Quincy Jones was diagnosed with Stage 4 mesothelioma cancer, in July 2015 and given one year to live, but he is not letting that stop him from enjoying his life. According to Creative Loafing, Quincy will continue fighting for his dream of taping his stand-up comedy act and he is very close to it becoming a reality. Quincy Jones has a dream of taping his own hour-long stand- up comedy act so his legacy can continue through the years. Ellen DeGeneres, along with staff made a call to HBO and told them the story of Quincy and his story, they were able to work something out. Before he found out about the HBO news, Nicole Blaine and Mickey Blaine started the Kickstarter page for Quincy to help him raise funds for doing a taping of his stand-up comedy. Within a short time, they raised $50,273from 1,204 backers to help Quincy on his way. Nicole and Mickey wrote on the Kickstarter page, “Quincy Jones, stand-up comic, has one dying wish: Leaving his mark by making an hour-long comedy special. Help fulfill his last dream.” On Ellen DeGeneres’ show, Shutterfly presented him with a $15,000 check to help with the cost of producing his own special. This is the second check Quincy received from Shutterfly, their first check for k$10,000 was to help with travel expenses.
