The cons of marriage don 't outweigh the prospects of marriage, and given research; it agrees. The con of marriage is equal for women and men as one cannot merely live without the other. Marriage had a different meaning for men and women almost six decades ago. Women cannot bear heavy lifting, as that is a man’s job. Men don’t appreciate cleaning and don’t want to be seen doing it, as it is women’s work. During the nineteen-hundreds, marriage remained a necessity for women as they could not work for themselves, as a result, women needed to marry into a wealthy family. The man she marries needs to have money. Therefore, she knows that she will be well taken care of, and inherit the solid earnings of her beloved. Men need sex, and women need …show more content…
A spouse’s appearance should not affect your love for them. In a marriage, there should always be a strong foundation. Yes, attraction is the first thing that draws people in; nonetheless, there needs to be a deep emotional connection to withstand the ugliness of aging. Because, if a strong impassioned connection is not there, therefore, the marriage is not healthy. Another con of marriage is a lack of communication. When there is no communication between both sides, immoral actions take place. Such as cheating on each other, since people don’t care much for the meaning sex anymore. People assume having a one-night stand is standard. Couples who have communication issues will lead their marriage into financial ruin. Now to compare single people to married people, who have it better? They both do technically, since some individuals chose to stay exclusive while married people chose to couple up. Between married couples, communication should be kept open, and they should never attempt to persuade their partner into whatever they are not comfortable with. Moreover, they also should not dictate what their partner ensues; how they spend their free time, or even make a curfew for them. The meaning of marriage is a …show more content…
Additionally, marriage will support children to become productive citizens. Marriage is a self-sacrificing act of devotion to another human being. After several years, marriage has been under scrutiny. Though, starting in the mid-80s and forward on society has failed to acknowledge the common good of marriage, and what it has to offer. The government is not going to add their two sense into promoting programs, which will save marriages. However, what about the people who still believe in it, or need to save their own marriage that is on the brink of divorce. The government feels that marriage is not worth saving since it’s not for every person. It is understandable that marriage is not for everybody, but let the entire world a fair chance at the opportunity of
Gay marriage further damages the connection between marriage and parenthood by causing people to not consider marriagement just to be a parent. He later on argues that marriage has been a tradition since the beginning of time and everything supports it. “The family, led by a married mother and father, is the best available structure for both child rearing and cultural health. This is why, although some people will always pair off in unorthodox ways, society as a whole must never legitimize any form of marriage other than that of one man and one woman, united with the intention of permanency and the nurturing of children” (Colson
Is marriage really important? There is a lot of controversy over marriage and whether it is eminent. Some people believe it is and some people believe it is not. These opposing opinions cause this controversy. “On Not Saying ‘I do’” by Dorian Solot explains that marriage is not needed to sustain a relationship or a necessity to keep it healthy and happy. Solot believes that when a couple gets married things change. In “For Better, For Worse”, Stephanie Coontz expresses that marriage is not what is traditional in society because it has changed and is no longer considered as a dictator for people’s lives. The differences between these two essays are the author’s writing style and ideas.
Maggie Gallagher’s article “Why Marriage is Good for You” list some key points as to why marriage could possibly be good for someone. The topic itself is not an easy ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer. It is a very dynamic topic of discussion that undoubtedly requires a significant amount of evidence to prove why a person feels one way or the other. Gallagher attempts to prove why she thinks marriage is in fact good for people. Some of her points are not as strongly supported as they should be. In order to give such a bold statement, a person a needs to have good evidence to support their argument.

Marriage matters. If marriage did not matter, would it even be considered when growing up? The common child at some point thinks about getting married and having children. Our society has gone through monumental shifts throughout its history. A theme that has not changed however, marriage, has survived through it all due to its importance. Our children and our health are two of the most important aspects of life. Marriage will help in both of those categories. Children have better relationships with their parents because of marriage. Watching their parents, they grow up having better relationships themselves. Increased success in school has been noted. Families are more financially stable, leading to a better environment for a child. And of course, we need our health to maintain anything, and that too is affected by marriage. Marriage is recognized everywhere in the world. It has been around for centuries and is a cornerstone to the foundation of modern day society.
...les who do marry after living together have higher rates of separation and divorce (Gorrell 16). The lack of commitment in such a relationship plays a large role in this scenario. If a couple wishes to have a successful marriage, they should show their commitment to each other from the beginning. If they trust each other enough not not cohabit before marriage, their marriage already has a higher probability of success.
Many women feel that getting married will confine them to the life of a housewife, when they would prefer to work or party. The mindset of women today is that they can put off marriage until they fulfill some dream they have pursued for years, such as Jane and her doctorate thesis on Donne (That Hideous Strength, 12). In That Hideous Strength, Jane and Mark put off having children because neither of them feels ready, and this could possibly be a good position. If one has children before she is ready, she can get overwhelmed, and the marriage may dissolve, because the unity of the marriage is not strong enough. While Jane and Mark are young and only recently married, they are making excuses for themselves and their fear of the responsibility of taking care of another human being.
Family is the fundamental building block for all human civilizations. The institution of marriage is beneficial to the individual and society. The health of our culture is linked to the health and well-being of marriage. Unfortunately, the standard of lifelong, traditional marriage as the foundation of family life in our nation is under attack. The breakdown of a marriage not only effects the adults but the children as well. Much of the value mothers and fathers bring to their children is due to the fact that females and males are different. The cooperative relationship of male and female marriage blends their differences to provide a child with balance and understanding. There is more than 30 years of social science studies to support the

Marriage is in trouble! Over the past century the number of single parent households has increased. The traditional American family structure appears to be less appealing to society. Marriage is a socially recognized contract between two people. This contract establishes the obligations they have toward one another. Marriage is also defined as an expression of love and union. Individuals get married for many reasons. These reasons include legal issues, emotional and financial stability, and religious purpose. Being married is beneficial because it provides companionship for the couple, creates a stable home environment to raise children, and enables both parties to benefit financially.
Marriage is one of the most prevalent institution of society, existing as far back as the start of civilization, and is typically seen as a passage in one’s life. If one is not married past a certain age or is married before a certain age, society shames and rejects them. A person will not be seen as truly happy or mature by many until they are married and has have children. By literal definition, the word “marriage” is “the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law” (Webster). In modern times, however, marriage has evolved to have a myriad of definitions and forms in different cultures.
Marriage should be a mature and responsible decision; it should be a long-lasting commitment. People seem to take this commitment all too lightly in today's generation and it leads to high rates in early marriages. I strongly claim that early marriage is a violation of children's basic rights and to making decisions about their own lives. With the standards established up to date, marriage comes with manifold responsibilities; most of them teens are not prepared to handle. Nevertheless, marriage is a matter of choice, but would not it be better to wait a couple of years, so as not to regret the consequences, and not to pay dearly for mistakes?
This view of marriage has changed over the years- husband’s and wife’s roles, the reasons for marriage, and the amount of marriages and divorces. Today, marriage is often viewed as something that is part of a society's expected behaviors and beliefs. Society believes that marriage is a thing that can be entered into and walked out of by the wedded partners at any time that they desire. So long as a...
