How To be A Good Sports Broadcaster There are a lot of sports broadcasters in the world and almost all of them have their own way of doing their job well. Now there are a lot of things that sports broadcasters do to make themselves good but the key points to being a sports broadcaster are to do the correct research, to present themselves in a professional manner and to put in the extra effort to be that much better. Doing the correct research before going to air is key because it tells the viewer that the broadcaster knows what they are talking about. The key word here is correct research, not just any research. A sports broadcaster wants their viewers to think and view sports in a different way. The ESPN radio crew from Cleveland named “WKNR” makes the same point as …show more content…
This is because it will earn that person the respect they need to make it in the sports broadcasting world. In the broadcasting world, people always expect to get that extra effort out of their broadcasters, and it is no different when it comes to sports broadcasting. Doing little things before each game like reading up on a player's biography or watching the opponents play other games before they play the team that the broadcaster works for can go a long way. Even if that broadcasters career has not started yet they can do things to get ahead of the game. In the article “ How to be a sports broadcaster” it states, “No skills develop in isolation; it takes years of practice and a focused determination to become a successful sports broadcaster” ( Clapp). That was said by a successful MLS (Major League Soccer) announcer John Strong. He worked and put in the extra effort for years. He did it before he even had a job. John Strong is just an example of a sports broadcaster who was focused and determined to put in that extra effort, And now he’s a successful sports
A handful of athletes will have a chance to turn pro before they have completed their college career. While not many acute injuries, or injuries that are associated with a traumatic event can be prevented, nearly all overuse injuries can be! Nevertheless, sports medicine physicians receive training to treat any kind of injury; acute, chronic, overuses or even psychogenic pain. Sports medicine dates back to Susruta of India who was the first “recorded” physician to prescribe moderate daily exercise around 600 B.C. (Tipton). Media is known for taking an issue and exaggerating the truth and putting out the bias of their own political ideology. In sports media the same could be said about how the sports analyst have their bias about teams, players and coaches. This bias directly hurts the image and reputation of people who may not want the attention or made a mistake that was blown out of proportion. Also sports media tend to cover many rumors that may not always be true, but even if the rumor isn’t true at the end, it tends to affect the viewer’s perspective anyway. Sports media outlets such as ESPN and recently Fox Sports 1 hurt or enhance the images of players, coaches, owners, and teams by covering and reporting rumors that are sometimes untrue and they also broadcast sportscasters' biased opinions ultimately causing the public to change their opinions of sports figures.
James Emma, otherwise known as, the most interesting man in the world...at least in my perspective. Quite few people know his true story, but by using my investigative skills and first person experience I was able to reveal who he really is. Coach Emma is an assistant coach at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo for the football team. He is the backbone of our football team, whether he is running defensive meetings or scouting the opponents for the weeks to come, as an assistant coach he deserves more credit. Many assistant coaches are overshadowed by the limelight placed specifically on head coaches. Not many realize the amount of effort they put into their work to help the team function. I have first hand experience being coached by an assistant coach, and have come to see how important their work truly is.

Confucius once said, "he who does not do well is less guilty than he who pushes too hard." People found that competitive sports are often physically straining and it is detrimental to proper emotional development. This blows away the misconception that competitive sports create a healthy and engaging atmosphere for kids. This and an overly strong obsession with winning create a toxic mix for the child’s wellbeing. People have begun to realize the world of competitive may be doing more harm than good for their children. Parents have also begun to notice that competitive sports often injure their children severely and also make the child feel left out, which in turn is detrimental to the child 's emotional health. Sports can help many at- risk youths. In order to participate in sports you need to be committed and willing to work hard. You also have to learn to respect others and accept that winning isn’t the only measure of success. Losing can build character as well. When youth participate in a sports they enjoy, they are less likely to engage in behaviors that are harmful or dangerous to themselves and others. Sports psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise and physical activity. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals use exercise and sports to enhance people’s lives and well-being. While finding ways to help athletes is certainly an important part of sports psychology, the application of exercise and physical activity for improving the lives of non-athletes is also a major focus.
Those reasons are the uses and gratification model provided by McQuail, Blumler, and Brown. People want to get fulfillment after watching a show or in this case a sports broadcast. They wanted to achieve something like making sure their team is doing well or all the players are healthy. In the case of ESPN, there are two ways to view this information. The viewer can either watch the broadcast and be entertained by the broadcasters and see the plays.
Motivate the motivation, simple words that can mean some much to an athlete, but what is motivation really? In the games and sports, psychological and physiological factors play an important role in determining the performance level (Grange & Kerr, 2010; Schilling & Hyashi, 2001). Motivation also plays an important role in determining the performance level an athlete, but plays a role in the psychological and physiological factors as well. Motivation is more than a behavior or idea, it is an impact on how we interact with others, how we process defeat, feel, and how we play. Motivation will not only help an athlete get the starting position or gain an award but more importantly, help an athlete reach their potential. Motivation like most things

Sports are apart of human society, for centuries it has been difficult to conceive of any human civilization consisting entirely of work, education, relationships, and entertainment alone. The media plays a major role in the way society views sports today. As time has evolved sports have become apart of the American culture. Sports hold paramount importance in our lives. Most of us are involved at it some way or the other. Some of us actively pursue it as a hobby while most of us occasionally get a chance to participate in it while we have time. So in a sense all of us are consumers of sport as we grow up in some form or the other. Especially with the advent of the satellite age we can see that even in the tiniest and smallest villages of rural India there is a small TV set and a satellite connection.
