Basketball is a great sport for people that like to run because basketball involves running up and down the court.. Some people like basketball because they like the idea of the sport or the competition. Most people have something specific that they like about basketball. For instance: Some people like free throws better than threes. Everyone has a different opinion about the game or perspective of the game that they like or dislike about it.
That does not mean however, it’s going to be easy. We need to train smartly and consistently. To that extent, getting a good grip on basketball fundamentals and building up skills through drills is our ticket to becoming legends in our own personal playgrounds.
I began to play basketball by the 2nd grade and immediately took a liking to the game. I played competitively on my town’s PAL (Police Athletic League) team up until the 7th grade. Then I was old enough to play on my School’s junior high boys’ team. During this year and the following year as an eighth grader I lost the passion and drive I previously had for the game of basketball. As of the 2007-2008 school year our total enrollment barley reached 130. Because of this we did not have a JV team like ...
When I reached seventh grade, basketball took a different role in my life. I played on my junior high basketball team and absolutely loved it. From November to March, my life revolved around an orange ball. From seventh grade to eleventh grade, this was winter to me. I was a true student of the game, learning and improving constantly. I became fairly good, and even won some awards my eighth grade season. During my freshman year in high school, I once scored 29 points in a junior varsity game. When I stopped growing at 6’, however, it became fairly clear that there was no future in it for me as a player.
“The odds of a high school basketball player making it to the “next level” to play college basketball (DI, II, or III) is slim. In fact, only 3.4% of high school players go on to play college basketball. Taking it even further, only 1.2% of college basketball players go on to get drafted in the NBA” (Winters, 2016). There are two types of players in the game. There are the kids who play basketball because they are athletic, and all they are seeking to gain is the recognition and awards. They want to be known. Those players are self-centered, they do not play for the team, and generally don’t play because they love the game. These are the types of players who don’t usually go on to play at the next level. On the other hand, there are the players that absolutely dedicate their life to the game of basketball just because they love the game. That is what coaches are looking for in a player, and that is the kind of player I am striving to be.
Have you ever watched a basketball game? Basketball is a great all-around sport that people love to watch and play. The professional level of basketball is extremely complicated, making it a great and fun sport. Starting from the early 1900’s and traveling all the way to the 21’st century, basketball has truly evolved from 8 teams to 30 and the NBA adding more rules each year.
Coach Godwin said “in order to be where you want to be you already have to be there mentally”. This means if you want to be in the NBA you have to be there in your head already. “In terms of actual skills, dribbling is the first thing young players should learn to do”. In my opinion this is a good idea because if you can’t shoot that well yet you can find your way to the basket and make layups. But, it’s not all about what you have to do with the ball it’s is also in your head. “When your afraid to fail, your usually afraid to try”. “No matter what your friend, family or others think, dedicate to improving yourself “. You always need to keep a positive mentality not a negative one because if you do your going know where, and you will give up and just stop trying. Always think for the best never the worst no matter
Basketball seems to get into your blood. It is said by those who play, "You eat, you sleep and you play basketball." When I was a little girl all I wanted to be was a professional basketball player. I couldn't count how many times I pounded that dumb ball in our driveway until it was too dark to see, then I would play for hours more by the porch light. Now I realize that was only childish insanity. Back then they didn’t even have a girls’ profession basketball league in the states. However, that didn't stop me from walking away empty handed. One thing I learned was how to prepare oneself for life. Well, at least, how to prepare oneself for a game.
Every sport has rules that are set to make sure you enjoy watching it and playing the sport. Basketball has a variety of rules, but only some rules matter the most. When we talk about playing basketball it 's a worldwide played sport which involves a surface to play in, a ball, and a hoop. It 's a sport many people enjoy playing starting from the early age of three until whenever they feel like stopping. Especially in this month of march it 's addicting to watch basketball since its (NCAA) which stands for the National Collegiate Athletic Association. All colleges go at it head on playing each other according to a
The time I went to practice with my sister made me nervous because there all are older and better. My sister's teammate crystal taught me how to shoot and where to aim to be able to make the shot .The coach taught me how to better my lay ups he told me the drills and the correct way to do them. From my experience I already knew how to do somethings. I knew what shooting, dribbling, and passing was .Over
DRIBLING: Dribbling is moving along with the ball while bouncing from one place of the court to another. Skilled dribbling can pull opponents to them and create space for the mates or can dribble and reach to the area to score. Basic dribbling is done with fingers spread apart to push to the ball from the top of the ball rather than with palms of hands and keep the bounce height to waist level. Using fingers provides more grip and accurate placement of the ball. If one’s holds the ball after dribbling and dribbles again, it is considered a foul known as double-dribble. A foul is also awarded if the attacker is tackled in the Key area.
When I was four, I received my first Fisher Price basketball court. The court was in my house and the basket was only five feet tall. My parents placed it in the living room since it was the only room in the house without carpet. I practiced shooting every day. I would wear my father’s sneakers and imitate basketball moves that I had seen on T.V. At that age, I did not yet have any self-awareness about my potential for the sport, but my father knew it was very likely to become a passion. By the age of five, my father was taking me out to the park with a basketball and I can actually remember the day I made my first basket. After that, I went on to play in basketball leagues, as well as work out with my father in gyms every night. Those were the best of times.
The common lay-up is one of these, it can be on the left or right side of the basket. Not only that, but, you can take a reverse lay-up, meaning you go under the basket and throw the ball up backwards. As you get farther from the basket you will have to bend your knees more and put more force into shooting it. Calculating the amount of force needed is a very tough element when learning to shoot. Furthermore, different spots on the court are worth different points. For instance, behind the three-point line is three points, anywhere else is worth two points. The only exception to that is a free-throw and that is taken when you are fouled, these are worth only one
