Juniors were also called explorers in Ellington and Darien, Connecticut and Patrickis glad he's no called an explorer. In the story it stated, "Patrick thought that was even worse than junior. felt he did very little life saving then he planned to do. Patrick is also considered confident because he was so confident that he would save the lives of the people in the plane.
"Whoo-eee!", said Patrick out loud, laughing. I'll be first!, he thought" This shows that Patrick was so confident that he was going to be first to the plane crash and save the people injured. Even when he was helping people he sounded confident. For instance, "Patrick shouted, "Everybody who can walk, help somebody get to the house! It's about two hundred yards out of the woods and up a grassy hill. You can see it as soon as you're out of the trees. Get in out of the rain and get warm. Help is on the way." Patrick is showing confidence here by sounding really confident that help is on the way and everything will be okay. Last but not least, Patrick is also described as a hero. Patrick is a hero because he helped lots of peoples lives in the plane crash. He made sure everybody who was injured was taken care of. Even though he was scared, he pulled through and forgot about being scared. Patrick wasn't even thinking about being a paramedic, he was thinking about saving the lives of the people. Yet it was hard for Patrick because he was only a junior, but he didn't care. Again Patrick pulled through and helped

In the short story, “Until Gwen” by Dennis Lehane, it starts off with the main character named Bobby who is getting picked up by his father from prison with a stolen Dodge Neon. His father wasn’t alone, he brought himself a company and it was a hooker named Mandy. We got a sense of who his father was, a “professional thief, a consummate con man” (647). We don’t know why he was in prison until the rest of the story slowly reveals the flashbacks he has with his girlfriend Gwen and the incident prior of going to jail. Bobby has no sense of who he is or where he is from because there no proof of record of him such as a birth certificate. After meeting Gwen, his life has changed and felt the sense of belonging into the world he is living in. Bobby’s
Patrick is a phenomenal role model because he is humble, gentle, loving, and devoted to God. During his time in Ireland St. Patrick turned pagans to Christ. St. Patrick could have chosen the path of Jonah, deciding the sinners of Ireland were not worthy of Gods forgiveness. Instead, he performed the miracle which was converting all of Ireland. Thorough all his accomplishments and work as a missionary, The Catholic Church deemed him worth of sainthood.
There is a hero in us all. A hero is someone who risks their own life to save or do good for others. Ponyboy is a hero because he risked his life to save children from a burning church. Johnny is a hero even though he killed someone it was to save his friend’s life but he also saved children from a burning church. Dally has been arrested, picks fights, and drinks, but when it comes to the people he is close with he has his soft spots for them. All bad boys have a good side.
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
When people think about heros it is a person in a cape flying into burning buildings to save people or fighting a villain to save the world. According to Oxford Dictionary a hero is a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. This shows how just normal people can be qualified as heros. A book that exemplifies this is To Kill A Mockingbird because it is filled with people that went out of their way to help others or the society as a whole. A person who did this in particular was Atticus Finch. Atticus Finch was a hero because he fell under the definition and was admired for his courage, achievements, and noble qualities.
Heroes. Everyone wants to be a hero, but sometimes, people lose sight of what a true hero really is. It does not have to be someone who flies around and saves innocent people from perilous monsters. A hero is simply someone that inspires others. In Alexie’s The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Junior was a hero because he rose above the expectations the world placed on him through his courage, passionate determination, and sympathetic perception.
In the short story by Etgar Keret, Bad Intentions, the narrator is a mechanic who is hired to kill the only man who saved his life. This man is Patrick Grace, he saved him from an orphanage when he was a little kid and ever since he has been a good man in the narrator’s eyes. Patrick Grace is a so called Angel because he has done nothing wrong in his life at any time. (64) This is extremely hard to believe because everyone in their life, whether it was when they were young or old has done something bad in their life. Mr. Grace is a little too good to be true because no one person can fix a whole orphanage and save countless lives that easy as he did.
On the way to their prom, there was a horrific car crash. 20 teens exited their white stretch limo to help the people that were hurt. They worked together as a team to evacuate the cars and bring people to safety. Once everyone was taken care of and everyone was safe, the teens continued on to their prom to enjoy their night. All of the teens that helped save the victims of the car crash are heroes. What is a hero? There are many different types of heroes. Whether it is a teacher that helps a child realize what they wanted to be in life or a firefighter that saved someone from a burning building. A hero is someone that would risk everything to save only one person. A role-model that everyone should aspire to be. Not someone that manipulates
A hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievement, or noble qualities. John Jay was a hero because he was one the nation’s Founding Fathers. He helped bring independence to the colonies along with creating a constitution
Throughout the course of history there has been many remarkable people that have created an impact on the world. But what is hero? Robert F. Kennedy once said, “Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or lots of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a ripple of hope.” Meaning a true hero is someone who can stand up for an idea, or can help eliminate the unfair treatment in which the rights of a person are ignored; and everytime gives people the faith that everything is going to be okay after all. John Lennon is a good example of a hero based on Robert F. Kennedy's description of a hero. John lennon is a hero because he peacefully fought against war through his fame and music, promoting peace and inspiring many people.

McCandless is a very independent person, a person with high hopes, that has a lot of courage, and is a very brave man for going out by himself in the wild of Alaska of the Stampede Trail. Chris McCandless had a lot of courage on going to Alaska by himself at a young age. While Chris was at any city or anybody’s house, he was ready to go to Alaska. But while he was there, close to the end of his life, he left a note on the back of the bus saying, “S.O.S I need your help. I am injured, near death, and too weak to hike out of here i am all alone, this is no joke. In the name of god, please remain to save me. I am out collecting berries close by and shall return by evening. Thank you, Chris McCandless. August?” Chris McCandless was by himself at the time. He shows his courage because while by himself, he went back out even though he was near death. He went out for food. Food for his health. That shows how much courage he had for his trip. Chris McCandless encouraged many young men to ...
A hero is considered to be any man noted for courage or nobility of Purpose; especially, one who has risked or sacrificed his life. ..., nurturing environment. If Patrick did not act in this way, by default he would be supporting a maxim that allowed all people to take children away from their parents, which cannot be universalized, as the structure of society and families everywhere would vanish. He acted out of and in accord with duty to return Amanda to her mother. Amanda rightfully belongs with her mother, and Patrick chose to turn Doyle in to make things right. He acted from real experience and without regard for a further end. I admire Patrick, as I would have done the same exact thing. Amanda belongs with her mother, even if her mother may not be the best. Also, Amanda’s grandmother and possibly other relatives could help in her upbringing, in spite of her mother’s drug addiction. Kidnapping is not the best alternative. What would the world be like if we all thought like Doyle?
When the police arrived they try to understand and figure out how Patrick has been killed. But unluckily the officers can not notice Mrs. Maloney was the killer. At the end of the book Mary Maloney giggles when the officers said, “Probably right under our very noses. What you think, Jack?” (Dahl 18). Throughout the beginning, Mary Maloney seemed like a nice caring wife but what Patrick said caused her to do a crime. At that point, Mary knew she got away she eliminated the evidence and managed to escape. Mary laughing shows readers that the killing of her husband was not important to her at all. Therefore the theme of this story is to not trust everybody.
