INTRODUCTION
Sports hold paramount importance in our lives. Most of us are involved at it some way or the other. Some of us actively pursue it as a hobby while most of us occasionally get a chance to participate in it while we have time. So in a sense all of us are consumers of sport as we grow up in some form or the other. Especially with the advent of the satellite age we can see that even in the tiniest and smallest villages of rural India there is a small TV set and a satellite connection. Even if the people are very poor, do not have enough food clothes to wear or even proper shelter, the prized possession of TV is a must. So you can see how much impact television has really created. Also it has proved to be a boon for the advertising

Before jumping into any conclusion it is important to identify the loophole that currently exists in the system (if any) .So let us realise what the role of a sporting body really is. It’s a top to bottom pyramid structure where in the top management has to oversee a number of things like –
1. Providing infrastructure which becomes absolutely crucial when it comes to sports be it football, cricket or badminton there should always be proper sporting facilities like stadiums, gyms and other sporting

Indian sports has become a rehabilitation asylum for politicians and retired bureaucrats .for them chairing a sports body is all about power money and publicity .The main purpose of these apex bodies is talent hunting grooming the players providing them with the required sporting equipments.as we have seen in the recent years stories of many talented players who are not provided with the minimum basic requirements like a proper stadium to practice in and proper places to stay proper food proper sports related needs etc .
The moot question is do these people have the required expertise and knowledge required to deliver what i expected of them .when the man at the top is ignorant and is least concerned about the sport the future is bleak .the passion and professionalism which is required to head a sports body is missing .the cost we are playing for such irregularities is huge in the light of the recent sanction on the Indian Olympic association from the apex international body.
The heads of these bodies are still reserved for the political elites who are more concerned about minting money from their positions rather than help improve the performance of Indian sports . Govt gives financial aid and hence they want someone to be office bearers. These institutions have to thus surrender to the wishes of the political parties in order to have continues inflow of funds and aids however meagre it can
To me the role of sports in society is for men and women of all ages to grow and develop and be responsible members of society and the community. Sports can bring a community together as long as it doesn 't become the religion of who we are as christians. It also gives us a different setting to interact with each other and learn from one another so we can become better as a whole. Coming together as a community and being able to learn and have fun is probably one of the most important aspects to me when it comes to sports. There should be no reason that parents have to get into arguments because of a call a referee makes in their child 's game. Also sports have become a bigger deal in society then just about fun and learning the sport. A great deal of it, at the higher level has so do with economics and social status’. Players with exceptional talent are now seen in commercials and have huge salaries to play sports or even at the college level earn scholarships to get into colleges for free. I mean hey, if your that good then good for you!
The two revenue sports in college athletics are men's basketball, and football. These teams make millions of dollars, while the individual athlete receives no compensation for their efforts. They are controlled by a governing body (NCAA), which tells them when they work, and when they can't work (Barra). The teams are lead into battle by their coaches, their leaders. These coaches, leaders, partake in an annual payout in upwards of two million dollars, plus endorsement deals. Why then, in a country that...
There are many risks involved in the sport and it is great to shed light on the situation as to improve playing conditions for the players and teams we hold dear to us. What is unfair is to demonize the fans who enjoy the sport. It is not immoral and cannot be
People today go through many different avenues while striving for excellence in sports. The main objective these days seems to achieve excellence in the shortest possible time in order for self-satisfaction or for some kind of proof that one is capable of excelling better then someone else. Sports have a variety of difficulties. Excellence is a goal that is worked for, and no matter how long it takes, it is worth the wait.
The sports industry is a very big business that contributes great amounts to the economy in terms of turnover, taxes and jobs. The sports industry has an economic cycle. So it depends on different parts of the year to hold big events. The benefits to be gained are that local communities as suppliers of services and goods obtain increased business.
...ete doing. This is why they are held accountable to do the right thing and steer people the right way. Sport is a way of life, a guideline to the way people feel they should live. Sports have indeed become more than just a game.
