarah Koenig’s podcast, Serial, Koenig claims that Jay isn’t a reliable enough source of information for the state to find Adnan guilty of the murder. She argues that there are too many inconsistencies in the story that he has told police over and over, and that there are too many problems in the story that the police use against Adnan.
When Hae Min Lee disappeared on January 13, 1999, all of her friends (including the subsequently charged killer, Adnan Syed) thought that she moved to California. Hae’s body turned up a few weeks later on February 9, and the police later charged Adnan Syed, her ex-boyfriend with her murder. Jay Wilds, an alleged accomplice to the crime, confessed to the police that he knew that Adnan killed Hae and Adnan tasked him with burying her. The state later used Jay’s testimony as the foundation for their case, even though it contradicted some of the state’s own physical evidence. While Jay’s eyewitness testimony does identify Adnan Syed as Hae Lee’s murderer, it is self-serving and inconsistent, with no physical evidence to corroborate it. Therefore,
...hould have gone to prison for the evidence that they found. And this should stand as a reminder for future police officers that they need to follow all the rules set forth by the 4th amendment and stop this from happening again. Just to save some paperwork the police officers cost them to lose this case and someone who should be in prison is free to do this again.
Can you imagine being convicted of first degree murder at only 17 years of age? Adnan Syed couldn't believe it either. In fact he was mortified when they charged him of brutally suffocating, his ex-girlfriend Hea Min Lee, to death. Adnan Syed was a pawn that the Baltimore detectives played with, a mere dupe to cast off as the true killer. Syed is like many Americans, he was never granted a fair trial. There is some actors that make Syed guilty, but perhaps it was just pure coincidence that got Adan wrapped up in this whole mess. One simply can't overlook the major factors that make him innocent enough to grant him a second trial. Adan has spent half of his life in prison, due to a wrongful conviction that happened many
Murder Could you believe or even imagine a charming, handsome and popular high school boy killing his ex-girl-friend? This is the case involving Adnan Syed in the murder of Hae Min Lee in 1999. "On January 13, 1999, a girl named Hae Min Lee, a senior at Woodlawn High School in Baltimore County, Maryland, disappeared. A month later, her body turned up in a city park.
Based on information provided by Sarah Koenig’s podcast, Serial, Hae Min Lee is killed by Adnan Syed, he yet says he didn’t murder her. Adnan is convicted of committing homicide, which he didn’t do, should not be in jail. This is for 3 main accounts; if something important happens a person remembers that day, Jay knew where Hae’s car was, and by how Sarah and her friend go by the day Jay described.
Holloway was last seen around 1:30 A.M. leaving the local bar in a silver Honda with three young males named Joran van der Sloot, Deepak Kalpoe, and Satish Kalpoe,” (Federal Bureau of Investigation). Not a soul knows what happened during the early morning after Holloway left the bar. However, Joran van der Sloot is the prime suspect for this case. Van der Sloot is person who Holloway was seen last with. Evidence points to him and even witnesses believe he is the murderer. It is believed that he gained her trust and killed her because she wouldn’t offer him what he initially wanted, which was sexual intercourse. This murder occurred out of spite, and hatred.
This was something that honestly suited Adnan’s defense more than Jay’s. Remember when I said “He didn’t seem like some sort of assasinator?” Well, he really wasn’t. Why would he kill Hae anyway? Hae and Adnan had dated for about two years, but during the end, it’s like most high school relationships. Someone in the group, or both members, eventually lost interest and break up, which in this case, Hae was the one who broke up. She fell in love with another person, named Don. When they had a break up, Adnan was emotional, and upset. Now, that would make sense, but that was two months before Hae’s death. Why would Adnan kill Hae 2 months after they broke up? I mean, he was described as a player, and sometimes he’d cheat on her. Even after they broke up, many friends his said Adnan eventually got over it.
Jay describes his active-involvement with Adnan in the crime. If Jay tells us the truth, he brings Adnan to school, holds onto Adnan’s cellphone and car so he could pick Adnan up when Adnan calls; picks Adnan up after he committed the murder, cruises around with Adnan, and brings Adnan to track practice. Additionally, Jay cruises around with Adnan in the afternoon, accompanies Adnan to LeakIn park and aids Adnan in digging the hole to bury Hae. Which criminal incriminates oneself? When Jay speaks about picking up Adnan he says: “I noticed that Hae wasn't with him. I parked next to him. He asked me to get out the car. I get out the car. He asks me, am I ready for this? And I say, ready for what? And he takes the keys. He opens the trunk. And all I can see is Hae's lips are all blue, and she's pretzeled up in the back of the trunk. And she's dead.” Jay goes to pick up Adnan from the actual murder and describes the episode in detail. Jay uses short sentences for dramatic effect, and speaks confidently, which is unusual when incriminating
Would you lie to them if you actually did it? This is a story of a teenager who was in a similar situation. His name is Adnan Syed. He was convicted of killing Hae Min Lee, his ex-girlfriend, in Maryland in 1999. 15 years later Sarah Koenig started a podcast, Serial.
The issue here I believe is with the justice system itself and not the direct actions of the prosecution or the police involved. The blame isn’t really so easy to point out honestly. If anyone is to blame at all it would be the people who tampered with the crime scene and the potential failure/inability of the police in preserving the scene if it was possible.
A lot of people said he was just too nice. He was said to help out a lot and did a lot of good work. He would get anything for anyone, no questions asked. Though, he was said to make jokes that he would one day kill all of the crack addicts and prostitutes to clean up the streets. A major thing was he was the one dealing the crack to the girls. He would give them crack in exchange for money and sexual favors. He also had a lot of sketchy jobs done and had a lot of sketchy evidence that pointed to him. For example, he had a bunch of pictures of girls, most who have went missing. He also had the same gun that was used to kill more than half of the girls. A friend of his who was interviewed said it even seems like Lonnie was trying to get caught. He would show off the gun and the pictures and even one time handcuffs fell out of his car. He would try to get different women into his car and make them come into his home. Lonnie tried to get this one prostitute, Roxanne, to go into the back of his garage. He didn’t even really have a reason. The same girl said that she witness Lonnie slit this one girls throat. It was also said that most of the cars he was working on were cars that he had stole. One of his friends in an interview said that he would steal cars and that’s the reason he thought Lonnie was getting arrested but his other friend immediately shut that down and said Lonnie had never stolen a car. His friends also thought
The last person to see Short alive was a 25-year-old salesman named Robert Manley. He reportedly noticed Short standing alone on a street corner and he offered her a ride. Short, eventually, got in the car. The pair spent the night in a motel and, the next day, Manley dropped her off at the Biltmore Hotel where Short said she was meeting her sister. After the murder, the police tried questioning Short's father, that left the family when she was young, as well as Short's “boyfriends” but learned nothing new. Due to the fame and reputation of the case, many people were claiming to be the killer, and as much time was spent proving these people...
How does Adichie experience the dangers of a single story in her own life? Specifically, how does she experience herself as being on the receiving end of a single story, and how does she find herself perpetuating single stories as well? (Consider her single story of poverty about Fide, her U.S. roommate’s single story about Africa [“patronizing, well-meaning pity” filled with preconceived notions about “catastrophe” on the continent, and Adichie’s own single story about Mexico with the “abject immigrant.)
