I was somewhat reluctant to choose the topic of "Race and Sex Discrimination". However, it offends me because several of my co-workers and including myself belief my current employer filled certain jobs based on race and sex. I have the opportunity to work for this employer for the last 12 years, and I have never seen a person of color earn any sort of job promotion that isn't seniority based. On the other hand, our HR department has tried to soften the blanten disrespectfulness, but always find themselfs fighting a lossing
When it comes to salaries, I don’t think it should matter what race and or gender one is. Employers should set a salary and leave it at that and not change it depending who they hire for the job. If they wanted to give one more money than others, then they should do it by seniority, that way its fair and not undermining females. The other topic that I agreed with her is how society categorizes traits as feminine and masculine. Just because one is nurturing, loving, and kind doesn’t mean that that person is a female or feminine, they very well could be a male. The same can be said for people that are independent, confidant, and assertive, it doesn’t make them male or masculine a female could have those traits. The last topic that I agree with Allen on is how in todays world men and women are said to act certain ways in the work force. I don’t think that it should matter what job one holds he or she should be able to express their emotions the way they feel is right as long as they do it in a respectful
How about visible identities (white male) vs invisible identities (religion)? This is where subjectiveness comes into play and while some forms of oppression may target visible identities, invisible identities can be effected just as easily and can be effected just as easily as well. I believe oppression, while linked with multiple identities in society, has to be looked at from an oppressed persons view and even then it’s a matter of a subjective perspective.
Throughout the world, discrimination in all forms has continued to be a constant struggle; whether it’s racial, gender based, religion, beliefs, appearance or anything that makes one person different from another, it’s an everyday occurrence. A major place that discrimination is occurring at is in the workplace. One of the largest problems discrimination issues is believed to be gender. Women, who have the same amount of experience as men are not getting paid at the same rate as men, these women also are equally trained and educated. According to the article Gender Pay, it was discovered in 2007 that a woman makes 81 cents for every dollar a man earns.(“Gender Pay”) . This shouldn’t be happening in today’s society for the fact the society lived in today is suppose to be more accepting. Men are viewed as being more popular, valuable and having higher powers than women. The Reason Discrimination is involved in the equal pay equal work is because of the significance it has to how some businesses pay their employees.

One social problem that has caught my attention is racial inequality. Racial inequality refers to the racial advantages and disadvantages among different races. These might be shown in the appropriation of riches, influence, and life openings stood with individuals in view of their race or ethnicity, both noteworthy and cutting edge. These can be viewed therefore as noteworthy abuse, imbalance of legacy, or general partiality, particularly against minority bunches. Race inequality is not a new issue, just an issue that has been swept under the rug.
Occasionally, management strife and issues will occur because basic human nature instinct calls for disagreements and social interferences. However, it depends on the upper level of management to deal with problems that occur in a timely and effective manner that benefits all parties involved. There are a number of reasons that management discrepancies may occur, with the leading being various attitude problems. If team members feel underappreciated or taken advantage of they will show their disgruntled feelings, and it can cause serious issues if not handled immediately. The second are communication issues, ...
A hot topic that always draws an interested ear to the conversation is ones' views on social justice. The mere mention of the words draws people from far and wide and from all mixes of society. The main problem seems to come up when people really don't know what social justice issues face their society and the rest of the world. The question comes up of how much real knowledge of this subject do people invest in. It is quite surprising how many half truths that run rampant in any society. The whole idea around the word social is society but they tend to be for the most part in the dark on the subject. The people who have the monopoly of truth are the people instituting the injustice and the few who are publicly opposing them.
The institutionalized discrimination of women in the work place is nothing new or unheard of. The brunt of it has happened fairly recently as women began to enter the labor market in force less than a century ago. The affect of this discrimination has had long lasting, generation spanning affects, but as time has passed and feminism spread, the gender-gap has slowly begun to shrink.
Does sex discrimination still exist? Of course; it’s a never ending threat to many people. Sex discrimination occurs all the time. Many people fail to recognize it or they overlook the situation. Examples of where the discrimination would take place are as followed; the military, the workplace, politics, and also in the gay and lesbian community. In the military, women are conceived as being the weaker sex. Therefore their opportunities within it are somewhat limited. Many question whether or not women can “measure up” to specific standards, but properly trained servicewomen can overcome physical shortcomings. In the workplace men and women are both affected. Although employers are permitted to enforce different dress codes for men and women, women are more vulnerable to sex discrimination due to the dress code (The Kielch Law Firm 2014). In the United States, our politics are mostly led by men, but in recent years women have evolved into the scene. Being gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender can change the way people look at you. Many see it as a sickness; therefore you are judged and depending on their outlook of the situation may keep you from getting a job that you want. Ask yourself, does sex discrimination still exist?
Sex is one of the most central themes in society today, with generally everybody in the world, adults and children, either seeing it in the mass media or taking part in it, whether it be for their career, for reproductive reasons, or for pleasure. Because of its predominance, sexuality plays an important, if not the most important, role in social inequality, causing double standards, violence and internal self-worth issues for minorities. Factors such as pornography, prostitution, and the way people view homosexuality and intersexuality as repugnant all influence the prejudice ways in which society views and treats women, homosexuals, and intersexuals.
The evidence and proof that I have shown you will hopefully point your opinion towards my topic in my direction. Nowadays people don’t even know about Racial Discriminations affect on us now because they don’t take the time to learn about one of the biggest threats to our society as a whole. It is vitally important that we start paying attention to our surroundings and it would actually be better if we could do something about it. You see it every day, black on black violence. We tear each other apart for what? Street creditability? Money? Popularity? All things that is irrelevant. We need more love in the world. Less love towards the negatives and move love towards the positives.
Times are hard and people work hard for their positions. We now see where people are disgruntled and retaliate against former coworkers and
Prejudice refers to one’s biased opinions and ideas of others, based on secondary information. Hence, the internalized ideas concerning the prejudiced members in society does not result from personal experiences, but information from third parties. Where prejudice is prevalent, the social relationships between the concerned individuals become strained and unmanageable. The existence of equality in society discourages the frequency of prejudice on racial grounds. The content of this discussion explores the concept of prejudice, as it relates to racial inequality and discrimination. The discussion features the Emmanuel AME Church shooting scenario, which characterizes racial discrimination and inequality. The discussion further examines the role

Discrimination is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people or things, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. In today’s society, men are being discriminated against through the media, suffering from parental custody discrimination, being discriminated against in the courtroom and even for their choice of career. BBC reporter David Benatar said that, “the second sexism is that across the world men are more likely to be conscripted into the military, be victims of violence, lose custody of their children and take their own lives” (Castella, 2012). Even the way men are being portrayed on television and in film plays a big part in how they are treated in real life situations.