Any achievement means more than winning because it would lead the winner to the power that the winner desire, which is the power that drive him/her to the wanted position. Most politician’s specialists would agree that there is a relationship between sports as a physical game and sports as mainstream motivator to change people thoughts and believe towards some...
"Money makes the world go 'round." Sports could not exist without the presence of money. You have high paid athletes asking for multi-million dollar contacts, while at the same time you have doctors not even making close to that amount. There are corporations buying out sports teams, buying stadiums, and buying everything that has to do with sports. Someone may ask why they do this. Sports are one of the most profitable industries in the world. Everyone wants to get their hand on a piece of the action. Those individuals and industries that spend hundreds of millions of dollars on these sports teams are hoping to make a profit, but it may be an indirect profit. It could be a profit for the sports club, or it could be a promotion for another organization (i.e. Rupert Murdoch, FOX). The economics involved with sports has drastically changed over the last ten years. In the United States, we spend about 13% of all money on sports and entertainment. Sports has obviously done its job; entertained and drained money out of our pockets.
To say that sport and politics don’t mix is a statement which cannot be described as anything but flawed in its basis. From the material investigated, analysed and discussed, it would be wrong to say that sport and politics should be kept separate as they have been matched together and have been closely tied since the very beginning of modern sport and have continued to do so to this day. Whether it be, for example, governments using a mega-sporting event to improve a countries image and international relations or, as was mentioned, to further the country’s ‘soft power’, sport and politics are yet again intertwined. Sport has also been used as a platform to express political ideologies and has been successful in some cases highlighted in this literature review.
First, sports have become engrained into our everyday society. Whether you play sports, watch sports, exercise, or do not participate in sports in any way; it is still a part of people’s lives. I have been watching sports since I was born, and playing sports starting when I was 4 years old. I still to this day continue to play in organized sports because it has been engrained in me, and can’t imagine a day when I’m not participating in some kind of organized sport. I also use sports and exercise to help bond with my wife and kids as a vehicle to enhance our relationship, communicate better, have fun, and stay
The Olympic Movement is the sole authority mandated to generally organize and promote basic sporting events (known as the Olympic Games). The committee is established by the Olympic Charter adopted by the Olympic Committee in 1894. The Charter sets out the basic and specific fundamental principles in the philosophy of Olympic Games. The movement is made up of; the International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Federations (IFS), the National Olympic Committees (NOCS), the Organizing Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), the national associations, clubs, the athletes, judges and referees, coaches and the other sports technicians. It also includes other organizations and institutions recognized by the IOC (Findling, 2004). Further, the charter outlines the structural organization of the committee. The specific roles of the movement include but are not limited to, promoting the female gender in sports, advocating for environmental protection, enhancing culture and education, protection of athletes physical and psychological health, supporting peace initiatives, promotion of the physically challenged persons through Paralympic games among others. This research paper will be an exploration into the organizational structure of the Olympic Movement.
The Olympic Games are a set of friendly competitions that bring countries from all around the world together, but many social, political, and economic problems in the past and present including racial and sexual discrimination and apartheid have prevented the Olympic Games from fulfilling their promise to bring countries together.
Cricket is the only game set back for the progress of other sports in India. Commercialization...
The majority of viewers are never able to witness these events first hand, which is where television comes into play. Without television, the people who are able to view sporting events would be restricted by the size of the arena. However, television allows sporting events to be broadcasted to millions even billions of people allowing them to experience the events and feel more connected to the teams they so dedicatedly support. Without television, people would not have as much access to sports, and therefore the ability of sports to unite people and nations would not be nearly as successful. Sporting events are one of the biggest media spectacles in world culture. Douglas Kellner writes “media spectacles are those phenomena of media culture that embody contemporary society’s basic values, sever to initiate individuals into a way of life, and dramatize its controversies and straggles, as well as its modes of conflict resolution” (108). The movie Invictus depicts how Nelson Mandela used sports, in particular rugby, as a means...
Governments are now involved in sports to promote the status of a group. The other reason is to promote a sense of identity, belonging and unity through "sports nationalism."
