One social problem that has caught my attention is racial inequality. Racial inequality refers to the racial advantages and disadvantages among different races. These might be shown in the appropriation of riches, influence, and life openings stood with individuals in view of their race or ethnicity, both noteworthy and cutting edge. These can be viewed therefore of noteworthy abuse, imbalance of legacy, or general partiality, particularly against minority bunches. Race inequality is not a new issue, just an issue that has been swept under the rug. It was more of a problem during and after segregation, but is reportedly no longer exist. This cause is important to me because I believe as humans, we are all equal no matter the race or ethnicity.
(Citizens, 2010) Another step being made to bring awareness to the cause is that there are professional organizations. There are numerous organizations that focus on civil rights, but two that concentrate on racial rights and equality. The two organizations are Project Equality and Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, mission actually states to focus on racial rights and problems. (Civil, 2017) There are also an official action towards the cause, which is called the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE). With every action that has went towards the cause it has been shun down continuously. For example, The Black Lives Matter Movement was opposed with the All Lives Matter Movement. Yes, all lives do matter, but it was taking away from the significance of racial inequality towards blacks. Things can be done to advocate the issue, but it will continue to be ignored, unless everyone is on the same accord for change. Everyone being on accord, would be everyone accepting that there is race inequality and there needs to be a change in our communities, workplace, and especially our nation as a whole. In United States history, race has always been a prominent social issue. It is deeply rooted into the Constitution which gave rights solely to the white man. When the Constitution was drafted, African Americans were considered to be three fifths of a person (for population counting purposes which benefited the states not the people) and women did not have any rights. Both of these minorities were also considered as property to the white man. The culture of white and rich dominance have left the poor, people of color, and other minorities to suffer.

Equality has been one of the more problematic throughout the years. For example, when people owned slaves and before men and women were made equal there was no sense of equality through all people. Recently there has been a battle for more equality towards African-Americans. They believe that they are not being treated the same as white people, so they have been standing up for what they think is right. African-Americans feel as though white people are treated better than they are and want things to be equal between the both of them. This has been a very long issue, going back all the way to when people still owned slaves, so there has never been that sense
Racial discrimination is a pertinent issue in the United States. Although race relations may seem to have improved over the decades in actuality, it has evolved into a subtler form and now lurks in institutions. Sixty years ago racial discrimination was more overt, but now it has adapted to be more covert. Some argue that these events are isolated and that racism is a thing of the past (Mullainathan). Racial discrimination is negatively affecting the United States by creating a permanent underclass of citizens through institutional racism in business and politics, and creating a cancerous society by rewriting the racist history of America. In today’s world, the American still has barriers to overcome in the matter of racial equality. Whether it is being passed over for a promotion at the job or being underpaid, some people have to deal with unfair practice that would prevent someone of color or the opposite sex from having equal opportunity at the job. In 2004, Dukes vs. Wal-Mart Stores Incorporation was a civil rights class-action suite that ruled in favor of the women who worked and did not received promotions, pay and certain job assignments. This proves that some corporations ignore the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which protects workers from discrimination based on sex, race, religion or national origin.
Furthermore, race has always been a serious matter in the Supreme Court and other government administrations, but they fail to recognize the issue. The injustices that minorities had to deal with in the past are the same inequalities that minorities, especially African Americans, still have to face in today’s society.

Racial inequality amongst African American and whites once started by slavery. Slavery separated blacks and whites as in blacks on this side and whites on the other side. There was no intervening between the two. With the mentality that African Americans have, now in days they feel as though slavery still exists. Our ancestors fought for us to have better days for us to still be locked down with industries, businesses, jobs and so on. Everyone should be on equal terms of rights, dignity, and the potential to achieve great things but unfortunately we see inequality based on race, gender, and other social characteristics that are unjust.
The National Association for Advancements of Colored People (NAACP) is a widely recognized civil rights organization built by advocates who desire to achieve equality for all victimized of racial discrimination. Since being founded in 1909 among supporting advocates, the NAACP holistically shares support on the following black policy issues: inequality in political, educational, social and economic opportunities granted for all citizens, need for legislative change to diminish racial prejudice and replenish equal rights, ensure communities are well acquainted with their constitutional rights and knowledgeable enough to use them in advantage of achieving racial progress and need for more conscious awareness of effects of racial discrimination
When people talk about the civil rights movement, the first thing that comes to mind is the famous speech “I have a dream” by Martin Luther King. His dream in short was to have equality among human beings. For the past thirty years, this country has been revolutionizing humanitarianism because there is greater concern for human welfare than one hundred years ago. The revolution began during the 1960’s, and during that era this country was drastically involved in changing the civil rights of minority groups. From this concern, a program called affirmative action evolved. Like other civil right movements, the affirmative action movement was implemented to promote equality.
Racial Discrimination is a practice where one is treated less favorable due to their race or characteristics associated with he/she race. Within the United States there are many causes of were race matter within society, and unfortunately still does. Although it may not be obvious people still judge others by what they are and what they look like. Racial discrimination is a bias practice that is done everyday. Within this study it was able to point out what exactly leads to those to enable in such thoughts and practices. To be able to do this researchers look upon ones personal life aspects such as point of view, behavior, and environment, which was able to predict how likely one, is to be racial discriminative towards others. Using race a systematic way of life, it is heard for older generation to get out the mentality of looking pass skin color. Although times have change within American society issues such as race will never change.
In the United States and internationally, there is a multitude of indicators that the racial environment is changing. Environmental pollution and racism are connected in more ways than one. The world is unconsciously aware of environmental intolerances, yet continues to expose the poor and minorities to physical hazards. Furthermore, sociologist continue to study “whether racial disparities are largely a function of socioeconomic disparities or whether other factors associated with race are also related to the distribution of environmental hazards” (Mohai and Saha 2007: 345). A social inequality that I would say I’m concerned with would be, racial and ethnic inequality. Racial or ethnic inequality is often established based on characteristics such as skin color and other physical characteristics, or a person’s place of origin or culture. Another meaning of racial inequality would be the advantages and disadvantages that affect different races within the Unites States. Race has become a socially constructed category capable of restricting or enabling social status. Racial inequality can lead to diminished opportunities, which can also lead to cycles of poverty and political problems. With this minority members in a society can result in discriminating actions such as; exclusion, oppression, expulsion, and extermination.
