Persuasive Essay “Poorly Written Communication” Poorly Written Communication 2 Thesis: After a poorly written memo caused hard feelings and loss of morale, the company decided to start writing courses, believing that the effectiveness of enhancing written communication skills within a work place is necessary for any successful business. In “A case for clear writing” C. Petrini states, the ability to communicate written information in a clear, concise and accurate manner can provide significant benefits to employees and their companies. Poor communication within a work place can cause serious miscommunication, which in ways could cause loss of work time, due to doing the wrong job. Another problem that could dampen works productivity is hurt feelings. This alone could cripple a business by causing lack of productivity and lack of morale. If you ever plan to expand, your business and have a successful one, you need good writing skills. If our business continues to have a lack of writing ability, it could result in personnel quitting or total lack of respect in the end. There are many other areas in which this could affect our business but one, which would really be an eye opener, is a possible lawsuit. In the article “ The you understood” P. Vassallo it says When writing we don’t have the luxury of using vocal intonations or body language to add to our meaning. If you call someone crazy in writing, you suggest either that person lacks sanity or that you lack judgment. A writing workshop would benefit our business in many ways. The first thing that comes to mind is higher morale, Since the workshop would teach us to write clear and concise papers, this could cause less confusion with the employees when reading bulletins published by management and a lot less hurt feelings. As stated in “ Improving your technical writing” by R. Ramsey, the ability to write competently is a requirement for success in any field. Poorly Written Communication 3 Written communication should be treated as sales letters. The college informed me that it offers offer two different classes one for higher management and one for all the other employees. Sam Dillion wrote “What Corporate America Can’t Build: A Sentence” for an audience of college students, employees and corporate people. In his article, Sam points out that companies are spending a lot of money annually on remedial training. According to Sam, the writing problem appears in e-mails, reports and texts. In the realm of modern literature, a multitude of texts have produced a “thicket of information”(Goldsmith, “Uncreative writing” 1). In this “thicket”, all works seemingly blend together into one jumbled-up, problematic mess. To cut through this jungle of mundaneness, writers aspire to fabricate what they perceive as “creative” literature. There are even guides to doing this; though most are filled with cliché terms and phrases such as: explorer, ground-breaker, and going where no one has gone before(8). But are they all missing the point? Kenneth Goldsmith, author of uncreative writing and professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania, thinks so. He argues that the current literary world is plagued by the need to be unique. This need

After asking the adults in my life, how writing affects their career a few said that it plays a big part. Depending on the job you have the amount of writing you do will vary. One of the people I interviewed is a cosmetologist and she said that she does very little writing on the job, everything is verbal. One of the other people I asked was an accountant. He said that he does a lot of writing for work and it plays a vital role in his position at work. He said he wouldn't be where he is today without the writing knowledge he has. Not everyone is going to need writing skills for their career, it all depends on the field they go into.
Poverty is something that has always been around and it will never go away. Some people believe that poverty is something that you are born into and cannot rise above but I strongly disagree. Being poor is sometimes a choice and can be changed at any moment but some people choose to accept it. Many people adopt being poor for many reasons such as lack of support, self-doubt, afraid of judgement, economy, values, and education. These are just a few reasons why a large quantity of society is on or below the poverty line.

These difficulties, therefore, undermine the ability of the employees to accomplish their tasks and responsibilities (Rizvi 18). When staff members fail to communicate with one another, there may be deterioration in an organization. These barriers may also lead to distortion or miscommunication of important messages.
