Research is to generate new concepts, methodologies and understandings by using of a new knowledge or the use of existing knowledge in a new and creative way. (Kowalczyk, 2016) It also can define as an attentive and exhaustive study into a specific problem, concern, or issue using the scientific method. It's something like in elementary school, where students try and learn something by doing an experiment. This is best fulfilling by turning the issue into a question, with the goal of the research to answer the question. (Kowalczyk, 2016) Now days, we hear about all different types of research in the news, means research can be anything. Quantitative studies provide data that can be expressed in numbers. Besides that, Qualitative research studies can provide with details about human behaviour, emotion, and personality characteristics that quantitative studies unable match. (Madrigal, 2012) Both qualitative and quantitative methods of user research play an important role. For example, in product development, data from Quantitative research, such as market size, demographics, and user preferences. It provides important information for business decisions. On the others hand, Qualitative research provides valuable data for use in the design of a product, it including data about user needs, behaviour patterns, and use cases. In the process of analyses the data, it might show the advantage and disadvantage of using survey questionnaire. For example, the advantage of using survey questionnaire is able to reach a huge area of responders, but the disadvantage is if inappropriate wording or placement of questions within a questionnaire can be bias result. Last but not the least, after the result is out, it will able to come out a conclusion which is either accepted the hypothesis or rejected the hypothesis.
