As a secondary school student, I had the pleasure of taking science courses such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as well as math courses such as MACA Math. Due to my passion for the sciences as well as assisting others, I realized that a career in the pharmaceutical industry would be the appropriate decision for me. In accordance with the pharmacist career requirements, I decided it would be beneficial for me to attend Trinity Western University. With a record of high first year scores, small class size, and maximum teacher and counselor involvement, the Pre-Pharmacy Program at this university has greatly drawn my interest. In addition to the high quality of education provided, the religious aspect of this university has deepened my interest. …show more content…
I am highly interested in learning about a different religion I understand that being knowledgeable in this area promotes awareness and understanding of others. Furthermore, learning about Christianity will allow me to develop a greater stability in my faith and strengthen my identity. Furthermore, this award is highly important to me because it will be a way for me to thank my parents for immigrating to Canada from a third world country, in order to ensure a better future for me. My parents took the risk of immigrating to a new country with very little money, but despite that, they had great enthusiasm for a better future for themselves and their children. When they moved, they struggled to be financially stable for most of my childhood and worked multiple labour jobs to provide for the family. Despite going through such difficult circumstances, my parents were always supportive of my education and made sure I was doing well in school. The opportunities that I have now may never have existed if my parents did not make the decisions that they did. I am very grateful for my parents' decision to move to Canada and the work they have put in to make a better life happen. If I do receive this award, it would symbolize the extent of my appreciation for my parents and the success that stems from their hard work. I strongly believe that I will be a valuable asset to this university because I am committed, hardworking, and very interested in learning about
• Organize inventory and alert pharmacists to any shortages of medications or supplies • Accept payment for prescriptions and process insurance claims • Enter customer or patient information, including any prescriptions taken, into a computer system • Answer phone calls from customers • Arrange for customers to speak with pharmacists if customers have questions about medications or health matters Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of pharmacists, who must review prescriptions before they are given to patients. In most states, technicians can compound or mix medications and call physicians for prescription refill authorizations. Technicians also may need to operate automated dispensing equipment when filling prescription orders. Pharmacy technicians working in hospitals and other medical facilities prepare a greater variety of medications, such as intravenous medications.
I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides
Internal Medicine has always been my number one choice for residency. It offers constant intellectual challenges, imparts a vast ocean of medical knowledge and ultimately establishes a strong relationship with the patient. The vast diversity of challenging clinical conditions, degree of illness, medical procedures, continual advances in treatment and the ability to cure diseases is what appeals me the most .
Since my early schooling days, science and mathematics have always fascinated me given that all components of the world are explained on the basis of these disciplines. In this regard, Pharmacy which is based on Chemistry and Mathematics has interested me a great deal as it has direct impacts on our daily lives. The more I have become familiar with the chemistry and mathematics knowledge involved in pharmacy, the more I have appreciated its significance in improving the lives of people in the community. Out of the many careers that one would opt to pursue, Pharmacy has stood out as the career that will enable me serve the society more directly and have a real impact in the quality of peoples’ lives by touching their health. In addition, I love a career that is challenging and one that I will be involved in even in old age. In this case, Pharmacy offers me this opportunity. My interest in Pharmacy has also developed from my personal health experiences and becoming aware of its expansiveness. Every time I have had to take medicine to cure an illness, I have become more interested to know how drugs are made and how the drug components work in the human body to alleviate pain and restore health. I desire to pursue a career in Pharmacy so as to gain practical experience in these aspects of research.
I deserve to win the $1,000 Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship because I will change lives with its help. I plan to become an early childhood educator and will continue with school until I become just that. I believe that with the help of this scholarship, I will help many children reach goals that are just as significant as my own. Also, I will be able to set an example for children who may have not come from financially stable homes, and show that anything is possible if you put forth the effort. My parents are divorced and I have been evicted from 2 homes in the past three years; however that has not stopped me from getting my high school diploma and setting further goals for myself.
First off, I would like to say again, thank you for nominating me as a possible recipient for this scholarship. I would be a good candidate for this award because I am devoted to my education and future, and I am determined to knock off the expenses that college entails little by little. I understand the value of every scholarship, no matter the size, because every bit of the money I am awarded is part of the final sum I do not have to pay off, and can therefore put towards something else vital to my goals and dreams. Some of my plans for the future include earning my PhD in positive psychology, traveling in order to gain a vast understanding of the earth’s many cultures, and becoming proficient in several languages, especially Spanish. If I were to be awarded this book scholarship, it would be one less piece of the puzzle that I will have to pay for,

Though pharmacy school is long and arduous for many, for me it was a journey that I wanted to make the most of. Each year I learned more and I developed more, not only as a student, but as a person as well. Even still, I wasn’t sure exactly what I would do with my pharmacy degree until I entered into the fourth and fifth years of my degree program. It was then that I began taking classes in therapy
