Ray Kroc said it best when he stated, “the quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves.” This is deemed true for every leader that I have admired throughout my life. Take Tom Brady, for example. He would have never won five super bowls had he not set the standard of being an elite-caliber quarterback from the beginning.
And this is not to be considered arrogance. It should simply be considered confidence, and admired by all in his ability to dream. I find this ability consistent in every leader I have admired; being, the ability to project the future and implement it one goal at a time. Every leader must be able to accept the fact that they are not perfect and each person has things that they exceed at and things that come with a bit of difficulty. I do not see myself as being outstanding in a certain area but I do think that one of my talents is adjusting to change. In my view most important character of a good leader is that they must be compassionate. Having a personality of caring about people is important. You can?t be a good leader unless you generally like people. That is how you bring out the best in them. No matter what credential they have and how much experience they have in administration but without being compassionate they can't ever become a responsible and successful leader. For example Hitler is known for his cruelty and he had no feelings for his own race. He failed to understand the feelings of Jews and thus persecuted them. He also failed to know the fact that the strength of his country lies in them, while opposite is Mahatma Gandhi, a major political and spiritual leader of India, followed nonviolent actions, avoiding any bloodshed in the country during their struggle for Independence. Because of his compassionate nature many leaders in today's world has looked him upon. So leader must be compassionate first without being influence by any ulterior motive.

When I think of someone who is a great leader I automatically think about current and previous managers I have had over the years, and honestly I cannot say that any of them are the definition of a great leader. So after I looked up many different definitions of a leader all of them basically defined a leader in the same way, someone who leads people. So, a leader does not typically have to be a manager it could be a teacher or a parent. That is when I realize that a great leader has always been right in front of me teaching me great values, and that is my mother.
