A problem has occurred in one of the five major hospitals in a midwestern city. The hospital is having trouble retaining employees who work as a patient escorts. Many patients have also complained about some of the patient escorts. The patients have claimed that some of the escorts are rude and careless. The job of the patient escort is critical because is the last representative the patients sees before leaving the hospital. The priority of the hospital is to maintain their reputations as one of the best hospitals in the city. And for this reason, it is crucial for the hospital to fix this problem as soon as possible. The hospital needs to come up with a smart solution to be able to maintain their patient escorts and at the same time give a good service in order to keep patients satisfied.
For example, some of the patient escorts are college students who work the early morning shift in the hospital and at night they take classes. Being a college student can be very difficult, the lack of sleep for the college student who works as a patient escort can cause them to get in a bad mood. Another problem with the patient escorts is that they are able to exchange patients with each other, meaning they can change their patient with another escort if

With the right information the hospital will found out the reason that previous employees quit the job or move to different positions. The hospital should be able to conduct a survey with the patient escort employees so they can express what they like and dislike about the job and they can make comments in which they can explain the ways to make it the position better. Secondly, the hospital should provide a better and longer orientation with the new patient escort employees so they can be more informed about the hospitals'
Nurses have long been known for their attention to patient care. The reason many nurses have entered this profession is due to their desire to care for people. The overwhelming responsibilities of documentation, chart reviews, verifying orders and medications, monitoring lab results, among others, leaves the direct care of the patient to another, possibly unqualified, staff member. Bolton, Gassert, and Cipriano (2008) estimate that a mere 23-30% of a nurse’s day is spent providing care to a patient. This leaves the greater part of a 12-hour shift performing some kind of paperwork. In fact, the inability to provide more patient care has been cited as a reason many nurses leave their job, and the profession altogether (Bolton et al., 2008).
Over the past years, there has been a nursing shortage which has led to the need of more registered nurses in the hospital setting. This is the result of higher acuity of patient care and a decrease in their length of hospital stay. In order for the patients to get safe and quality care, the staffing, education and experience of the nursing staff needs to be made a priority. Because of the lack of nurses, patient quality of care has suffered.
Professionalism can be defined as the competence of skills and principles of an individual in a profession. Following the QSEN model, this problem is a concern that falls under the safety category. The Institute of Medicine defines safety as, “minimizes risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance” (IOM, 2003). A nurse manager must address this problem because without nurses who are able to work, patients cannot be taken care of in a safe and effective way. As a nurse manager, it would be ...
Communicating with someone who has a life-altering illness is not an easy task. A person needs to have compassion, patience, and listening skills. I have seen firsthand how a caring healthcare provider and having an attitude of optimism can prolong a person’s life.
The necessity of reducing wait times The proposed project would serve to reduce the wait times spend in a healthcare setting. This project can be applied to inpatient and outpatient facilities, and is aimed at reducing resources and time wasted on initiating the encounter. Reducing patient wait times is crucial to healthcare because it has financial and treatment impacts. Long wait times impede the care a patient receives as well as their satisfaction of the episode of care.

In the article “Addressing staffing shortages in an era of reform,” Stanford point out that in a time when change is necessary because of mandated healthcare requirements, there is a shortage of nurses in the field of direct patient care, because they are offered jobs with better pay to oversee office positions. “Health system leaders recognize that these shortages threaten the quality of care they can provide to patients. As a result, competition for talent is becoming more heated in several parts of the country,” (Stanford, 2013). By nurses taking on jobs in other areas of the field, we are left to find people to replace them and when that happens, it creates a shortage on the front line of patient care.

A clinic and doctor 's office requires many positions that are crucial to a patient’s satisfaction, and one of the most important occupations is that of a medical assistant. Whilst their job may seem simple at first, much information, characteristics, and morals are to be expected in this medical field. Upon completing their educational requirements and proving their credibility, they may commence to search for a job in a variety of locations and opportunities. Once employed, they are responsible for operating either the front desk or the back, depending whether they are specialized as a clinical or administrative medical assistant. All in all, the simple role of a medical assistant has many requirements and
In this research proposal, the author analyze safe nurse staffing levels and the effect that this has on patient satisfaction, specifically, HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) scores. One of the most important things in the healthcare setting is how patients are treated. It is vital that patients are cared for in the best way possible. It is under many people’s opinion that the patient is what makes the healthcare field go round. Let’s be honest, if there is no patient then there is no healthcare system. This is what makes patient care so important in the healthcare setting. Since the patients are opinionatedly the most important part of the healthcare system it is imperative that the patients be treated by being well cared for, ensured patient safety, and that they are properly communicated with. Not only is this the proper way to care for patients but it will also help the healthcare center’s business.
